General Zod will be the Main villain. And yes, Jor-El would be returning.

Smallville; though a good adaptation; is 10 Season long. No way a movie can present so much footage in around 2 hours. You need to be realistic. It's much harder to make a movie rather than a TV series.

And Henry Cavill isn't going to look like that the whole movie. The movie also will not be like how Superman come on this planet, learn his powers and then kicks some villain's ass for half-the-movie.

Nolan, Goyer and Snyder are going to present Superman as a real character. Knowing Nolan, he's probably gonna go deep into Clark Kent's psychology and past-life; just like how he did with Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins. Frankly, I like that perspective very much and completely support it.

Instead of re-doing another disaster movie like Superman Returns or present lackluster superheroes avatars like recent Ghost Rider, Green Lantern, Hellboy, Thor ect...Superman deserves to be a character that we can relate into. Till now, few superheroes succeed in making their avatars good enough to be convincing and a little cult. Hopefully, Superman can enter that league. League which I repeat he deserves to be since he's amongst the Greatest Superheroes in Comics History.

Btw, movies are going to be made on Flash, Wonder Woman, Silver-Surfer and Ant-man soon.

Ya your right:izuna: like i said i am viewing this superman as the first 1:rolleyes: so lets just wait and see how it goes

:T_T: Why Bane?
They should have done the Riddler and had Johnny Depp to play him.
Oh well, I will only see this movie if friends say it's awesome.
Nolan had a number of Batman villains in his Batman movies - Joker, Ra's-Al Ghul, Scarecrow & Two-Face along with minor villains.

Now, there's a long (very long) list of villains which could have made it to this 3rd movie. I think these were the most prominent IMO.

- Catwoman
- Riddler
- Poison Ivy
- Bane
- Red Hood
- Harley Quinn
- Talia Al Ghul

Let me explain it now.

Catwoman seems perfect for this last part. She's amongst Batman's most famous antagonist and is among the most famous female comics characters.

Riddler and Poison Ivy seemed like great choice for villains. But there are factors that didn't motivated Nolan.

1. Riddler and Poison Ivy were ridicule in previous Batman Movies despite portrayed by high-caliber actors. (Though I know the same actors could won Oscars if Nolan directed it but let's not go there :p) In short, they are a bit fresh in minds.

2. Both would need to have been played by high-profile stars and I think it wouldn't have gave the opportunity to younger talents to expres themselves. Let's face it, Nolan gave Tom Hardy possibly a role of a lifetime with Dark Knight Rises.

3. Riddler would have been compared to Heath Ledger's Joker's performance. Though I also would love to see Johnny Depp play Riddler.

Bane counters the factors above for Poison Ivy and Riddler and possibly that's why he was chosen. He was presented as a henchman in other movie, he wasn't a developed character in movies, thus he is pretty fresh and will give lots of place for sketching his character.

Red Hood would have somewhat be destined and fitting for Ending a Batman's franchise but Robin never made any kind of appearance in previous Nolan's movies. Neither did Nightwing. Plus Joker is integral in the development of his character.

Same case as above. Joker is not here and hence, Herley Quinn's character cannot really be developed. I think there was place to make it a 5-movie franchise if only Heath Ledger didn't die.

Talia will make a small appearance along with Ra-Al-Ghul from what I've heard. I guess, 3 villains will be a little too much for our Batman. So, better be content with it and cross our fingers that Nolan ends the franchise with a masterstroke.

Makes sense I suppose, though I'm not enthused on who is playing Catwoman either. So the whole movie just seems less appealing to me. Though I agree, let's hope that this movie comes out well!

I won't argue about Anne Hathaway playing Catwoman either but who knows, she might shock us. There weren't really any completely dull characters in neither Batman Begins nor the Dark Knight. Considering Joker is no more, Catwoman (the character) really seems like the best choice for villain in the last movie. Even if Bane will get more footage.

Actually Catwoman really isn't an antagonist towards Batman. She's more of an anti-hero if anything.

Yes, Catwoman hasn't been a traditional "villain" in the comic and at times, was a complex ally of Batman. However, Selina Kyle was initially introduced as an antagonist. Catwoman could either work as a villain, an ally, or both. Thus, that do make her some kind of perfect anti-heroine for Batman

I find her fitting the bill in The Dark Knight Rises very well. First female villain in the Nolan's verse, sexy while Bruce is single again , it's a leather costume on a lady ;) and yes, given the complexity of her character, Nolan could present multifaceted layers in her characters.

I'm just praying the rumor of Liam Neeson being in the film in some form is true. Obviosly, Ra's Al Ghul will be. I love how one of my favorite actors plays one of my favorite villains.

I was eh about Catwoman when I heard she was in because I'm a major Talia fan, but two things made me happy. It's catwoman and makes perfect sense, and Talia might just be in it based on rumors. I was really displeased about Anne Hathaway. I love her, but as Catwoman it's wow, you know? But I kept thinking it's nolan, he knows what he's doing. Needless to say, I'm sure she'll do a fine job, but she won't beat Grey DeLisle as Catwoman in Arkham City. Her voice (in whatever voice role she does) just soothes my soul.

And Bane....I've been pumped ever since he was announced. He needs justice. Now, I really wanted a Jude Law Riddler, but again, Riddler and Joker are a little similar, and Batman needs another fight. Plus, Bane isn't an idiot. He's extremely smart. So, works out beautiful.

I'm curious as to what Flash they'll do. I love both Barry and Wally, but I hope they do Barry, but I'm thinking they'll do Wally, since he's more known. I really hope Wally is saved as Kid Flash for/if they ever do a Teen Titans. I'd introduce D/ck Grayson in the Titans by the way and have a one-shot Knightwing film after that (or after a Teen Titans trilogy/two parter) , so that'd would already implent him in Batman's world/audience, so then bam, just have a Batman film with Tim Drake Robin. Inbetween the Knightwing one shot and Tim Drake Robin film, just have a one-shot Jason Todd/Red Hood. It's not that hard to put a Robin in the Batman world if you really think about it. The kids/teens would get D'ck in the titans, aswell as teens/adults/everyone in the badass Knightwing. Same applies to Jason Todd. Then, tell the infamous Batman-Robin duo story with Tim Drake. Hope that made sense xd It sounds alot better in my head.

Anyways, Wonder Woman film is also what I'm dying for. Wonder woman is just awesome in general.

I believe 100% there'd be a Harley Quinn in this Nolan series if Ledger didn't die. I also think we'd have a Black Mask/Hush in the films as a Scarecrow type-side villain. I hope we have another villain cameo. I love Scarecrow, but I want someone new.

Think it'll be an ending much like Inception, where you decide your own ending pretty much. Catwoman will be kicking ass i hope, and i hope not Bane will be the only villain, but adding Riddler would be a fail pretty much imo, though the movie(s) could need some comedic relief also.

Riddler isn't comedy at all. He's a mindfuck Arkham City/Asylum does him justice, unlikes that godawful Carry film. Jim is awesome, but that potrayal (Portrayal is my opinion, but the film is the majorities xd) and film wasn't.

By the way isn't in this film. In TDKR, it's just Bane and Catwoman.
lets hope its a really good movie to give batman a last time before he's gone
Yeah, I agree. The end of an awesome Bat-era.

Yep, Catwoman and bane - with as per rumors, special appearances from Scarecrow, Talia Al Ghul and Ra's Al Ghul..

As you said, regardless of no Heath Ledger, it's a pretty awesome end to Nolan's Bat-Era on paper.

To all the people wondering "Why Bane?" or "Bane isn't even a popular villain", I have this to say to you.

(don't open the spoilers if you don't want the possible ending of the movie ruined for you. Seriously, don't)

Bane broke practically every noteworthy criminal out of Arkham Asylum in an attempt to weaken Batman emotionally and physically. After Bane did that he, being a genius as well, deduced Batman's real identity and ambushed him in his house/bat cave. He then breaks Batman's spine. So I think he is the perfect choice to end this series on.

The spine breaking moment better be in the filmn. Based on the trailers, it appears to be.

Scarecrow cameo xd

Hopefully they will be!

I just don't get why people don't see Bane as a cool villain. Wait a minute, yes I do, that Schumacher movie Batman & Robin. That was the worst Bane ever.
Yup, that would be why lol

I remember when I first saw that movie I thought Bane was nothing special. I didn't find that Bane is actually a criminal mastermind and super genius until a long time after that

Finally I've found someone else who is dying for a Wonder Woman film.
It's so said that she is so underrated and unrepresented. She's part of DC's "Big Three" (the others being Bats and Supes) and she barely gets any material on her own. I'm even surprised that they gave her a voice on Young Justice, though she hasn't spoke that much since that episode.

But if they do a Wonder Woman movie right, they better do her justice. If Megan Fox plays WW I've lost all faith in humanity.

How the hell can Ra's Al Ghul turn into Bane..:| Plus, Liam Neeson and Tom Hardy don't really look as lookalikes.

Liam Neeson's small re-appearance is as Ra's Al Ghul. That's why Talia Al Ghul is also rumored to make an appearance.

I'm elated that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard are also in the movie :D It kinda felt necessary for the Last Act of a Nolan's franchise xd If only Heath Ledger could have been resurrected to make it complete U_U

Btw, Catwoman seems more to be an ally to Batman here. I was hoping that she'd start mostly as an antagonist first. Let's see what Nolan prepares.

And it seems that Bane will indeed break Batman's spinal cord and back. Can't wait to see that :D Come faster, 20th July!!!
