The Legendary Sage of Konoha​

Author`s note:
~ This is my very first Fanfiction, so please give it a chance and consider that fact if you for some reason don`t like it. First of all I would like to thank Kuroi Honoo and ~ Akash ~ for their support and inspiration.
Without you, I would never have gotten the inspiration I needed to start this FF (Fanfiction) at all, so thanks to you. And to the rest of you, I hope that you will enjoy it and give feedback.
Let’s just hope that I've not made any grammar errors, thanks ~

Introduction: I've decided to reveal as little as possible before the first chapter, but it goes like this.
The story of my FF is set to 16 years after current manga time (the 4th great ninja war) and will start off with an extra big opening chapter (actually, I will divide the first chapter in two parts), but that will only be for the first chapter.
Ongoing events, Character details(Such as their names and not only their title) and description will be revealed as the chapters goes by. That`s all I`m going to reveal for now, and without further ado, here`s chapter one titled...

Chapter 1, Part 1: Akatsuki Returns:​

~ *Step, Step, Step*​

Narrator: Footsteps could be heard down the corridor as a Konoha shinobi walked towards the Hokage office.

*Knock, Knock*​

Hokage: Come in.

Narrator: The door opens while a tall man with black hair enters.

Hokage: Ah it`s you Shikamaru, come on in.

Shikamaru: Hokage sama, I got some urgent reports from the Sand village, Cloud village and the Mist village about multiple attacks around their borders.

Hokage: Go on..

Shikamaru: In Sunagakure, Gaara reports that some of his top sand shinobies has spotted signs of Akatsuki members traveling through the Wind country, while in Kirigakure, Mei reports that several islands have been attacked throughout the Water country by unknown shinobies, possible Akatsuki.

In Kumogakure, Killerbee reports that the village has been attacked by two Akatsuki members but they managed to hold them back. Latest reports indicates that Akatsuki are either testing the strength of the shinobi alliance to see if we still manages to hold our own against them or that they`re back and have strengthen their forces.

Hokage: But why would Akatsuki strike now after all these years in hiding?
I mean, we have been looking for them with the best search squadron the alliance could provide for the last 12 years, but no sign of them has been found after they suddenly disappeared in the aftermath of the major battle in the grass country.

Beside, wasn't Akatsuki down to only Madara, Zetsu and Kabuto?

Shikamaru: Well that`s exactly the thing we don`t know. We still need to find out why Akatsuki decided to appear in three of the five great shinobi villages and if they have recruited new members considering that several members have been spotted in different countries at the same time peri...

*Knock, Knock*​

Narrator: Shikamaru gets interrupted while the door opens and an Anbu appears.

Anbu: A message bird just arrived from Iwagakure. The hidden rock village has been attacked by a large scale attack lead by Kabuto and Zetsu. This resulted in the death of the 4th Tsuchikage.

Hokage and Shikamaru: What?!

Anbu: However, it is also reported that an unknown shinobi managed to repel Zetsu and Kabuto right after the 4th died, so the casualty was minimal. It is also rumored that this shinobi will become the new Tsuchikage.

Shikamaru: How can this be?! The 4th died?! At least it`s a good thing they managed to repel the attack, but this might damages the strength of our alliance. Even worse, who knows what could have happened if Iwagakure had fallen to Akatsuki. If only the 4th Tsuchikage had survived as well. Either way, one thing is puzzling me. What Iwa shinobi is strong enough to fight both Zetsu and Kabuto at the same time? It can`t be... him?

Hokage: We`ll find out soon enough. Anbu, I want you to send out message birds to all of the kages telling them to prepare for a meeting.

?: Actually, that won`t be necessary.

Shikamaru: *In a surprised tone* Kakashi sensei!

Narrator: Kakashi enters through the window.

Hokage: What do you mean?

Kakashi: Another bird from Mei has arrived.

Narrator: Kakashi hands over a letter to Shikamaru

Shikamaru: *Reads* After the current events and the sudden return of the Akatsuki, I the 5th Mizukage Mei Terumi, invites all the Kages to a meeting in Kirigakure in 4 days to discuss how to deal with the Akatsuki once and for all.

Hokage: Looks like we`ll be heading to Kirigakure.


Hokage: That will be all for now. Kakashi, alert the village that me and a selected few will be attending the meeting in 4 days. Further details will come later. Anbu, you can go now, thank you for your services.

Kakashi: Alright.

Anbu: Then I`m off *Disappears with a poof and a little cloud of smoke hanging in the air*.

Hokage: Shikamaru, you can stay. I want to discuss this matter further with you.

Shikamaru: ...

Hokage: Who do you think I should bring with us to the meeting? I`m thinking of three people beside myself.

Shikamaru: Okay, who?

Hokage: Since you`re my head adviser, second in command, the smartest and the most tactical person in town I want you to join to hear out your thoughts about the situation as well.

Shikamaru: I`m not so sure if I`m the smartest one, but if you want me to come as well, does that mean you`re leaving the village in the hands of th...

Hokage: No, I`m bringing her as well.

Shikamaru: Then Sakura will be in charge?

Hokage: No, not her either. She will accompany us to the meeting as well.

Shikamaru: Ehm.. Not so sure if that`s such a good idea. I can see why you want both of your advisers with you to the meeting, but considering the fact that none of us, which are both second in command, will be in charge of Konoha while you are gone, and neither Sakura who is third in command.

Who would be in charge of Konoha then?

Hokage: I know the perfect candidate. After all, he wanted to become a Hokage too some time ago.

Shikamaru: And that is?

Hokage: The leader of the Anbu organization.

Shikamaru: Are you really sure about that? I mean, he...

Hokage: Will do fine. I`ll notify him personally as soon as I`ve gathered the ones needed to come with me and those who I will put in charge of Konohagakure and its defense while I`m gone.

Shikamaru: Alright, if you say so. So you really think he`s.. Well.. fit to the job?

Hokage: He is the Anbu leader after all. I believe he`s more than enough “fit” for the job, and besides, it`s only for a short period.

*Suddenly the door opens*​

Hokage: ...

Shikamaru: Jiraiya, nice to see you.

~ Narrator: As Jiraiya enters the Hokage office the images of the scene fades out and a new scene fades in...

Narrator: The Hokage was in her office enjoying a cup of sake, suddenly the door goes wide open causing her sake to spill out over her table.

Hokage: *Humph* ... Shikamaru, why do you bust through the door like that! See what you just made me do to my delicious sake! It`s all gone..

Shikamaru: No time for that Gondaime(5th Hokage), I got urgent news for you.

Tsunade : It better be worth more than my spilled sake.

Narrator: She said while filling her cup once more from the bottle of sake on her table.

Shikamaru: You bet! It`s about Naruto.

Tsunade: What about him?

Narrator: She said while taking a mouthful of her cup.

Shikamaru: Naruto has decided to leave the village just like Jiraiya once did.

Tsunade: *Psss* ... *Hark, Hark* ... What?!

Narrator: She said after spitting out the sake in a loud burst.

Shikamaru: And he took his wife with him.

Narrator: After wiping her mouth, she said:

Tsunade: "Damn it, why did he had to leave at the same time as I was enjoying my sake. Spilling and spitting out my precious sake like this can`t be good for my throat and neither my economy."

Shikamaru: *Kremt*

Tsunade: Oh yeah, you where saying?

Shikamaru: *In thought* "Ahh."

Naruto. He left and took his wife with him. He said he would follow his sensei`s footstep and leave the village for awhile. He also said he wanted to follow a clue on Sasuke`s whereabouts.

Tsunade: Why didn't you stop him?

Shikamaru: Kakashi told me this.

Tsunade: And why didn't he stop him?

Shikamaru: He read a note left by Naruto at his apartment.

Narrator: Tsunade started filling her cup once again from her bottle with sake.

Shikamaru: Maybe you shouldn't drink that much?

Tsunade: Don`t tell me what to do, I`m the 5th Hokage.

Shikamaru: I know it`s troublesome, but it`s clouding your thoughts.

Tsunade: What do you mean by that?

Shikamaru: Never mind... Anyway, what are you going to do?

Tsunade: What I`m going to do?

Shikamaru: With the situation.

Tsunade: Oh yeah, ehm... Let him and his wife leave the village for as long as they wish.

Shikamaru: But... He`s the strongest shinobi in this village. We will need him for upcoming battles against Akatsuki, and since they`re after him. Wouldn`t it be better to have him around friends in the village?

?: No need to worry.

Tsunade: Can`t you just use the door for once Kakashi?

Narrator: Kakashi steps down from the window and enters the Hokage office.

Kakashi: ...
Never mind that. I thought you would start discussing his choice to leave, but as I said. There`s no need to worry.

He`s not only one of the best shinobies this village has ever seen, but he surpassed both his father and the second Hokage in time/space techniques and he has his wife with him too.

Remember, we can`t stop him from living his own life.
He has full control over the Kyuubi and he has mastered sage mode. If Akatsuki comes after him, they shouldn't pose a threat right now. Remember his fight with Pain? He shouldn't really have any problem with the remaining members. And beside, in their current condition, they shouldn't have enough resources to go after him.

Shikamaru: Yeah i guess you`re right.

Tsunade: Just like i was going to tell you Shikamaru.

Narrator: She said while laying her head down on the table. Kakashi and Shikamaru watched her with awkward faces.

Shikamaru: I can`t believe she passed out of drinking sake in the middle of the day.
she`s going to be alright, right?

Kakashi: Let her sleep. She has had a though week you know.

Shikamaru: Yeah I know.

Narrator: With that, the images of scene fades out and a new scene fades in.

*Author`s note: The flashback ends and we`re back in real-time.*

Jiraiya: Hi there Shikamaru, Hi dad.

Hokage: Hi son, little early to be up isn't it?

Jiraiya: Well It ain't that early, and besides, I couldn't sleep anymore.

Hokage: I see, looking forward to your presents perhaps?

Jiraiya: I`m not a little kid anymore. It`s not like I’m going crazy just because it`s my birthday.

Shikamaru: Oh that reminds me. Here`s my present to you, happy twelve year’s day.

Jiraiya: Oh thanks Shikamaru!...

Narrator: Said Jiraiya while opening his present.

Jiraiya: Aha! How did you know that I wanted this?! Thank you so much!

Shikamaru: No problem, just be careful with it.

Jiraiya: Yeah sure.

Hokage: Nice gift you got there son. The first present of the day I suppose?

Jiraiya: Yeah it is. So when will I get yours dad?

Narrator: He said in a hopeful tone.

Hokage: Later today son. I need to prepare something first.

Jiraiya: Okay dad, looking forward to then. Anyway, I better get going. See you later then dad, Shikamaru.

Hokage and Shikamaru: Bye...

First of all I would like to say that I hope it didn`t contain any grammar errors of some sort.
If it did, then I`m sorry, but English isn`t my mother tongue. I went through it a couple of time though before releasing it, so it shouldn`t really be any as far as I know.

Anyway, since this is my first FF and the first chapter of it, I wanted it to be longer than a normal chapter like Kishi and other manga writers did with their first chapter. So upcoming chapters will not be as long as this one and will not have two parts unfortunately.

I`m aware that it`s a lot of dialogues right now, but I need it to be to get a good standpoint on where the story is right now, but I promise that from chapter 3 some action will start

Actually, i haven`t desided on who the Hokage in the current time(my FF time) is, that`s why i`ve only written "Hokage" instead of Naruo.

Like with Kakashi`s first apperance, i marked him as "?" so that the reader shouldn`t know who he was right away, but then Shikamaru revealed it to be Kakashi.

Same goes for the flashback scene. First I only wrote "Hokage", then i revealed it to (still) be Tsunade.

So to my point. There`s a reason i haven`t written Naruto in the current time, because i still haven`t desided on who`s the Hokage yet, and because i want it to be kept secret for a while

I`m guessing you thought it to be Naruto because the son`s name is Jiraiya, but i actually desided that before i even thought on who the Hokage is.

But i can reveal one thing, and that is that i got three candidates, and that Naruto may not even be one of them.

I hope you will continue to read my FF as the next chapters arrives, and btw, chapter 2 is scheduled for Thirsday or Wedensday. Be sure to look for it

It`s only because it`s the first chapter. It should approx. be twice as long as my normal chapters will be. 2 in 1 you could say.

Don't see any obvious grammar mistakes, a bit of an unusual timeline to follow, but I like the concept and the character of the canon-characters have been copied well. It happens a lot when people use canon-characters in their FF, their character completely differs from their real character in the manga.

Good to hear. Was hoping that it didn`t contain any (obvious) errors.
Read the writting tips by Hellknight before i started writing, and it helped a little on the progress.

When i decided on what to write about, i didn`t want it to be too close to the current manga, but neither too long into the future, and it was then it struck me.

Maybe i should make it 16 years later than the current manga like the current manga is after the attack of the Kyubi. Furthermore i didn`t want the 16 year elapse to be unknown to the reader, thus the (first) flashback(and it won`t be the last one).

Lastly, yeah i`m keeping in mind how the characters of the manga/anime behaves so that they may resemble them as much as possible, but with some minor changes regarding how they get older and may change a little.

You could make Sasuke the 6th. Even though I can't stand Sasuke I thought it would be cool. No Uchiha has been Hokage before. You could have him kill Madara just as Madara is about to kill Naruto (to redeem himself). Naruto passes up Hokage and gives it to Sasuke. I dunno. Just a thought.

I just finished reading your first ever fanfic and I have to say it was awesome!!! Thank you so very much for giving credit to me even though you really did not have to. I mean you nailed it with success, truly I am proud of your work and I like your style of work as it is somewhat similar to my own ^.^ You, me and Kenshin all started with Naruto as the base for a fanfic and I thought that was cool. Too bad Sasuke is still on the run -_- I would have loved for him to have been turned by Naruto and returned back to Konoha with Sakura but of well, at the very least his character was included and I am pleased for that. I wonder who Naruto is married to Hinata, Sakura or maybe even someone you would not expect (I do hope for the latter as I always wanted SasukexSakura and Hinatax either Shino or Kiba is not a bad choice).

Shikamaru became second in command and older Kakashi still cannot seem to use the front door lol I like the fact that Akatsuki has made their return with new members (which should be quite interesting). You did have minor grammar but you know for someone not having English as their mother tongue you did damn well and your English is understandable and even I who has English as my first language learned has made many mistakes so please do not feel bad about it all. I mean, you and pervy are the only ones left of the "old" crewU_U and you are one of the sources for my inspiration after all

Well as you might get the story hasn`t even got outside the Hokage office yet, so there`s many other characters`"fate" to reveal yet, including Lee, Neji, Kiba, and Sasuke among others, so no need to give up "hope" yet

The Hokage`s wife will be revealed soon, and as I`ve said, it`s not for sure who the hokage is yet..

Lastly, you did what I`ve hoped for and that is for someone to comment different aspects of the chapter like Kakashi entering through the window(may not be like his true character at all, but i wanted him to replace Jiraiya`s role on entering through itxd) and Akatsuki`s return

However, i still wanted someone to comment about the kages(Mei and Gaara still being Mizukage and Kazekage, Killerbee becoming Raikage, that Ònoki has left the kage role for somebody else(who recently died) and that the shinobi who fought off both Kabuto and Zetsu is rumored to become the next one), who the other "second in command" along side Shikamaru is, and who the Anbu leader is.

Even so, that doesn`t really matter, because it will be revealed in the upcoming chapters
