Nope, it was simply because her power wasn't strong enough to destroy her target. And what exactly was her target ? A machine that was sending the moon down to earth. So, no, Hamura's chakra has in fact improved both Hinata's power and speed, and given her the ability to fly. It's only that it required more power than just Hinata's own to destroy that weapon. SO yeah, current Hinata is more powerful and faster than Kyuubi-cloaked Hinata thanks to her Rikudo chakra. She'd win this fight given the restrictions.

So she doesn't get any new attacks...?

This is stupid. Although it's likely she does receive a power up, we haven't seen any feats but her managing to somehow cancel out Toneri's chakra absorption and seemingly jump-start Naruto. We don't even know what it does.


Edit: Hmmmmmm. According to the Naruto wikia, (obviously we should take anything it says with a grain of salt) "Hinata inherited a powerful chakra directly from Haruma Ootsutsuki. This is what originally attracted Toneri to her. It's mostly dormant until she meets her ancestor on the moon and gave her the power."

Assuming this is true (might be, they did get some things for Toneri correct before we saw the clips. They said he had TSBs, and we see them), then, at the very least, her gentle fist has been buffed considerably. It might give enhanced physical attributes. However, we'll have to wait for the film to understand how much they'd be increased. It all depends on how much speed Hinata gets. If she has high-tier speed, then she wins. If not, she looses.

If going by the wikia, she gets more powerful chakra, meaning same attacks, more power. Kind of like Sasuke (minus rinnegan abilities).

Fanfiction cencepts really do better than his own ideas most of the time. I could list tons of ways to improve many of the things in this story, especially Hinata, Neji's and Sakura's developments
