Sasuke vs Itachi fight. Sasuke explains how Kirin works. He uses his own chakra as bait to call down and direct actual lighting after setting the stage (shooting his fireballs into the clouds to produce a thunderstorm)

Kirin is actual lightning and not lightning produced from his own chakra. That's why it did so much damage to Itachi even though he still managed to activate his Susanoo before he took the full force of the hit.

Lightening should be weak against wind if I remember correctly. So if Naruto actually hit kirin with FRS, it would make a bit sense if it cancelled it out.

But lightening is so fast, Naruto shouldn't even be able to react. Lol. Filler is sooo stupid.

Yep, Wind chakra that is strong enough can cancel out lightning, which is how Naruto basically tanked Kirin
