The Legend of Korra: Was it just me, or was the bending lackluster?

So today I was feeling lazy so I watched the entirity of Legend of Korra. Overall, I thought it was okay. I feel like this particular plot needed far more than 12 episodes, as I feel that they just didn't do the characters justice the way that this turned out. But that's far beside the point of this thread.

One of my favorite parts of The Last Airbender was simply the bending. In book 4, whenever I saw Aang, Toft, Zuko, or Katara bend, I usually thought it was pretty damn epic. With Legend of Korra, I thought it was really just kind of shitty. In the pro bending matches, literally all they were allowed to do was shoot a small amount of their element at someone. And in the 'serious' fights, the bending just looked really weak compared to the bending from LAB.

Anyone else share this opinion?

Yeah, either the directors tuned down the power scaling, or they're trying to hint that the previous generation was stronger? Not sure, maybe it'll get better next season.

I agree COMPLETELY! Even the metal bending, which was a HUGE deal in LAB, was just them shooting hooks at each other. The fire bending was lackluster at best, the earth bending was pitiful and water benders couldn't use ice/attack for more than a brief second? The bending was a joke.

It's been 12 episodes guys. If korra split the earth's core with earth bending the first day what the **** is the point of showing the rest of the show? Just wait. Stop being impatient.

I agree with this guy...overall I thought it was good. The blood bending was dope and I thought the chi blocking was awsome. All the other bending was kind of weak but I am sure it will get better, and I am sure we will see some new characters in the next season. I can't wait.

I sort of agree with this, and I do hope that it's just because it's the first book, and they didn't want to do anything over the top, however, it still doesn't make sense.

Some of these people are supposed to be master benders. As of now, it looks like Korra has learned four elements, but mastered none. Hopefully it gets better though. It'd be a pretty big disappointment to me if bending turned into, "let's shoot elemental blobs at eachother over and over" for the rest of LOK. :/

Inch, glad to have you back, bro.

However, I assume that you have watched Avatar and the last Airbender book one and two? In those two seasons, the bending of everyone was lame and not the same as book: Fire, watch the difference of Zuko fighting Iroh (Season one) and Zuko VS. Azula (Final battle) as example, the battle there was more intense and also... allot of fire.

Which means that in the second upcoming season, there, the bending will be much intenser.
