The Legendary Sage of Konoha Series, All Previous Chapters [In Chronological Reading Order]:
The Legendary Sage of Konoha's Legacy, Chapter 1;
As one story comes to an end, another one begins. The Legacy of The Legendary Sage of Konoha and his friends, lived on for generations to come, as peace thrived throughout the Shinobi World for the next 100 years without a single incident of pain, suffering or hatred occurring. Those famed ones from the past had passed on to the afterlife long time ago, but, although their memories and their experiences no longer were part of this world, the Legends and the Lore of their greatness and achievements were passed on to the next generations, as they did not fade to myth so easily. What they had established and what they had sacrificed were cherished deep in the hearts of their offspring, marking the beginning of a new era. Following the era of the Three Great Toad Sages came stability and peace. The Joint Shinobi Alliance continued to grow stronger, and over the years, even more villages joined in on the alliance. With the whole world united as one, cooperating and working together like never before, there were simply no room for uprising or war.
The 8th Hokage of Konoha, Uzumaki-Uchiha Minato, the grandson of Naruto and Sasuke themselves, sat on his position as Hokage for many, many years to come, stepping down only at the age of 90, 72 years after he claimed the position from the 7th Hokage, Uzumaki Jiraiya, his own father. Together with his wife Aiko, they had three children, all born at the same date and all famously named after Konoha's greatest trio throughout history, Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke and Haruno Sakura respectively. Although they had the blood of their forefathers, the lack of threats and true challenges in the world prevented them from ever achieving their true potential. Following the 8th Hokage, Minato's death, someone from outside the Uzumaki-Uchiha-Hyuga line claimed the role of Hokage for the first time in over 100 years.
This story however unfolds as one of the last great figures of Konoha, and the son of the 8th Hokage Minato, had just lived to see his 100ed birthday. His name was Naruto Uzumaki, but to avoid confusion with the history books, he often referred to himself as Uzumaki Naruto the 2nd. He was the last of his siblings to live, as his brother Sasuke, and his sister Sakura had died some years ago. The often talked about subject of this trio, was that they all had different surnames, in honor of their bloodline. Since their father, Minato, had famously taken both the name of Uzumaki and Uchiha, the three of them were free to choose what they wanted as their main ones after they turned 10 years old. The curious thing though was that none of them chose to do as their father and keep their Uzumaki-Uchiha name, but instead, they all chose differently. First, Naruto chose the Uzumaki name as his surname, in honor of their great grandfather Naruto, while Sasuke however chose Uchiha, also in honor of their other great grandfather, Sasuke. Lastly, Sakura chose to change her surname to Hyuga, in honor of their great grandmother Hinata, and thereby being the first in their family-line since her to have that surname. Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke and Hyuga Sakura, all siblings, but with different surnames, grew up in an era of peace, with their father Minato being a great leader and a great teacher. Unlike his father Jiraiya and his grandfather Naruto before him, Minato devoted a lot of his time training his own children as Jiraiya often had to step in as temporary Hokage while they were out on different journeys. And as a result, he taught them many great lessons and techniques.
A few days after his 100ed birthday, Uzumaki Naruto the 2nd had sat down with his great great grandson, Ikari, who was only six years old at the time, as Naruto could feel his lifespan was coming to an end. This however, was not going to prevent him from telling his great great grandson, one last story.
Naruto: So... Even at my old age, you still want to hear that story one last time, Ikari?
Ikari: Yosh! Why wouldn't I, great great grandfather?
Naruto: Well then... I guess, there's not many other people around nowadays that can actually tell you this in person, gwuahaha, as they would have to pick up a history book to read about it.
Ikari: I understand that, haha.
Naruto: So, where shall I begin? I've told this story many times up through the years, but as I get older, my memories starts to fade...
Ikari: I know you can do it, you're only 100ed years old!
Naruto: Hahaha, easy for you to say... A 100ed years is a lot...
Ikari: ...
Naruto: Well, the story begins a long, long time ago, approximately 90 years ago.
Seated in his old chair by the fireplace readying himself to tell a story, his great great grandson had gathered in front of him as he sat on the carpet, anticipating this old and famous story that he had heard so many times before, but that he never could get enough of. Knowing that his great great grandfather's time was coming to an end soon, he wanted to make sure that he would hear it one more time before it was too late. The lights were dimmed down, it was dark outside, and the fire from the fireplace was the only thing lighting up the room. As Naruto the 2nd opened an old and dusty book, he blew gently over the first page as some dust took to the air. In front of him sat Ikari, who could almost not wait for him to begin telling his tale.
Naruto: Let's see...
Ikari: Yeah?
Looking through some old pictures, his memory was quickly regained.
Naruto: Ahh... *Kremt* Ehm, the story begins 87 years ago, thirteen years after my father Minato had become the 8th Hokage of Konoha...
Ikari: Uhm, didn't you just say 90 years ago?
Naruto: I already told you, my memory is bad... And I did say approximately, didn't I?
Ikari: ...
Naruto: So 87 years ago, when I was thirteen years old... My siblings and I were about to partake in our biggest challenge yet... The Chunin exam.
Thinking back on his life, a smile cranked on his wrinkly face as he started to fade into memory as he went on.

Naruto: The Chunin Exam?!
Sasuke: Oh?! Are you for real Sensei?!
Sakura: Are we... Are we actually going to-...
Naruto: Yosh! Of course we will be ready for it!
Jiraiya: Easy now, don't get too excited...
Sasuke: Well it was about damn time if you ask me grandpa, both you and our father were allowed to partake at a much earlier age!
Jiraiya: Well, your father and I were always regarded as geniuses, gwuahahaha!
Naruto: Humph, smart ass...
Standing on the training ground of Konoha, Jiraiya, the son of The Legendary Sage of Konoha, Uzumaki Naruto, had just gone through another training exercise with his three students, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, whom also happened to be his grandchildren. As the training came to an end, and the four of them were having a water break, Jiraiya told them that he had something big to reveal to them, as he detailed how he had spoken to their father, Minato, about letting them join the Chunin Exam to come, as he believed they were ready for it.
Sakura: So grandpa Jiraiya, when is the exam going to start?
Jiraiya: In a month's time, and it's going to be held in Konoha, just as it was when I partook in it all those years ago...
Sakura: Oh, that's right! You won the Chunin exam when you were just eight years old, right?
Jiraiya: That's right...
Sasuke: Heh, that's even better than our father.
Naruto: Yeah, didn't dad win the Chunin exam in Suna when he was ten or something?
Jiraiya: Yeah, Minato did in fact, but unlike when I became a Chunin, he wasn't the only one to be promoted to that position.
Sakura: What do you mean?
Jiraiya: When I won the Chunin exam, I became the only one to get promoted to Chunin... When your father won and was promoted to Chunin however, his rival in the final was promoted as well.
Sasuke: Oh? So you don't have to win to become Chunin?
Jiraiya: Hardly... In fact, throughout history, there has even been times where the one who has won the whole thing haven't been promoted, but instead, one of those who were eliminated in the previous rounds have. And then, there's been times where no one has been promoted regardless of the outcome.
Sasuke: That's stupid, what's the point of that if I may ask? Then the whole Exam would have been a waste of time if you went all the way to win it, without getting promoted.
Jiraiya: Stupid?? Waste of time?! Idiot! The Chunin exam is not about brute strength, but about tactic, showing leader capabilities, and much more than just winning! Besides, it's a great experience regardless, and it's up to the Kages and their advisers to decide who's worthy of becoming a Chunin. It's a matter of impressing them on more levels than just pure fighting skills.
Sasuke: Heh, I won't have a problem winning the whole thing though, so we shall see then. Besides, our father is the Hokage, so I should have a pretty good shot at it.
Jiraiya: Full of confidence already? I like your style. But, don't forget that I was the one to talk your father into letting you three participate, so don't expect to get a free pass through the exams from him...
Naruto: I find Sasuke's attitude arrogant, blah! You won't be winning anything as long as I'm here, Sasuke!
Sasuke: What was that?!
Coming over to him, the two of them were up in each others' faces.
Jiraiya: Easy, easy now boys...
Sakura: Hehe, you two never stop, do you?
Jiraiya: Remember that teamwork is of utmost importance, don't let your own ambitions be your downfall.
Sasuke: Right, Jiraiya-Sensei!
Naruto: We know alright!
Sakura: And if they forget, I'll make sure to remind them!
Jiraiya: That's the spirit! Anyways, we should head back now as it's starting to get late. Your grandmother Miyuki will probably start worrying about me being out too late, haha.
Naruto: Yeah, mom probably have some dinner ready by now as well.
Sasuke: It's not dinner if the clock is past 8 pm you dumb-ass.
Naruto: Idiot! It's still dinner to us!
Sakura: Just calm down you two, geez.
Jiraiya: Haha, I'm sure Aiko is waiting for the three of you now...
Naruto: Yeah, I know you're found of her food grandpa, *Smirk*
Jiraiya (In Thoughts): That reminds me, I need to stop by the Hokage-Mansion to deliver something to Minato before I head home.
As the four of them headed back to Konoha, to end the long day of training, the three youngsters were already building up their own thoughts and ambitions on the upcoming exam.
Sasuke (In Thoughts): I'm going to win this and get promoted to Chunin, no problem!
Naruto (In Thoughts): If we can work together and make it to the knockout stage, I'll show Sasuke who's the best by becoming a Chunin! That will teach him!
Sakura (In Thoughts): I just hope the two of them won't get in the way of each other...
[...]
Ikari: Hmm... I can't really say that I remember this part of the story??
Naruto: Well, this might be the last time I'm telling you this story, so I figured I would include all the details...
Having opened his story from the very beginning, Naruto the 2nd had already caught the attention of his great great grandson, as he continued.
Ikari: Oh? So there's parts that even I haven't heard of yet then??!
Naruto: It sure is! Now, moving on, the first stage of the Chunin Exam were upon us, and it was nothing like any of us had expected.
[...]
*1 Month Later*
Naruto: This is it, isn't it?
Sasuke: Looks like it...
Naruto: Should we head inside then?
Sakura: Well, it does say that we're suppose to meet and greet here... I wonder if we'll get the first stage today though.
Naruto: I can't help but wonder who that guy we ran into earlier was... He didn't seem very nice.
Sasuke: The one you almost started a fight with you mean? Haha, he probably thought the same about you!
Naruto: What was that?!
Sasuke: Alright, alright, calm down, it was just a joke.
Sakura: He was a Sand Shinobi, wasn't he??
Naruto: I suppose.
Sasuke: In any case, the Chunin Exams these days are said to be easy compared to the past, so I guess we don't have to worry about him or anything else for that matter.
Naruto: Hmm... That's one way to put it.
Sakura: Heh, well then, let's not fool around anymore and head inside.
As the three of them walked in through the door, they were met with countless other Shinobi from many different villages, filling up the room. As they walked into the crowd, they realized that there were three other teams their age from Konoha there as well, as they met in the middle of the room.
Naruto: So you've already arrived I see... I didn't think all of you would be allowed to join the Chunin Exam this year as well.
Sasuke: Well, let's see how long each and everyone of us will go in this exam. Regardless of us being in different teams, we still have to make Konoha proud an-...
?: Bah! Does it really matter if all of us do good or not?? As long as my team win, then that is all that matters!
Sasuke: What did you say?! And people call me arrogant, Tadakatsu!
Tadakatsu: Hah, well you always were just words and no action!
Sasuke: What?!
Tadakatsu was a very tall man, almost standing twice as tall as his fellow classmates from Konoha. Even though he was the same age as the rest, he already looked like he was passed his teenage years, with a large scar inched into his left chin, forming a cross, something which looked almost symbolic to his weaponry, as he also had two large swords pitched as a cross on his back. His attitude came off as fierce and powerful, always in the spotlight of each conversation around him, but even though he was the type to base all his strength on brute force, taking charge on the battlefield, Tadakatsu was actually one of the nicest persons around, if, and only if, he wanted to.
Naruto: Just stop it both of you! Can you two never leave each other alone?!
Tadakatsu: What, you need your brother to defend you Sasuke?? I didn't know you were such a coward! Hahaha, at this rate, my team will be the only one to make it passed the first stage!
Sasuke: Why you little!
Activating his Sharingan, Sasuke seems as if he was just about to charge at him.
Tadakatsu: Oh?? The Sharingan? Well then, bring it!
?: Tadakatsu... Couldn't you just save your strength for the actual exam? Just this once would be nice, *Sigh*.
Tadakatsu: Magoichi, you're just too lazy to do anything!
Magoichi, the second member of Tadakatsu's team, came off as a calm, yet determined person. His laziness was often in the way of his achievements, but he was also very dedicated when he first decided to do something.
Magoichi: You always have to start a fight though, don't you, Tadakatsu...
Tadakatsu: I...
?: Please... Just... Enough... Already.
Tadakatsu: Ehhh?? What's the matter Noh, you look a bit pale...
Noh, being the final member of their group, was the complete opposite of Tadakatsu. Her kind and caring personality, mixed with he carefulness and her cute looks, made her remind many of the elderly of a certain someone's wife. With dark long hair and her brown innocent eyes, she could easily stand out as someone that most people would be interested in. Magoichi, being too lazy to care about her or any other females for that matter, didn't really bother much with the attention she got from time to time, but Tadakatsu however, often got infuriated when someone as much as looked at her, as if he was claiming her as his own, and due to this, few others dared approach her. Yet, with his bold personality, Tadakatsu never managed to show his true feeling towards her, and very often offended and scared her instead, rather than to give her compliments. The thing about Noh however, was that she was secretly in love with someone else, and so the tale went on.
Noh: I...
Naruto: Are you alright?? All your yelling must have made her ill or something... Sasuke, Tadakatsu, you shouldn't fight all the time!
Sakura: It's not that you baffon, it's... Ah, never mind.
Noh: Naruto-Kun, I...
?: So, now that this little foreplay is over an done with, maybe we should start planning out what we should do if we were to face each other in any of the three stages?
Tadakatsu: Huh? Who cares if we do, Sakon!
Sakon: Tadakatsu, I...
?: Ignore him, he's just a brute...
Tadakatsu: You have some nerves Ginchiyo! If you weren't a female, I would...
Ginchiyo: You would do what exactly??
Tadakatsu: I, ehm... Bah! Forget about it.
Ginchiyo: Leyasu, aren't you going to say something, or don't you care about your teammates at all?
Leyasu: Huh? What have I to do with anything...
Ginchiyo: *Sigh* You never cared for anything either...
Ginchiyo, Sakon and Leyasu formed another team of promising Konoha Shinobi, and with her leadership abilities, Sakon's formality and Leyasu's... Well, let's just say that he did what he was told... The three of them were an odd team indeed.
Ginchiyo: And you guys?? Anything to add Nene?
Turning her attention towards the last Konoha Shinobi team standing there, Ginchiyo was as if on a witch-hunt.
Nene: Well, you already know how Tadakatsu is, so no point digging any deeper I suppose...
Ginchiyo: No point? So you're just going to let him get away with all this then?
Nene: Hey just back off, I have nothing to do with this sis!
Ginchiyo: Fine, fine, I'll leave you alone then.
Nene: Geez, you always have to boss people around don't you, even your own sister.
Ginchiyo: I...
Tadakatsu: Well at least someone is siding with me!
Nene: Idiot, I wasn't siding with anyone!
Tadakatsu: Uhm...
Nene: Well, the first stage of the Chunin Exam should begin soon, Musashi, Oichi, are you two ready for this?
Oichi: Why ask me, you know I am... Musashi however...
Musashi: What? I'm ready alright!
The final Shinobi team from Konoha to partake in the Chunin Exam were Musashi, Nene and Oichi, and despite having two female teammates, Musashi didn't let that take away his concentration, even though he was madly in love with both of them.
Magoichi: So... What are the three stages anyways?
Tadakatsu: What do you mean, what are the three stages?! Didn't you pay attention to our Sensei earlier?
Magoichi: I... It's not that, it's...
Noh: He... they...
Tadakatsu: Well, something to add Noh?
Noh: Uhm, no...
Ginchiyo: Haha, anyone should know the three stages!
Sakon: Not everyone cares to prepare themselves by reading up on the Chunin Exam beforehand...
Leyasu: Well, we still need to go through it in any case, so yeah...
Ginchiyo: *Sigh* You two never cared about anything, did you?!
Nene: Well sis, you always were well prepared, but I suppose knowing what's ahead is indeed an advantage.
Oichi: Oh, is it now?
Musashi: Hah, I'll be ready for anything, no worries! I'll impress you both either way! And if something were to happen, you can count on me protecting you!
Flexing off his muscles, Musashi was trying to impress the two whom simply both clutched their heads.
Nene: Geez, show-off...
Naruto: Uhm... I guess we will find out soon enough then.
Almost as if standing on the sideline for awhile, Naruto finally spoke out again as Sakura and Sasuke were quick to respond.
Sasuke: Heh, so you don't know then?
Naruto: Do you?
Sasuke: I-... Well no.
Sakura: Geez, alright let me explain then, the first stage is-...
As she was just about to detail the three stages of the Chunin Exam, the Exam Master of the first stage interrupted her as he spoke out.
Exam Master: Welcome to the Chunin Exam everyone... We will now begin the first phase.
As he said, the chattering throughout the crowd diminished as everyone gathered in the room turned their attention towards him.
Exam Master: Behind me is a door, through it, your first challenge. If you all can come over to me team by team, I'll check you in.
[...]
Naruto: ...
Ikari: What, why did you stop?
Naruto: I'm thinking...
Ikari: Thinking about what?
Naruto: I'm old alright, I can't remember every single detail!
Ikari: Right...
Naruto: Hm...
Ikari: ...
Naruto: Hmm...
Ikari: ??
Naruto: Hmmm...
Ikari: -_-
Naruto: Hmmmm...
Ikari: Well, anytime today?
Naruto: I'm thinking, now be quiet for a second!
As Naruto the 2nd seemed to be having trouble remembering, Ikari began to get impatient.
Naruto: I'm not really sure how this part of the story went down...
Ikari: Ehh?!
Naruto: But I do remember that it was easy, and that we passed it without much trouble.
Ikari: Really now...
[...]
Naruto: Hahaha, that was almost too easy!
Sasuke: Don't flatter yourself, if it weren't for Sakura...
Sakura: In any case, this is just the first stage, I'm sure it will get more difficult from here.
Sasuke: Right...
Naruto: Blah, I don't believe it! You did say that, the Chunin Exam these days were easier compared to the past, didn't you Sasuke... We might as well believe it.
Sasuke: Fool! Even I'm not that confident! We still have two more stages to go through, but for now, let's head home.
Sakura: Right, the next stage begins tomorrow.
Naruto: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Hopefully, something more challenging happens then.
As the three of them left the area of the first stage of the Chunin Exam, Naruto walked triumphantly on their way back home, as both Sasuke and Sakura shook their heads.
[...]
Ikari: Hahaha, just as I remembered! The first part was easy, wasn't it?
Naruto: Well, when we first figured out how it worked, it was easy to pass I suppose. However, the exam had only just begun, and it was when we approached the 2nd part of it that things began to get tricky...
Ikari: ...
[...]
At their house in Konoha the day after, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura were just about to leave for the meet-up point for the 2nd stage of the Chunin Exam, as their father and the 8th Hokage of Konoha, Minato, followed them.
Aiko: Alright, just be careful now and don't forget what I've told you, alright!
Sasuke: Yeah, yeah, don't worry mom.
Sakura: We will, I'll make sure of it!
Naruto: See ya mom, take care!
Minato: Alright then, let's head out.
As they walked down the street, the four of them were joined by Minato's two advisers on the road.
Naruto: Grandpa Hiruzen!
Sakura: And Grandma Mito as well!
Minato: Hiruzen, Mito, glad you two could make it.
Saying hello to their three grandchildren, Hiruzen then answered Minato's remark.
Hiruzen: Heh, well as your advisers, we are bound to make an appearance on the Chunin Exams, aren't we?
Minato: Haha, you sound a bit tired, father-in-law!
Mito: He's just tired because he had to wake up early, that's all.
Hiruzen: No, I'm not Mito...
Minato: Hehe, I see... Your daughter Aiko says hey by the way.
Mito: Oh, I was meaning to come visit the other day, but I completely forgot.
Hiruzen: So how is she? I hope she's treating you well, Minato, haha!
Minato: She sure is, but I guess she feels a bit lonely after her sister Ami moved to Kumo...
Mito: Yeah, they were very close, that's for sure...
Hiruzen: And you? How do you feel seeing one of your team-members leaving?
Minato: Well Hiruzen-Sensei, it's not like she's gone or anything, haha, she can always come visit with her husband if she'd like. I'm sure she would want to visit her father, mother and sister soon again.
Mito: Indeed, she always was her daddy's little girl.
Hiruzen: Heh, so you say.
Minato: So, any words from the other Kages?
Mito: Well, Ebizo will be arriving in just a couple of days, right before the final stage of the Chunin Exam, while Mu's convoy got delayed a bit. I haven't heard any word from Saria yet, but I suspect she will be arriving with him... And then there's Okuni who's expected to arrive later this day.
Minato: I see.
Hiruzen: So how was your trip anyhow? I heard that Jiraiya, Konohamaru and yourself just arrived home a couple of days ago after visiting the farming village just north-east of Konoha? How was Jiraiya?
Minato: Yeah that is correct. Well, he's as enthusiastic as always I believe, haha, but yeah, the trip was okay I suppose.
Mito: So the plan of expanding the Joint Shinobi Alliance is going according to plan?
Minato: Well, it's a long step process to make, but with each other village we get to join us, the less are the risks of war breaking out by those villages who feel left out.
Hiruzen: I see...
Naruto: Is this the place?
As the six of them had strolled over the training field and further into the forest surrounding Konoha, they suddenly came out into another field, which had a big encircled forest in the middle of it, right in front of them. It was surrounded by a fence on all sides, and several other Shinobi had gathered there as well.
Minato: Yep, this is where the 2nd part of the Chunin Exam will take place...
Sasuke: What is this place anyways?
Sakura: I think I've seen or read about it before...
Minato: This, is the Forest of Death...
Hiruzen: The same place Jiraiya, Mito and I went through all those years ago...
Mito: Yep, it sure is.
Sasuke: Forest of death?? Blah, sounds easy to me!
Sakura: Don't get ahead of yourself now!
Naruto: Whoa, amazing! I can't wait for this!
As the six of them arrived, a Konoha Shinobi came over to them as she greeted them accordingly.
Exam Master: Welcome Hokage-Sama! I see you've brought the final contestants...
Naruto: The final contestants... Does this mean we're the last to arrive?
Sasuke: I see that there are quite a few teams who made it through the first part...
Sakura: ...
Minato: Yes, these are the last ones I believe.
Exam Master: Names?
Holding a block with some papers in her hands, she readied herself to go through the list to cross-check the names, to see if everything was right.
Naruto: Uzumaki Naruto!
Sasuke: Uchiha Sasuke!
Sakura: Hyuga Sakura!
Exam Master: Let's see...
As she was going through her papers, Minato, Hiruzen and Mito went over to the fence as they started greeting the other contestants.
Exam Master: Hmm... Red hair, cute appearance, Byakugan... Yes, you must be Sakura alright.
Sakura: Yep, that's right.
As she said, she went passed her and over to the fence with the rest.
Exam Master: Let's see... Dark hair, handsome-traits, Sharingan... You must be Sasuke...
Sasuke: Who else?
Arrogant, but ambitious, Sasuke strolled passed her as Naruto was awaiting his name to be read.
Exam Master: Hmm... Where's your name...
Naruto: Well?
Exam Master: Ah, here it is... Blond spiky hair, a short sword on his back, and the... ?!
Naruto: Something wrong?
Exam Master: I... It can't be, something must be wrong...
Naruto: What?! What do you mean...
Exam Master: It says here that you have... your eyes...
Naruto: You mean these?
Looking straight into her eyes, Naruto's eyes began to transform as the Rinnegan appeared.
Exam Master: The Rinnegan?!-... How... Ehm, very well, you may pass.
Naruto: Thank you.
The trio all being gifted with each their own set of eyes, the Exam Master was scratching her head as she did not understand how it was possible for someone Naruto's age to have the Rinnegan, especially in the time of peace. Thinking back, she realized that his grandfather Jiraiya, was born way before the 6th Hokage Naruto acquired the Rinnegan, so it could not be passed down through bloodline. Still puzzled over this, she then crossed off his name on her list as she too went over to the fence.
Exam Master: *Kremt*
Gaining the attention of the gathered young Shinobi, she then continued.
Exam Master: Hey everyone, are you ready?!
Shouting out, she was as if expecting a massive roar in return, but not a single person opened up their mouth.
Exam Master: Ehm, anyways, we're lucky enough to be graced with the Hokage of Konoha appearing here in person, so I might as well let him explain the rules and so forth.
Minato: Me? Very well. Fellow Shinobi from the Joint Shinobi Alliance... In front of you lies the second stage of the Chunin Exam, the Forest of Death. Your goal here is to-...
As Minato went on explaining the rules, Naruto and Sasuke couldn't help but chattering amongst themselves, anticipating what to come.
Sasuke: Well Naruto, I guess this is it... Not scared, are you?
Naruto: Pff, if I'm scared of anything, then it's your ability to put yourself in front of this team...
Sasuke: Huh? Of course I won't! At least not until the knockout stage that is. Until then, the three of us shall show the rest what our incredible team is able to accomplish!
Naruto: Yosh, let's do this, Sasuke.
Sakura: Are you two even paying attention to what father is telling us? Now hush, we'll need to know the rules to be prepared.
As Minato finished explaining, the several teams of Shinobi stormed through the gate as they all split into different directions. After awhile, and before Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke had managed to catch their breath and plan their approach and their next move, they already encountered another team from the Grass Village.
Grass Shinobi 1: Hey you three!
Sasuke: Huh?! What are you doing just appearing in front of us like that with no strategy or plan?
Grass Shinobi 1: We know perfectly well what we're doing...
Naruto: Do you know who we are?
Grass Shinobi 2: That doesn't matter! What scroll do you have??
Sasuke: What scroll do we-... How dare you ask that! What scroll do you have?!
Grass Shinobi 3: Imbeciles, we asked first!
Sakura: ...
Grass Shinobi 2: Alright, we got the Scroll of Earth, now what do you have? Do we have a fight at our hands??
Naruto: Damn, we have the same one.
Grass Shinobi 3: Oh... Well then, no need to fight!
Grass Shinobi 1: Yeah, see ya...
As he said, the three of them vanished into the trees again.
Naruto: What was that all about?
Sasuke: I've never seen such an act before?
Sakura: Hmm... It seems as if they wanted to ask first before fighting, to avoid unnecessary battles.
Naruto: Huh, not bad.
Sasuke: Pff, a coward's way if you ask me.
Sakura: Anyways, let's move out.
As she said, the three of them continued through the deep and mystical forest, filled with creatures of all kind.
[...]
Ikari: We're just about to get to the good part now, aren't we?
Naruto: Yeah, but let me continue, haha, we're not going to get to the end of this tale if you keep interrupting me all the time.
Ikari: Yeah right, sorry. Please go on.
Naruto: As I was saying, it was then that we were about to meet with some familiar faces, but first...
[...]
Naruto: So, we have five whole days to go through with this ordeal, right? Five days to get our grasp on a Scroll of Heaven, and that's it?
Sasuke: That's right, should be easy pickings.
Sakura: Don't underestimate our opponents just yet, you never know what they're capable off.
Naruto: You're right, let's not take anything for granted.
Sasuke: So, where do we begin?
As the three of them were leaping through the tree-tops to avoid being visible on the ground, they were still pretty new to the whole deal, as they heard the sound of Kunai clashing in the distance. In response to this, Naruto halted completely.
Naruto: Wait, do you guys hear that??
Sakura: What is it?
Sasuke: Probably just a bird...
Naruto: No wait, I'm serious! Just stop and listen for a second.
As the two of them went over to him, they too also heard the noise of the ongoing battle in the distance, as Sasuke opted for checking it out.
Sasuke: With some luck, we might find someone with the Scroll of Heaven over there, and then, we can grab it in the chaos of their battle.
Sakura: Excellent idea.
Naruto: Yosh, let's move out there then!
As the three of them took off once more, they quickly went towards the sound in the distance as it diminished by the second, until it all got completely silent. As they rushed out of some large trees, they suddenly found themselves into a small open ground as two dead bodies lied in front of them, with the third barely being still alive.
Sasuke: ?!
Sakura: This is-... It can't be...
Wounded Shinobi: Please... please help me.
Naruto: Sakura wait, you shouldn't...
At this call-out for help, Sakura immediately responded as she was about to go over to him to help him out when Naruto grabbed her arm, preventing her from doing so.
Sakura: Let go off me!
Sasuke: I hate to say it, but Naruto is right. We all know the risks of entering this exam, and he is a rival Shinobi. We don't have time to waste on them.
Wounded Shinobi: Please, help me...
Sakura: I don't care! I'm going anyway! If we can't help our fellow Shinobi, then what is the point of becoming one in the first place?!
Naruto: I-... It's not that, it might be a trap...
Sasuke: It's definitely not Genjutsu, but, if you look over by the two dead bodies over there, you can see their Earth Scroll being left behind. If I was the enemy, I would have booby-trapped that guy who's still alive so that when others came around, they would fall prey for it.
Sakura: That is just despicable! How can you say such a thing?!
Naruto: Are you sure about this Sasuke? There might have been a battle without the other team knowing what Scroll these guys had, and when they found out that it was the same as they already had, the just left it?
Sasuke: Who in their right mind would do such a thing? They would rather take it with them to both have a spare one and to eliminated as many opponents as they can! This is why I've always been the one to deal with strategy and tactics in this team, as you have no clue on anything besides your fighting skills!
Naruto: What are you saying?!
As the two of them were arguing, they were so busy lashing out at each other that they completely missed out on Sakura going over to the wounded Shinobi.
Sasuke: Yes, you heard m-... Sakura?!
Naruto: !!
Seeing it in the last minute, the two of them were just about to run over to her to stop her, but it was already too late.
Sakura: Hey, are you okay??
Wounded Shinobi: I... They just attacked us, even though they knew we had the same Scroll as them... They... They-...
Sakura: Hush, don't speak.
Expecting a blast, both Sasuke and Naruto covered for their eyes as they were inches away from reaching her, but to their surprise, nothing happened as the two of them put their hands down again while Sakura began to treat the guy with her medical techniques.
Sasuke: Sakura...
Naruto: Who's the smart one of us you said??
Sasuke: Idiot! It's better to be safe than sorry, and you know it!
Sakura: Now, this should do long enough for you to forfeit and to get some real treatment... I'm sorry I couldn't do more.
Wounded Shinobi: That's alright... I just, I would have hoped that some of the other teams that came by would have helped us out sooner, then my two teammates might have made-... made...
Sasuke: Other teams?
Wounded Shinobi: Yeah, after our battle with those Shinobi who left us for dead, three other teams arrived here, but none of them offered to help, and neither did they dare take the Scroll... I guess they must have feared that it was a trap or something...
Naruto: Hmm... So that other team you were fighting was just out for blood? Guess we'll have to be careful from now on then.
Wounded Shinobi: Thanks anyhow, you three should take the Scroll as you never know when and if you'll need a spare one. In the meantime, I'll pull forth the sign of forfeiting...
Sakura: You do that.
Getting back up on her feet, Sakura went over to the Scroll as she picked it up and tossed it over to Naruto.
Naruto: ??
Sakura: You should have it... It's better to keep the two Scrolls apart than to have Sasuke carrying them both, that way, we'll minimize the risk of losing them both.
Naruto: Right.
The three of them then took off as the Wounded Shinobi reached out for an item in his bag. Traveling off at immense speed through the tree-tops, the three of them suddenly stopped in their track as they saw three Shinobi seated by some rocks by a riverbed just up ahead. Not able to see who they were clearly enough, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura hid in the trees, planning their next move.
Naruto: Should we attack head on? I mean, what if they have the same Scroll as us??
Sakura: Or, what if they are the ones that slaughtered that poor guy's team??
Naruto: Ehm...
Sakura: I'll use my Byakugan to find ou-...
Sasuke: No time to waste!
Naruto: ?!
Sakura: Sasuke, wait up!!
Reaching out for the sword on Naruto's back, Sasuke quickly jumped out from the trees with his Sharingan activated and the short sword in his hands, as he went straight for the one closest to him. But as he got there, his opponent quickly turned around, drawing one of his swords as well, as the two of them clashed head on.
Sasuke: You?!
Jumping back to gain some space, Sasuke was quickly joined by Naruto and Sakura, as the two other members of the unknown team in front of them, also came towards them.
Tadakatsu: Well, well well, if it isn't Konoha's famous eye users!
Magoichi: Haha, who would have thought we would run into you guys this early?
Noh: What a... relief to see that it is... you guys...
Sasuke: I... Well it doesn't matter, this is the survival of the fittest, so please hand over your Scroll!
Tadakatsu: Bwahahahaha! Are you trying to be funny Sasuke?! You know you're no match for us, not even you are that stupid, so just hand over yours!
Sasuke: Idiot!! You are begging for it! Finally, I'll be able to face off with you, without anyone else interfering!
Sakura: Maybe we should just-...
Sasuke: Maybe we should what Sakura?! You do want to get to the next round, don't you?! Then there is no room for sentiments, even for our fellow Konoha Shinobi!
Tadakatsu: Then bring it! Let's see what you got!
As Sasuke readied himself for a battle with Tadakatsu, Naruto suddenly interfered.
Naruto: Just wait a moment... Noh, what Scroll do you guys have??
Noh: Naruto-Kun... I-...
Magoichi: Ehh?? What's the matter Noh?
Noh: I-... I-... I---
Tadakatsu: Heh! The Earth Scroll of course! What do you have?!
Naruto: Geez... The same...
Tadakatsu: What?!
Sasuke: I see you have adopted those Grass Shinobi's ways Naruto... Not bad, but I would have preferred to do battle instead...
Magoichi: What a drag! If you guys have the same Scroll, then what's the point of wasting our time?
Sakura: Well then, guess we should split up.
Tadakatsu: Heh, you better run for it! I would have had this fight regardless, but you're right, see you losers later!
Sasuke: You coward!
Tadakatsu: What was that? I didn't hear you...
Naruto: Or!
As Tadakatsu's team were just about to leave, or rather, as Tadakatsu was just about to leave, followed by Magoichi and Noh, Naruto halted their march as he had thought out an idea of his own.
Tadakatsu: ...
Magoichi: Or?? What do you mean or??
Sakura: Well?
Sasuke: ...
Naruto: Or! We could team up, and track down two teams with the Scroll of Heaven together! That way, we could help each other to the next round.
Tadakatsu: Ohh?? Help each other out?? Bah! Like we need your help...
Sasuke: What was that?! If anything, you guys will need our help to advance to the next stage!
Magoichi: Well... The idea is not bad I suppose, but... Do we really need your help I wonder?
Tadakatsu: Hahaha! If you guys need help to make it to the next round, you might as well go look for the last Konoha Team that made it to this round of the Exam...
Magoichi: That would be the team of Oichi, Nene and Musashi...
Tadakatsu: Or, you might just give up like Sakon, Leyasu and Ginchiyo did on the first stage!
Sasuke: Are you taunting me for a fight you idiot?!
Almost breaking out in a fight again, the two of them were up in each other faces as Magoichi shook his head slowly back and forth while Sakura clutched her face. Naruto however, didn't really know what to do as he tried to break them up alone.
Magoichi: What a drag this is.
Noh: Ehm... ehm... Couldn't we just... Just-...
Tadakatsu: What is it, speak up!!
Turning his attention towards her, it seemed as if he was about to do her harm.
Noh: !! I-... I-... Don't hurt... me...
Scared by his rage, Noh didn't know whether to blush or cry as she started backing away from him.
Naruto: Hey, don't talk to her like that you bastard!
Getting in front of her as if meaning to protect her, Naruto yelled at Tadakatsu who was infuriated at each and everyone around him.
Noh: Naruto-Kun...
Tadakatsu: What?! Do you seriously think I would hurt my own teammate?? How stupid are you!
Noh: Just stop it, all of you!!!
Naruto: !!
Tadakatsu: ?!
Sasuke: ...
Magoichi: Noh?? You never...
Suddenly out of nowhere, Noh finally managed to speak her mind as the rest was shocked to see this.
Noh: Can't we just tag along for now at least? I think it's a great idea.
Tadakatsu: Humph! Fine I guess, it's not like I can do this on my own without you two backing me up...
Sasuke: Heh, yeah alright then.
With each of them crossing their arms together, the two of them then took off in each their direction as Tadakatsu and the rest of his team went to get their back-packages. Gathering together at the middle of the small field, Tadakatsu then spoke out.
Tadakatsu: Alright listen up, we'll only team up as long as necessary, and when both of us have our hands on a Scroll of Heaven, then we're on our own.
Naruto: Agreed I suppose...
Sasuke: And who made you leader??
Tadakatsu: Just shut your trap for once Sasuke!
Sasuke: Bring it you coward, back those words of yours up!
Almost flying at each other again, Naruto and Magoichi had to break them up once more.
Sasuke: Humph...
Tadakatsu: Just do as I say, we'll take the first Scroll we come across, then we'll help you get yours.
Sasuke: What did you say?! No way!
Naruto: Okay fine! Will the two of you stop freaking arguing!! At this rate, we'll never get anywhere!
Magoichi: *Sigh*
Noh: You guys...
Sakura: Naruto is right, I suggest we get moving.
Sasuke: Fine...
Tadakatsu: Alright then, this way.
Turning around, Tadakatsu started to walk away from them, as if expecting them to follow his lead, as Magoichi and Noh quickly hurried over to him. Sakura then went as well, but Naruto could see that Sasuke was hesitating, apparently pissed off to his limit on Tadakatsu. Laying his hand on Sasuke's shoulder, Naruto firmly gave him a signal of understanding his rage, but that for now, they should just get along with it. Giving Naruto his short sword back, the two of them then decided to catch up with the rest, as the two Konoha Shinobi teams were just about to start looking for their first Scroll of the Heaven.
Sasuke: You might take the role as the leader Tadakatsu, but I'll show you soon enough.
Naruto: ...
Tadakatsu: Hehe, well then, let's see if we're actually able to work together for once, Sasuke.
Jumping up in the tree-tops, the six of them raced off as the ground beside the rocks where Tadakatsu's team had been seated earlier, suddenly began to transform as something emerged out of it.
*Zuzuzu*
White Zetsu: So, that young team over there is the Legacy of Naruto... His great grandchildren... One of them is even named after him. How interesting...
Black Zetsu: ...
White Zetsu: How long has it been now since the war ended and Tobi and Kabuto got defeated anyways?
Black Zetsu: ...40 years...
White Zetsu: My, my, this means Naruto must be 72 by now then, if he's still alive.
Black Zetsu: He is...
White Zetsu: His Legacy sure has blossomed I must say... Both his son Jiraiya, and his grandson Minato, became Hokages after him, and that Jiraiya is the Sensei of these three... Even they are becoming old at this stage with Jiraiya being around 52 and Minato being around 31... These kids though, can't be more than thirteen years old I suppose...
Black Zetsu: Why care... About age nor time... It has no effect on us... And only remains as a number... With Naruto on Mt. Myo as the new Great Toad Sage, we will have to be weary of our movements...
White Zetsu: You're right about that...
Black Zetsu: Come, we should move before someone senses our presence.
*Zuzuzu*
Merging back into the ground again, the mysterious creature Zetsu was gone once more.
[...]
Naruto: And this, concludes the first part of the story...
Ikari: Oh, you need a break?
Naruto: Heh, first of all, there are six parts in total to be told of this story, and secondly, I need a water break. Now go fetch me something to drink and we'll continue afterwards.
Ikari: Fine, just make sure to not die in that chair while I'm away...
Naruto: What was that?!
Picking up a shoe from the floor, Naruto the 2nd threw it after him as Ikari ran towards the kitchen. Coming back shortly thereafter, Naruto took a sip of the glass of water as he continued his story again.
Naruto: Well then, let's move on to part two...
* Will the two teams be able to work together and make it to the next round? Where are the last Konoha team, will we see anything from them soon? What about Zetsu and its plan? And what else lies around the corner? Find out as the final sequel of this Series continues, Next Time! *

Fun Facts & Author's Note:
1: Well, after the first chapter of this final sequel, I do have a feeling that this is not exactly what you guys would had expected, no? The truth is, that this idea has been in my head for some time now, and it feels pretty... fresh to write this sequel, like a new experience so to speak. So far, only one canon character (Zetsu) has appeared, and all of the rest are original ones. That gives me both a challenge, but also more free "reins" as I don't have to limit myself to already existing characters, but rather, just submerge my original ones into an already existing universe. The whole setup of this story, by having Naruto the 2nd "telling" the story to his great great grandson, and jumping in and out of present/past was an idea that I was inspired to do by watching some movies lately, one of them which was The Hobbit, where Bilbo in the film starts telling the viewers the tale of his adventure. Also to be added is that this will also set up the storyline that will take place in the Short Movie that I will do to end it all with, just be sure to remember the name "Ikari" for when the times comes ;D I don't know what you think about this "new" way of lineup by me, but please give me a heads-up on whether you think it was a fresh idea or not. Personally, I think I've managed to capture the "soul" of the Naruto-verse, especially with this first chapter which I really enjoyed writing. After all, for a time being, I was only 50/50 on whether I would be doing this sequel or not, but in the end, I think it was a good choice. Much content and story to come in the next five chapters! ;D
2: Being a short sequel, consisting of only six chapters in total, I've already taken my time to finish the whole of it before releasing the first one, and even if this tale seems as if it's a completely new story, some familiar faces and elements will start appearing from Chapter 3 and onward. Despite this taking a good distance away from Kishi's original tale, do you still find it interesting? Or are you in need of the real Naruto for you to be enjoying this? Tell me what you think below!
3: The Written Exam of the Chunin Exam... Some of you may wonder, so I thought I would just address it right away. The reason to why I skipped out on this part, was simply because I didn't have any ideas to make it interesting, and because I wanted to move on to the second part where the real fun begins.
4: Some of the supporting cast to Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura the 2nd, that I've lined out in this first chapter, will play a part in later chapters as well, while others won't. At the time I was writing this chapter, I wasn't really sure who I would use later on, so at that point I just decided to give them all some description, even though some of them don't have a role to play later.
5: Zetsu... As I've briefly hinted at before, he will be the "main" villain of this final sequel... I originally thought of introducing him in the second chapter, but, for buildup's sake, I decided to incorporate that part in the first chapter instead as I found that more fitting. In fact, I think with this sequel, I've been very... "lenient" on my pre-made notes, as it's the first time in a long while, where I've often left out, changed or disregarded the notes I had noted down beforehand completely, instead of following them to the smallest point. Reason to this is simply because when I wrote the notes for this sequel a while back, I mostly wrote them as "possible outcomes" rather than outcomes that I was certain I would follow. One example is chapter 2, where I almost disregarded my notes entirely and just wrote the chapter as I saw fit. And that, has never happened before in my writing career for chapters where I've had detailed notes, I suppose.
6: If you noticed, I decided to change font for this final sequel, as I was a tad tired of the one I used for Returns. Another thing, I was suppose to release this chapter two weeks ago, as I finished everything except for the polishing work around the 25th of September. The reason it took so long is because I was busy building and working on a concept, which ultimately was "too serious" for the Base (not Fanfiction series related). Some of you may have seen it, others may not, but in the end, the whole deal made me lose interest in doing anything regarding the Base, as I practically wasted 8 hours on it, 8 hours I could have spent finishing this sequel faster. However, now it finally arrives, and I do hope you guys like it
7: Okay, that is all I have for this chapter, more notes coming next time! I hope you liked it, thank me thumbs up if you did, and as always people, have an awesome day ;D Oh, and since I have this Sequel done already, I'll be releasing 1-2 chapters a week from now on!!

The Legendary Sage of Konoha's Legacy, Chapter 1;
The Chunin Exam?!:
[...]
