The Legendary Sage of Konoha Returns, Chapter 30;
*The flow of time and space finally goes back to present time, as this sequel comes to an end with its last chapter!!*
As Naruto, Sasuke, Minato and Itachi had returned to the village, the flow of time continued, seeing Minato teaming up with Hiruzen and Mito's kids, Ami and Aiko, as Hiruzen himself became their Sensei, just like Jiraiya planned. Later that year, and right before Minato's 10th birthday, the three of them participated in the Chunin exam. Set to not do anything less than what his father Jiraiya managed to accomplish before him, knowing well in mind that he would have to do his utmost to impress everyone that had faith in him, the three of them advance through the first two exams with ease, at least until they reached the Quarter-Final stage. Minato was able to pull through without much trouble, but Ami and Aiko were unfortunate enough to face each other. After a long battle, Aiko managed to advance through to the next stage, just like her father Hiruzen once did before her, while Ami however, had to acknowledge that she, as her mother Mito before her, wasn't able to advance to the next stage. Seeing the Semi-Final draw, Aiko knew she was at her limit, as not only was she still exhausted after facing her twin sister in the previous round, but she was to face Minato himself. After a short round, Aiko ended up forfeiting the match, after Minato was unable to fight her properly. Managing to pull through to the final, like Jiraiya before him, Minato had no trouble winning as he claimed first place, and together with his rival, he was one of two that were promoted to Chunin. Just about one year later, right before Minato's 11th birthday, his aunt Kushina came to Konoha, together with Ebizo and Gaara, as her birthday was celebrated. Not only that, but Mu was there as well, as his mother, his brother and his sister, together with himself of course, had something they were going to do together the very next day. At the end of the party, and as the day was coming to a close, it was revealed that Kushina was pregnant, and that she and Ebizo were expecting twins. Both happy for them, but at the same time sad because they lived in another village, Minato had an argument with his father Jiraiya, before marching off to bed. Their mission, taking less time to complete than they thought, Hiruzen and Mito arrived late the very same day as they went on it, and as Jiraiya was expecting Yamato to return after visiting his father on Mt. Myo the next day, the final pieces were about to fall in place as the sun stood up outside their window. 20 whole years had passed since the war now, and with Naruto at Mt. Myo, and Sasuke's current whereabouts unknown, the new generation seemed to already have taken over.
Jiraiya: *Yawn* What time is it?
Reaching his hand out to turn off the alarm, Jiraiya noticed it was getting later than what he had expected.
Jiraiya: Damn it, I should have been at the office by now... Time to get up.
Miyuki: *Yawn* Jiraiya... Can't you stay a bit longer, it's Sunday morning after all, what's the rush?
Stretching her arms around him, trying to force him to stay a bit longer, Miyuki moved in closer to him.
Jiraiya: I wish I could, but there was this thing I was suppose to do yesterday, remember? However, since I stalled it until today, I better get up now, or I'll get scolded by Hiruzen and Mito for sleeping in late. You know how persistent those two can be...
Sliding out of the bed, Jiraiya started dressing himself as Miyuki sat up on his side of the bed.
Miyuki: What time is it anyways?
Jiraiya: 9 Am...
Miyuki: I see... Well I better get up as well then.
She said as she passed through the door and out in the living room as Jiraiya went to Minato's room.
*Knock Knock*
Minato: Zzz...
Jiraiya: Geez... Minato, I told you not to oversleep!
Minato: No...Zzz... Ami don't go away, come back Aiko...Zzz...
Jiraiya: ...
Minato: That's more like it...ZzZ...
Jiraiya: Last warning...
Minato: Zzz...
Jiraiya: That's it, Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu (Water Style: Water Dragon technique)!
Minato: Wait.. What?!
Miyuki: Jiraiya?!! What on earth are you doing?!
Filling Minato's room with water, all three of them got soaking wet.
Minato: Okay okay, I'm awake! Geez, are you trying to drown us or something?
Jiraiya: I told you not to oversleep yesterday, and look what you did.
Minato: What? I didn't oversleep, the clock is only... What?! It's 9 Am?! Hiruzen is going to kill me!
As Minato ran straight to the bathroom to get prepared for the day, Jiraiya uttered a deep sigh.
Jiraiya: *Sigh* Miyuki, could you?
Miyuki: *Sigh* Alright, someone has to clean up this mess... And yes, I'll be more careful than you. Futon: Shinkūgyoku (Vacuum Bullets).
Gently releasing her wind style, and adding some heat to it with her trademark Uchiha fire style, Miyuki proceeded to vaporize the water until all of it were gone.
Miyuki: There, that ought to do it. Now, remember that we made that "No jutsu inside the house" rule for a reason.
Jiraiya: Ehehehe, yeah I know, but...
Giving him a tired, yet a bit worked up look, Jiraiya decided to leave for the Hokage-Mansion before he got in real trouble. As he went out the door, Minato came out from the bathroom.
Miyuki: And you young man!
Minato: What?! What have I done.. I.. I.. Ahhhh!
Furious that Minato once again overslept for his training session, Miyuki shot vacuum bullets after him as he ran out the door of the house.
[...]
Mito: What on earth happened to you? You look like a mess, Jiraiya.
Entering the Hokage Mansion, Mito was already there, preparing the day's tasks.
Jiraiya: Long story... Let's just say it involves water.
Mito: I see... Shall we?
Jiraiya: Right... I'll get the work I should have done yesterday out of the way first, then I'll get the paper work done... I guess...
Mito: You never liked the paper work, did you?
Meanwhile on the training ground, Minato was getting scolded by Hiruzen for being late once again.
Hiruzen: What is there to be done with you... Geez, like father like son they say.
Minato: Hey I'm not that sloppy! It's just that... Ah, never mind, let's just get on with the mission we have today.
Hiruzen: Alright, but first, I need you to do 1000 pushups for me.
Minato: What?! What for?
Hiruzen: For getting late, now go.
Minato: Fine, alright alright.
?: *Giggle*
?: Hush! Don't let him hear you...
Hiruzen: Ami, Aiko, let's do some practical training over here.
Ami and Aiko (In Unison): Right away dad.
Minato (In Thought): Stupid... dumb... #"&%...
Apparently both pissed and disappointed of himself for being late once again, Minato began doing the pushups, as Hiruzen trained Ami and Aiko some couple of yards away.
[...]
*Some hours later*
Jiraiya: That should be the last piece... Oh look at the clock, it's not even past 1 pm yet. Looks like I'm getting better at this!
Mito: Don't praise yourself too much yet, I'm the one having to go over your paper work to see if everything is in order, after you're done.
Jiraiya: Ehehehe, I guess you're right about that... What should I have done without you.
Mito: Yeah, what should you have done without me? And let's not forget Hiruzen.
Jiraiya: Hehe, well yeah, we've been a team forever... Anyways, I think I'll be heading out for some fresh air, you think you can handle the rest yourself then?
Mito: Yeah yeah, no problem, off you go.
Jiraiya: Right.
Closing the door behind him as he left, Jiraiya walked down the stairs and into the town. As he walked down the street he saw countless children playing around with their parents close by. Some of them ran over to him to greet him as he bent down to their height to meet with them. He then got up as he continued to walk further down the street as he closed in on the east gate, and the road towards the training ground. As he walked down by the riverside, he spotted Minato, Ami and Aiko training with Hiruzen as he positioned himself by a nearby tree and watched them from distance. Leaning towards the tree with his right side, he suddenly felt a firm hand landing on his left shoulder, catching him by surprise.
Jiraiya: !!
?: Whoa, a little shaky today Jiraiya? Didn't mean to scare you.
Jiraiya: Kakashi-Sensei, didn't expect to run into you here... And no worries.
Kakashi: Well I was actually on my way home to Yugao when I spotted you down here, so I thought I would stop by to say hello.
Jiraiya: I see... So how are you doing these days anyways? Didn't see you at the birthday party yesterday. In fact, I haven't seen you for awhile now that I think about it.
Kakashi: Well yeah, I was meaning to go, but something came up. Gai and his wife needed our help with some things, so the four of us spent the evening together.
Jiraiya: That's great. I guess you still spend a lot of time hanging out with Gai.
Kakashi: Haha, yeah, old friends are hard to forget... And since our kids moved out long time ago, I guess it's good to keep in touch with the people you care for.
Jiraiya: You're right about that.
Kakashi: You know, you standing here watching Minato train, secretly in the distance, reminds me of Naruto.
Jiraiya: What do you mean? My father never really had the time to watch me train except for the Chunin and Jonin exams.
Kakashi: That's not what I meant, Naruto used to come down here whenever he could, to watch Yamato, Hiruzen, Mito and you train from a distance.
Jiraiya: Well if he did... How come he never told me about it?
Kakashi: Does Minato know that you watches him train from a distance, from time to time?
Jiraiya: ... I guess you have a point.
He said as a smile formed upon his face.
Jiraiya: Speaking of Yamato, Gai's kid and your sons should be back pretty soon from their mission with him.
Kakashi: Yeah they should, I guess Yamato has a lot to talk about when they get back.
Jiraiya: Hehe, yeah I bet he has alright.
Kakashi: ...
Jiraiya: So have you been up to date with the new generation of shinobi?
Kakashi: Are you kidding me, I lost track after your generation, although Minato, Ami and Aiko looks like a promising team.
Jiraiya: Heh, from the looks of it.
Kakashi: Hey, I don't think I ever asked why Hiruzen is their sensei? I mean, isn't it a bit strange that he's the sensei of both his daughters?
Jiraiya: Now that you mention it, I guess that's a bit strange, never put much thought in that.
Kakashi: Yeah...
Jiraiya: ...
Kakashi: Oh, Minato turns eleven next month, doesn't he?
Jiraiya: Yep, that's right.
Kakashi: So are you planning on letting him participate in the upcoming Jonin exam, later this year?
Jiraiya: ...
Kakashi: No one in the history of Konoha has become Jonin at a younger age than you were when you became one, and Minato will be only one year younger than that when he turns eleven.
Jiraiya pondered about Kakashi's question for a bit, as Kakashi continued.
Kakashi: It's only been a year since he became chunin, right? I'm not one to judge as I haven't been following Minato's progress too much the past years, but you might want to take precautions if you're planning on letting him in on the Jonin exam, as it might still be too soon.
Jiraiya: Yeah I suppose you're right...
?: So here you are!
Jiraiya: ??
Kakashi: Miyuki!
Miyuki: I thought I saw some familiar faces down by the river.
Jiraiya: Didn't you have some things to take care of today?
Miyuki: Yeah, but I found the time I needed, so I thought I would go for a walk, when I saw the two of you standing here. Are you watching Minato?
Jiraiya: Mhm...
Miyuki: ...
Kakashi: So I guess everything is just fine between the three of you?
Miyuki: Yes, everything is just fine. How about your family?
Kakashi: Everything is just good here as well.
Jiraiya: Oh that reminds me, Miyuki weren't you suppose to take care of some things with your mother and brothers today?
Miyuki: Right, now that you mention it, they wanted to meet back at our place.
Kakashi: ...
Jiraiya: Well, you better get going, you know Mü's patience when it comes to work. Especially if Itachi's there pushing him about it.
Miyuki: Yeah I suppose... Alright, I'll see you later then Jiraiya. And for God's sake, go over to Minato and the rest and at least say hello. Standing here like a creep when you're the Hokage...
Jiraiya: Uhh...
Kakashi: Haha, I'll make sure that we do.
Miyuki: Bye.
Jiraiya: Bye...
Kakashi: Thinking about how fast time goes by, makes me wonder what I've been up to the recent years.
Jiraiya: What do you mean?
Kakashi: Well I haven't exactly been keeping in touch with everyone, my memory is starting to become bad as well.
Jiraiya: Haha, you're not that old yet Kakashi-Sensei.
Kakashi: Hah, yeah I know, but still.
Jiraiya: ...
Kakashi: By the way, isn't Miyuki the daughter of Sasuke and Kurotsuchi?
Jiraiya: Yeah why?
Kakashi: Nothing, just got me thinking.
Jiraiya: About what?
Kakashi: About the past...
[...]
Kurotsuchi: Miyuki, there you are! Come, give your mother a hand with this.
Itachi: You're late sis...
Mu: *Sigh,* why am I even bothering with this? I should be back in Iwa by now... After all, I am the Tsuchika-...
Kurotsuchi: Ah stop complaining you two, your father is coming back from his training today after all.
Itachi: ...
Mu: Yeah, I guess you're right.
Miyuki: Then let's get started.
Arriving all the way from Iwa, Mu had participated in the birthday party that took place the day before, but his real intention with this journey, was to visit his mother, brother and sister, as his father, Sasuke, were on his way home after six months training in the mountains. The four of them were building something of minor proportion as a man appeared on the horizon.
Mu: Damn, I guess we should have started this project before...
Itachi: What do you mean?
Mu: Look...
Pointing with his hand, Itachi quickly realized what Mu meant as he turned in the direction of it, as Sasuke was slowly walking towards them.
Miyuki: Dad, you're home already?!
Kurotsuchi: I didn't think you would be home before the evening?
Sasuke: Oh... There's a welcome committee, just for me? Haha, well that's something new... But yeah, I made a shortcut actually. So Mu, you're here too?
Mu: Yeah, I figured I would surprise you, but, we were actually planing to build something for you.
Sasuke: Build something?
Itachi: Come, let's show you the script dad.
Turning his attention to a table standing on the side of them, Sasuke quickly followed as he hugged his wife and his children accordingly before doing so.
[...]
Jiraiya: ...The past you say??
Kakashi: Yeah...
Jiraiya: Anything in special?
Kakashi: Heh, well...
Still secretly watching over his son Minato, and his two teammates Ami and Aiko, training with their Sensei Hiruzen, Jiraiya was leaning himself up against a tree, seeking shade from the heat as he was joined by Kakashi.
Kakashi: With the time flying by so fast, it almost got me thinking that it really can't be 20 years since the war ended... And so much have happened since then.
Jiraiya: Yeah I suppose... Seeing Minato turning eleven next month, he will almost be the same age as I was during the time of the war... I almost feel old, haha...
Kakashi: You're one to speak... I'm already 66! And you're still only 32, and have the whole life ahead of you...
Jiraiya: Haha, we shall see about th-...
Minato: Dad?? What are you doing here?
Jiraiya: I'm...
As their training came to a temporary end, and Minato had been able to pull through with his 1000 push-ups, as instructed by Hiruzen for appearing late to practice, he quickly noticed his dad Jiraiya and Kakashi standing not too far away from them, as he went over to them. Realizing this, Hiruzen and his two daughters quickly followed.
Hiruzen: Jiraiya... I thought you and Mito were suppose to finish something at the office?
Jiraiya: Yeah well, we were more or less done, and besides, Mito offered herself to take care of the remaining parts...
Hiruzen: I see...
Jiraiya: So did the mission go well yesterday? I thought it would take a couple of days to complete, yet you two showed up late last night, haha. Luckily I managed to notify Minato that you were back for today's practice, but alas, it didn't seem to have much effect.
Minato: Dad! I know I overslept alright, no need to go on about it, geez.
Hiruzen: Well, it went pretty well actually... So how was it with your sister visiting? I hear that Ebizo and her are expecting twins...
Jiraiya: Yeah they sure are... And not only that, but Sasuke's son, Mu, has just married Killerbee's daughter Saria as well.
Hiruzen: Really now... Two Kages marrying... Don't think that's ever happened before...
Kakashi: You're most definitely right about that, haha.
Minato: Aren't they like ten years apart or something??
Jiraiya: Not far from it now, but I guess love can't be judged based on number...
Aiko: Hey wait a moment... If the two Kages of Iwa and Kumo are married, how will that work out? I mean-...
Ami: Excellent question sis! It's not like they can move together, is it?
Jiraiya: I... I don't really know actually... Maybe one of them will step down, maybe they'll have a long distant relationship, or maybe they'll find a way to work things out I suppose.
Kakashi: ...
Hiruzen: Hey guess what, it's only a month left to your birthday now Minato, and Gai, Lee and I have planned something big for you!
Minato: Oh?? Really?!
Looking over at his father, Minato seemed as if expecting him to follow up on Hiruzen's surprise, as Jiraiya mistook his intent and accidentally slipped something that seemed as if secret, but that wasn't really existing to begin with.
Jiraiya: Ehm... Kakashi, Yamato and I have something even bigger planned!
Kakashi: ??
Confused at this statement, Kakashi looked at Jiraiya as he soon realized that he had to play the act.
Kakashi: Ehm, yeah... Something very big!
Minato: Oh?!?! Yosh, can't wait!!
Hiruzen: Really...
As the six of them were talking to each other, enjoying the hot day at the training field, someone suddenly arrived, as it turned out to be Yamato, accompanied by three other Konoha Shinobi.
Kakashi: So you're back...
Yamato: *Pant* That was indeed a close one! Your sons are really starting to become more and more like you, Kakashi-Sempai... And not to forget about Gai's son as well...
Kakashi: Yeah, but I would say that my two sons, Sakumo and Gai, are more like their mother, Yugao-...
Sakumo: I'm here!
Gai [The 2nd]: I'm too... Oh, you're here too dad?
Kakashi: Yeah...
Kakashi [The 2nd]: Hey, don't forget about me!
Yamato: And here comes Gai's son, Kakashi...
Ami: Wait just a minute, I didn't know Kakashi and Gai named their sons after each other?!
Aiko: That is so confusing, and weird!
Hiruzen: Mind your tongues young ladies!
Kakashi: Haha, that is fine, I guess it's a bit confusing when we're referring to each other.
Minato: So you're named Gai, and he's named Kakashi... Just the same as Kakashi-Sensei and Gai-Sensei?? Alright, think I'll be able to adjust to that.
Jiraiya: So, how did it go Yamato??
Yamato: Well...
Reaching for a old and dusty looking paper-scroll in his backpack and handing it over to him, Jiraiya began to study the first lines of the text, as Yamato continued.
Yamato: The meeting with Naruto went fine... I think it's the first time I've visited Mt. Myo, and it sure took a long time to get there the hard way...
Minato: The hard way??
Jiraiya: Hmm... I see, I see...
Still studying the content of the scroll, Jiraiya was too busy to pay attention to the conversation.
Kakashi: The easy way is to make a contract and get summoned over there... The hard way, is that you actually have to travel there by foot...
Minato: Oh...
Yamato: And Naruto really had some interesting things to say, as shown in that scroll.
Jiraiya: I see...
Yamato: But that's not all, come, let's head to the Hokage office to lay the details out on the table.
Jiraiya: Alright then.
Wrapping the scroll up again, Jiraiya quickly agreed as all of them headed back to the village.
[...]
*Later that day*
Back at the Hokage office, Jiraiya had seated himself in his Hokage-Chair, as he was accompanied by his advisers, Hiruzen and Mito. Together with them were Yamato, Kakashi, Gai, Konohamaru and Minato, as Yamato continued on his report.
Jiraiya: I see... So this means that my father will remain at Mt. Myo for now then...
Gai: Hmm... Well that sure is something, right Kakashi?
Kakashi: I suppose...
Minato: And we just came home from our jorney a year ago... Oh well, a man's got to do what a man's got to do.
Konohamaru: Well then, I guess that's it?
Yamato: No, there's more to it... Naruto has... gone through the first step of some sort of ritual...
Jiraiya: Ritual?
Yamato: The Great Toad Sage of Mt. Myo has once again looked into the future, and in it, he sees his successor as the-...
Jiraiya: Successor?! What does that mean?
Hiruzen: Don't get hasty, let him finish.
Mito: Is he?...
Yamato: If Naruto completes the final stage of his training, he will become...
Jiraiya: ??
Yamato: The new Great Toad Sage of Mt. Myo...
Kakashi: ?!
Gai: !!
Konohamaru: What does that mean?!
Yamato: It means that when the third new Sage has come to be, and Naruto's legacy is finally ready, he will have to make two choices...
Konohamaru: Two choices?! I thought the Great Toad Sage said that he would have to make a choice of life and death, but not that he had to make another one as well?
Yamato: The other one will decide whether or not Naruto will fulfill his destiny and be able to make that final choice of life and death...
Mito: I... I can't even begin to grasp this...
Hiruzen: If Mito can't even grasp this with her high intelligence, I'm definitely lost...
Yamato: When the time has come, Naruto himself will summon the three next Sages, and he will then elaborate on this... That's all that he said.
Jiraiya: Hmm...
Konohamaru: But we don't even know who the last Sage is yet?!
Yamato: Naruto said that we know... And that we won't have to look too far to find him.
As he said, Yamato turned around as he faced towards Minato, who looked perplexed back at him.
Minato: What are you looking at me for??
Jiraiya: Minato huh...
Konohamaru: Of course! The Great Toad Sage said all those years ago that the final Sage would be one of both Uzumaki and Uchiha blood... Who else can it be?
Minato: I don't understand anything of this...
Apparently quite confused over this, Minato shook his head.
Jiraiya: Well then, we should begin your training soon my son.
Minato: Training??
[...]
*7 Years and One Month Later*
Jiraiya: *Pant* Are you ready son?! This is it!
Minato: *Pant, Pant* As ready as I can get!
Jiraiya: Then show me you have what it takes to become Hokage!
Minato: Yosh!!!
At the training field of Konoha, Jiraiya and Minato stood as a small audience was watching them. Both being exhausted from a long battle and both having their Sage Mode activated, Jiraiya fired up a RasenShuriken as Minato did the same.
Jiraiya: Now throw!
Minato: Roger!!
Aiko: You can do it Minato, I believe in you!
Minato: Heh, don't worry Aiko!
Sending the RasenShuriken flying off at immense speed, Jiraiya put all his might and strength in it as the fierce weapon of mass destruction headed straight for his own son.
Jiraiya (In thoughts): You can do it!
Minato: Go!!!
As the RasenShuriken got closer to him, Minato's own RasenShuriken left his hand as well as it went flying towards his dad's. The two crashed in the middle of the field, creating a massive blast, as the audience had to cover their eyes. As the blast had settled down, and the smoke was about to clear, Jiraiya, laying on the ground with his face down towards it, turned around as he looked straight up at Minato, who was standing right above him with a kunai pointing at him.
Jiraiya: ?!
Minato: Gehehe, I win...
Jiraiya: ...Well done son.
Konohamaru: Oh, you lost Jiraiya??
Jiraiya: Yes... To a more worthy adversary nonetheless.
Minato: Haha, are you up next perhaps Konohamaru-Sempai??
Konohamaru: Haha, at my age, I wouldn't stand a chance.
Helping his father back up on his feet, Minato had a wide grind on his face as Jiraiya grabbed his right hand and reached it into the air.
Jiraiya: The winner of this match, Uzumaki-Uchiha Minato!
As he said, Aiko came running towards Minato, as she threw herself into his arms, kissing him passionately and with great intent.
Jiraiya: From this day forward, you can call yourself... The 8th Hokage son, happy birthday.
Aiko: I'm so proud of you Minato, congratulation, you finally bested your dad!
Minato: Thanks dad! And thanks Aiko.
Replying to her by giving her another kiss, Minato swung her around in the air before placing her back on the ground as Jiraiya wrapped his Hokage robe around Minato's shoulders. Walking over to the few audience left, Jiraiya got a remark from his old friend and adviser throughout the past eleven years.
Hiruzen: So, your son was finally able to beat you huh...
Mito: Welcome to the club, haha, Aiko and Ami has already surpassed us as well.
Jiraiya: Hehe, the new generation is indeed promising.
Hiruzen: Speak for yourself, my daughters still need to best me, haha!
Jiraiya: Heh, you always were a stubborn one Hiruzen, much like your old father Lee... While Mito was always wise like her father, Shikamaru.
Mito: And you were always bold like yours, haha. Come, let's head back to the village.
Konohamaru: Well, I guess this only means one thing, doesn't it?
Jiraiya: Yeah, what's that??
Konohamaru: Naruto's legacy is finally ready.
Minato: Aiko, you shouldn't be moving around too much you know, it's still only been a month since-...
Aiko: Hush... Don't worry, the kids are fine... In fact, my sister Ami is watching over them right now.
Minato: Well then, let's head back with the rest, shall we?
Aiko: I suppose you're right.
As she was just about to turn around and start walking, Jiraiya grabbed her and lifted her up in the air.
Minato: Well then, no way you're walking home, I'll carry you!
Aiko: Minato...
Aiko, much like her twin sister, was a real beauty for sure. With her long blond hair and blue eyes, she looked pretty much like her mother back in her younger days. As they too followed the rest, everything was set to be a birthday of grand dimensions, as Minato couldn't have asked for a better present at his 18th Birthday. As they arrived home, Aiko's sister, Ami, greeted them.
Ami: Ah, you're back... How did it go Minato?
Minato: I won, gehehe.
Ami: Really?! Does that mean?!
Aiko: It sure does!
Ami: Well congratulation then!
Minato: Hehe, thanks Ami.
Aiko: So how's the kids?
Ami: The newborns are sleeping tight, no worries, although Sasuke seemed to be a bit relentless at first...
Aiko: Oh? Even more relentless than Sakura?
Ami: Haha, yeah, guess she just misses her mom.
Minato: Well, at least Naruto is sleeping fine then?
Ami: He sure is... Anyways, I need to take off... See you two later today then?
Minato: Yep, see ya, and thanks for watching the kids.
Ami: Anytime.
As she left the house, Minato and Aiko went over to the cribs at their bedroom where their newborn triplets, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, were sleeping safe and sound.
Aiko: The future holds much promise...
Minato: It sure does... Well, I should get ready then.
Aiko: You should...
As Minato was just about to turn towards the bathroom to start preparing himself for the Hokage ceremony, Aiko halted his advance as she had one more thing to add before he did.
Aiko: Minato...
Minato: Yeah?
Aiko: I love you.
Minato: I love you too Aiko.
[...]
*Later that Day*
Jiraiya: Neji, Tsunade, could you two come over here for a second?
At the Hokage-Mansion, Jiraiya was going over the final preparations as he was visited by two young twins around the age of seven, sharing the name of two renown Konoha Shinobi of the past.
Neji: Sure thing Uncle?
Jiraiya: I want you to find your mother Kushina for me, as I have something I want to talk to her about.
Tsunade: Right away! Neji, let's go!
Sending the two on an errand to get their mother Kushina, Jiraiya's own sister, Jiraiya then sat back in the chair as Mito and Hiruzen came inside.
Mito: Are you enjoying the chair, one last time, Jiraiya?
Hiruzen: Haha, I think that Jiraiya deep down inside was hoping that his son wasn't able to beat him just yet, as he would probably want to stay Hokage for a couple of more years... But, a promise is a promise I suppose.
Jiraiya: Yeah well, you two will still remain as advisers, but me on the other hand, I'm ready for a new challenge.
As day turned to evening, Minato was selected as the 8th Hokage, as his father Jiraiya, just like his father Naruto before him, stepped down as to let the next generation shine. Both proud of his son, but at the same time a bit jealous that he managed to grasp Sage techniques at such a young age, while he himself had to train for several years before he did, Jiraiya looked at him as he finally gave him the Hokage-hat, to complete his attire. The citizens below broke out in celebration as the silhouette of a man, standing on top of the monumental stone head of the 6th Hokage, was seen briefly in the background, before it suddenly vanished in the thin air again.
[...]
*One Month Later*
Konohamaru: Phew, another trip to Mt. Myobokuzan completed...
Jiraiya: Why, weren't we suppose to make it you mean, haha.
Minato: So... The time has come then, just like the Great Toad Sage predicted, all those years ago...
Arriving at Mt. Myo, as instructed by Naruto himself, the period of the Three Great Toad Sages were nearly upon us. Walking over to the temple of the Great Toad Sage himself, the three of them appeard before him as Naruto was seated on a similar chair as the Old Toad himself, which was much smaller in size of course, right beside him on his right. Fukasaku and Shima were there as well, together with a bunch of other toads, that were personal summons of Konohamaru, Jiraiya and Minato.
Konohamaru: Honorably Great Toad Sage and Naruto-San, we've come before you as requested.
Naruto: ...
Great Toad Sage: Yes... We have much to discuss indeed.
As the three of them had kneeled down before them with their right knees angled up from the ground, and their right arms resting upon them, Konohamaru, Jiraiya and Minato had bowed their heads in respect, as if a ceremony of great honor and importance was about to commence. All of the other toads were gathered on their right and their left, as Shima stood by Naruto's side, while Fukasaku stood by the Great Toad Sage's side.
Great Toad Sage: The era of the Three Great Toad Sages are upon us... Uzumaki Naruto, your legacy is now ready, and the trio is now complete.
Naruto: Good...
Minato: ...
Great Toad Sage: Sarutobi Konohamaru, Uzumaki Jiraiya and Uzumaki-Uchiha Minato... You three will be the Bringers of Peace and Stability, the Guardians of Hope, Fate, Fortune and Destiny... Until time deems it necessary for the next generation to take over, you will be the first Trio of Light and Benevolence...
Naruto: Konohamaru-San... As the oldest, and the first of the three to become a Sage, you, will be the leader... Being the Konoha Anbu Leader for the past 40 years, you should have a lot of experience in Leadership.
Konohamaru: Your will is my command.
Enfolding his hands together in front of himself, Konohamaru gave off a nod of respect.
Naruto: Jiraiya, my son... You, will be second in command, and my personal link between Mt. Myo and Konoha from now on.
Jiraiya: Right father, as you wish.
Minato: Link? What does that mean?
Obviously confused on Naruto's chose of words, Minato began questioning what that really meant, as he quickly got a reply without much of an answer in it.
Fukasaku: Everything in its right time son, just wait and see.
Naruto: And Minato, my grandson... As the current Hokage of Konoha, young in age, vast in battle experience...
Minato: Yes?...
Naruto: With Konohamaru taking charge as the leader, Jiraiya dealing with tactical approach, you will bring the muscle-power with your speed, power and agility... You will be face of this Trio...
Minato: Hmm... Alright then.
Konohamaru: So what happens now?
Jiraiya: And father, why aren't you, as the first of us to become a Sage and quite possibly the one most adapt in Senjutsu, part of our group? What will your role be?
Shima: As Fukasaku said earlier, everything in time, don't grow impatient.
Minato: ...
Naruto: Well... With the world at temporary peace, witnessing more stability and prosper than ever before... I have other things to attend to... To finish my training, and to emerge into the role, that I was destined too.
Konohamaru: Seven years ago, when Yamato-San lead a group here to visit you and gather information, he came back with a Scroll detailing countless observations and guidance... He talked about two choices, and when the time was right, those two choices would be revealed.
Naruto: Yes... Now with the era of you three upon us, I will eventually meet the one who has the Key to true, eternal peace... The answers to everything, the Wizard of Ancient Time... He will give me a choice... That is all that is known for now... But, to be ready to make this choice, I will have to make another...
Jiraiya: ...
Naruto: I can't remain in this...
Minato: Yeah?
Naruto: Human Form...
Jiraiya: ?! What?! What do you mean?!
Konohamaru: !!
Minato: I... What?!
Great Toad Sage: The training Naruto-San is about to commence... Is training to become the new... Honorably Geezer of Mt. Myo.
Minato: ...
Great Toad Sage: When the Sage of Six Path became complete, and his training was fulfilled... He became One with Nature... This granted him temporary immortality, but, at the cost of his humanity.
Konohamaru: What does this mean exactly?
Great Toad Sage: Knowing that the human world would never be able to evolve properly with him around, he gave up that immortality and passed it on to me, his personal summon... He then divided the Jubi's chakra in nine parts, sent his body out of this world, creating the moon, and trusted his legacy to his two sons. For over thousand years, I've been the Keeper of this place, its Guardian... But now, my time is coming to an end.
Jiraiya: To an end, what do you mean?!
Fukasaku: He means that he has to start looking for his successor... The incredible life-force of the Jubi, together with all the paths combined, the user gains access to powers beyond human capability... And to be able to restrain and control these powers for a greater period of time, one will have to give up on their humanity, their human form...
Shima: That's why, in theory, Naruto, if and by completing his training... He will never be able to leave this place again...
Konohamaru: So that's why your Legacy had to be prepared, because someone needs to watch over the outside world, beyond Mt Myo's border...
Jiraiya: Wait, dad you can't be serious about this?!
Naruto: ...
Minato: My dad is right, you just can't grandfather!
Naruto: I have to do this, as my destiny has foretold... By finishing my final training, gaining the Jubi's full cooperation and gaining full control over my new powers, thus, becoming one with nature, I will access the final stage...
Konohamaru: Naruto is right... As much as I hate to admit this. If the Great Toad Sage's time is coming to an end, someone will have to take his place... To take his role as Guardian.
Naruto: This will be the best way to keep the Jubi in check, preventing future wars from breaking out because of its powers... You can call me when you need me, in time of instability and chaos, but I will have to remain here on Mt. Myo indefinitely.
Jiraiya: Dad... You will still be you after this right? I mean, by losing your humanity... you won't, die in a sense?
Naruto: No... I will remain the same, but with age and experience, my mind might adapt.
Minato: Meaning?
Naruto: I might not come off as a human anymore.
Konohamaru: ...
Great Toad Sage: That should be all for now... Naruto-San, we have much to do and time is of the essence.
Naruto: Right.
As he said, the three of them rose to their feet again as they all bowed in respect, one last time.
Jiraiya: I'll make sure to come visit you as often as I can dad.
Minato: Yeah me too, don't worry.
Hearing this, a smile formed on Naruto's face as a tear began to roll down his chin.
Naruto: Jiraiya... Make sure you tell your mother that I'm sorry.
Jiraiya: I will dad, and I'm sure she will understand.
Naruto: Even apart, my heart will always belong to her.
Jiraiya: Even if I have to walk her the long way to Mt. Myo, I will make sure she comes by.
Naruto: Hehe, thanks. And Jiraiya, don't forget to always care for your sister. Even with her in Suna, she always looked up to her older brother.
Jiraiya: You can count on me dad.
Konohamaru: Well then, I guess we should get going.
Jiraiya: Right.
Minato: Take care then granddad.
Naruto: Minato... I believe you will become the best Hokage to ever have lived in Konoha.
Minato: Hehe, we shall see indeed.
Naruto: Jiraiya, Minato... I love you both.
Jiraiya: And I love you too dad.
Minato: See ya, we will definitely come visit.
As the meeting came to an end, Konohamaru, with the help of Shima and Fukasaku, drew a black circle on the ground, as Jiraiya, Minato and himself stepped into it. Minato and Konohamaru then placed their hands on each of Jiraiya's shoulders, and as he preformed some quick hand-signs, the three of them were gone.
Fukasaku: The Flying Thunder God...
Shima: The next Generation sure has much promise.
Great Toad Sage: Well then, Uzumaki Naruto, are you ready to begin the final stage of your training?
Naruto: Yes, yes I am.
Standing up to his feet, the Great Toad Sage, together with Naruto, Fukasaku and Shima, went to leave the temple to continue Naruto's training. Back in Konoha, Konohamaru, Jiraiya and Minato arrived at the Hokage-Mansion, as the three of them were teary in their eyes.
Minato: Even if it's the right thing to do, I still feel like we could have gone about this differently, I mean...
Jiraiya: Yeah, well...
Konohamaru: At least, Naruto will be fulfilling his destiny as the Savior of this World... For now, we should spread the word to those closest to him.
Taking their leave, the three of them proceeded out the door.
[...]
*13 Years Later*
Seated in his chair on Mt. Myo, the Great Toad Sage had gathered almost all of the toads that were living there, as everyone who didn't fit inside the temple due to space and size, were standing on the outside, watching through different cracks in the old temple.
Great Toad Sage: With this, your training is now completed, Uzumaki Naruto... From this day forward, you will not age, and therefore, you will not die... Taking the role as my successor, and with your Legacy prospering, the choice you will have to make, will soon be upon you. This will be my final blessing, and also, my final goodbye. My friends, my family, farewell...
As he said, the Great Toad Sage fell in his final sleep, as the Toads gathered around began to cry. Knowing now that, at the age of 72, he could finally look to the future, he was ever closing on his goal of true, ever lasting peace.
Naruto: Goodbye Old Geezer, until we meet again.
As the Great Toad Sage passed away, Naruto knew he was at a turning point, and as he began reminiscing the past, countless old memories of the previous war and his encounter with his father, mother, sensei, as well as the previous Hokages and the Sage of Six Paths, came to mind.
*Flashback Begins*
'Kushina: We all believe in you Naruto, and no matter what happens-...
Minato: ...You will always be our son.
Jiraiya: Ehehehe, they're right, you hold the key to peace in your heart Naruto...
Hashirama: We entrust our will to you as well, to find the key... The Will of Fire is strong in you, perhaps the strongest I've ever seen.
Tobirama: He's right... You're the only Hokage left alive after all, and the only one among us who can still find the key to true peace. From what I can tell, you might even rival my brother with your current skills. Though one can never get too much knowledge, and you're still young and got much to learn... When and if you get to the same age as Hiruzen, maybe you can look back at the history of Konoha, and tell your legacy who was the greatest of them all.
Hiruzen: We all believe in you!
Tobirama: Heh, well done kid... You truly are an amazing Hokage after all...
Hashirama: Well done, until we meet again in the afterlife...
Naruto: Don't worry, I'll find away to set free your souls for good. I have a feeling we will meet again, Shodaime Hokage!
Madara: Not bad... Make sure you actually find the key to peace, kid... Only Hashirama had been able to best me in battle twice...
Naruto: I will.
Hiruzen: Never give up, always trust your instincts.
Jiraiya: Gehehehe, you have surpassed me by miles Naruto. Until we meet again!
Kushina: Naruto, my son... My lovely son... If we only had more time in life together.
Naruto: I-... *Sniff* Will make you all proud, I promise you from the bottom of my heart!
Minato: It's all over now son... I'm so proud of you. I believe you will become the greatest Hokage to ever live in Konoha! Until we meet again.
"I truly believe that you are my successor, the one destined to fulfill the task I left behind... I believe in you, Uzumaki Naruto, and I know that you will find the key to peace eventually... Never stray from your path, never give up, never pursue foolish ambitions, and always follow your heart..."
Naruto: I will, you can count on me Old-Man-Sennin!
"Hehe, it seems that something good came out of this after all. I'm glad we got this opportunity kid... When we meet again, I'm sure you'll be one step closer to achieving that goal, that dream, the dream left by your Sensei, Jiraiya..."
Naruto: ...
"It was an honor to meet you kid-..."
Naruto: The honor is mine, hehehe *Smirk.*
"*Smirk* Well then..."
Naruto: Damn, I'm not good at parting words...
"Always keep in mind that true courage is about knowing not when to take a life, but when to spare one... I'm sure we will meet again someday kid... I just know it... Until then!!"'
*Flashback Ends*
With a smile on his face, Naruto looked towards the future.
[...]
Out on a diplomatic journey, Konohamaru, Minato and Jiraiya were escorted by a few Konoha shinobi as they had stopped by a village with a vast farmland. Spreading their teachings, and promise of a great future of peace ahead, one of the older farmers came over to them, as he earnestly looked at Minato and Jiraiya before he finally gathered himself and spoke his mind.
Old Farmer: There is... Something oddly familiar with you two... Young lad, you surely can't be the 6th Hokage, right?
Minato: Haha, I'm afraid not, I'm Minato, the 8th Hokage actually, but people do say that I look very much like my grandfather.
Old Farmer: I see... Then you must be Jiraiya, the 7th Hokage, right?
Jiraiya: That is indeed correct sir.
As the old man stumbled upon this for a moment, a little girl came running towards them.
Little Girl: Grandpa, grandpa!
Old Farmer: Oh, hey there...
Picking her up his arms the little girl then looked at the diplomatic envoy from Konoha as she asked Jiraiya and Minato straight out what she had on her heart.
Little Girl: Oh, you two look familiar, are you related to the Savior, Uzumaki Naruto?
Jiraiya: That's right I suppose.
Little Girl: *Giggle* As I expected. May I ask how you're related to him??
With a smile on his face and with a big grit, Minato replied in an enthusiastic tone.
Minato: We... Are The Legacy of THE LEGENDARY SAGE OF KONOHA!!

The Legendary Sage of Konoha Returns, Chapter 30;
The End of an Era:
