He is a tall, slender skeleton....so everyone thinks. Skulduggery wears exquisite suits and covers his face with a scarf and always has his hat on which he also uses to cover part of his skull and has Sunglasses to also conceal his 'skeleton' self.
He usually wears a black suit with a white shirt and purple tie, but sometimes he may want an exquisite day or if it's a special occasion he'll change the cuff links or tie, something like that. Maybe his jacket if he really cares. He also wears a trench coat just in case people notice his very thin build under the shirt as they could probably see the gaps of his rib cage.
Skulduggery actually wears a mask that covers his whole head and neck, he is bald so that he can make the skeleton appearance more real, he covers his face with a highly detailed skull pattern, that also gives the effect his eyes are pitch black and his jaw can actually move to speak, and has never ever shown his real face.
Personality
Skulduggery, despite his bizarre appearance (which he hides while in public with a disguise), is something of a dapper gentleman. He has a polite, old-fashioned way of speech, and a velvety-smooth voice which enraptures Valkyrie when they first meet. As well as a powerful shinobi, more specifically an Elemental, he is particularly enthusiastic about detecting, always searching for clues, much to Valkyrie's and Tanith's chagrin. He is also a flamboyant egotist, vocally exalting his own plans, complimenting himself, and showing off his abilities to Valkyrie, at one point walking on the ocean's surface after falling from a cliff.
Skulduggery is a clever strategist, usually forming the plan the team uses (when they actually have a plan) and sharpening his wit on Valkyrie's, taking pleasure in his own wisecracks. The two partners develop a relationship throughout the books. He reveals that he used to be great at motivational speeches, although he has obviously lost this talent, as his attempt to psyche up the party before they confront the Grotesquery with:
"I want you all to know that we are the first line of defence. In fact, we practically the only line of defence. If we fail, there won't be a whole lot anyone else will be able to do. What I'm trying to say is that failure at this point isn't really the smart move to make. We are not to fail, do I make myself absolutely clear? Failure is bad, it won't help us in the short term and certainly won't do us any favours in the long run, and I think I've lost track of this speech, and I'm not too sure where it's headed. But I know where it started and that's what you've got to keep in mind. Has anyone seen my hat?".

Prologue : Vile
Skulduggery pleasant was raised as a normal young shinobi in Kirigakure, he was trained very well and became a very strong and admirable shinobi. He tackled a lot of hard missions and participated in a Ninja War. Though during this ninja war, skulduggery was captured by a group of enemy ninja, he was taken around the Ninja world with other prisoners; when finally the prisoner wagons got ambushed and he managed to escape. Nearing the end of the Ninja War he and a group of Mist Ninja had to take an important outpost outside of Kushagakure, though to their horror a strong enemy Shinobi called Serpine was there, it was down to the last men. When Skulduggery and Serpine fought a what seemed; endless battle. Finally after all the chaos, Skulduggery was knocked unconscious and Serpine took him. In the depths of Amegakure, just after the war had ended, Skulduggery was prisoner in a deep dark hideout. Serpine has also taken Skuduggery's wife and child hostage to show skulduggery true pain, Serpine Killed them both in cold blood. Skulduggery was broken, Serpine has wounded him and burned his face multiple times, though skulduggery had the lust of revenge and escaped the hideout; not managing to find Serpine.
Skulduggery roamed the Ninja World, his face torn and wrecked. He became Dark, and changed his appearance, wearing an armor that concealed his wounds from the past; becoming a Mass murderer. He destroyed small villages, killed Civilians and powerful Shinobi in the process. The Shinobi nicknamed him "Lord Vile"
Though after being ambushed, Lord Vile fought to his end, when he was defeated and cast off the side of a cliff, everyone thinking that he was dead.
Skulduggery's on the edge of death's self was founded by Shinobi of the Sand Village. They treated him as much as they could; though they managed to heal him, they could not fix his face, and because skulduggery went without eating when as lord vile, he was extremely thin. He woke up, himself again; though he went through another transformation, creating a highly detailed mask which give him the affect that his head was a skull; his pale skin and extremely thin build also helped that. All of people actually believed he was a skeleton and so gave him nicknames; he also regards himself as a skeleton as he believes he has died already. He became thankful to Suna and joined them as a Shinobi as he believed it was his true home, his own squad being called 'The Dead Men' as they always went on suicide missions, but came out fine. Though Hopeless and Larrikin were killed in some. The Squad Consisted of Skulduggery Pleasant, Ghastly Bespoke, Erskine Ravel, Anton Shudder, Dexter Vex, Corrival Deuce, Saracen Rue, Larrikin, Hopeless. The Leader being Corrival Deuce, it was known that Larrikin was the Joker of the group and always used to wind Anton up, Larrikin decided that it was Anton's birthday when on a mission. Although their targets were passing by, Larrikin insisted he sing Anton a happy birthday song. He then proceeded to hug Anton, which showed Anton not being a hugging person. The hugging lead into an intensely quiet wrestling match between the two. When Larrikin was in a chokehold, he pulled out a very crushed bun that he had been hiding for three days and put a candle in it, saying that it was Anton's cake. It was the only time that they had seen Anton smile while on a mission. Ghastly became good friends with skulduggery and kept in tough even after their squad disbanded.
Skulduggery spent some time in Amegakure, where he learned some new ninjutsu that involved the usage of water and wind, creating rain. Skulduggery enjoyed his time in Amegakure, becoming stronger; yet the weather could have been better.
Chapter 1 : The Skeleton Detective
Eventually Skulduggery met a rather dashing girl called Tanith Low. A Samurai that was very skilled in her field. They both became good friends, Tanith becoming very close with Ghastly. The three started to work together a lot and eventually came across a man called Gordan Edgely, he was more of an intelligence officer, but still came along on adventures with Skulduggery Pleasant and completed a lot of missions successfully together and both became good friends. Though Gordon Edgely was murdered and he left a will, to his family and a bit to skulduggery. Gordon left his House to his niece Stephanie Edgely, who went and visited that house a lot to get away from her parents, when one day a man attacked her in her house, and Skulduggery saved the day. Stephanie was shocked, and even more especially shocked at Skulduggery's appearance which made her faint. Skulduggery caught her, made her a cup of tea and stayed with her until she woke up. There were a lot of questions smashed at Skulduggery when she woke up, and when he had to leave, she threatened to destroy his hat by stamping on it and so he accepted Stephanie as a partner and she went on many adventures with him. Skulduggery trained her in his element specialities; Wind then Fire. Stephanie took on the name of Valkyrie Cain and now uses that a lot more than her actual name, which she normally uses when at home with her parents.

This girl I met called Stephanie Edgely has a lot of potential, she has the blood of the Senju within her, or otherwise known as the 'Ancients'. I will be a naughty little detective and teach her some Ninjutsu and make her my partner, it's been rather boring lately on my own - no one to tell any jokes to you see.
On a couple of missions, Skulduggery has been shown to be quite stubborn and a bit of a joker, whether he means it or not; he always did it to wind up Valkyrie
and then he seems to purposefully compliment himself to wind up Valkyrie again, "Don't be jealous of my Genius". Skulduggery and Valkyrie then came across a cult, an old cult that Skulduggery knew of...consisted of the one that he swore revenge upon, Serpine. They tried to track him down, with Ghastly and Tanith Low they went on various missions to gather information that Serpine was after a weapon called the sceptre of the ancients. They then went looking for the Sceptre before Serpine could and ventured beneath the depths of Gordon's house (The one that he left to Valkyrie in his will) which Serpine had already managed to get into. They fought until the Sceptre was taken by Serpine and he retreated back to wherever his target was. Skulduggery and Valkyrie had to find him before he rained hell over the world with the Sceptre and they did, he had Infiltrated the Kage's Mansion in suna and killed all the Ninja and killed the Kazekage Mockingbird with the almighty sceptre, so Skulduggery and his partner took Serpine by surprise. They eventually captured and secured Serpine and Skulduggery didn't take his revenge, but because Serpine managed to get free and attacked Valkyrie; Skulduggery killed Serpine and the Sceptre lost it's power.
Chapter 2 : Playing with Fire
Skulduggery started to teach Valkyrie what he knew about Ninjutsu, first he taught her Wind the easiest in his opinion and then Fire, she got to grips with Wind but struggled with Fire. She was also being taught by Tanith Low to do Taijutsu. Whilst she was under training an old enemy of the Dead men, Baron Vengeous escaped from prison and formed a little group of villains to bring back a creature called the Grotesquery that had the power to bring back more terrifying creatures called the Faceless Ones so powerful they could take over the world. So the new Kazekage ordered them to stop Baron once again, they first had to find out where he keeping the Grotesquery and had to deal with an old Shinobi named 'The Torment' who knew the location of what they were after but his terms weren't simple. After the terms had come to an agreement they went to find the Grotesquery just outside Konohagakure in a ruined fort, only to find that Vengeous and his band of misfits had gotten there first and had Revived the Grotesquery creature only it wasn't at full strength and needed to wait until it could summon the Faceless Ones; Skulduggery and Valkyrie regrouped back in Suna with Tanith Low, China Sorrows a beautiful woman and intelligence for Skulduggery, Mr. Bliss a strong and powerful man that is referred as the strongest man in the world and some Sand Shinobi along with Konoha Shinobi. They went on an assault at a Fort between Suna and Konoha against Vengeous, his allies and the Grotesquery. Though having had to retreat a couple of times to regroup as they were split off, the castle was like a maze.
"We're not retreating, we're advancing in reverse". This time it was Valkyire that saved the world, using Tanith's Sword to cut down the creature before it could reach it's full power. Some of the Sand Shinobi and Konoha Nin died, Vengeous' men got away but Vengeous had died by the hands of Skulduggery.
Skulduggery returned home after dropping Valkyrie off at hers and was confronted by a man, a man with a mysterious aura about him, he offered Skulduggery a place in his 'Family', from what he heard off the man it seemed promising and agreed to join and help this family, becoming a part of it.

The Mezzanotte Family has a lot of members now, and I'm glad to help such a nice bunch of people, they're a bit strange though. I tried to some jokes on them, but they wouldn't laugh or didn't get it - maybe they were too clever.

Chapter 3 : The Faceless Ones
The Diablerie a group that worships the dreaded faceless ones have returned and are plotting to take the Grotesquery's body remains and use it to bring back the actual faceless ones to terrorize the ninja world. Skulduggery and Valkyrie investigate to find out that Certain shinobi are being killed that know how to use the Grotesquery's body to bring back the faceless ones, only one of these shinobi remain and his name is Fletcher Renn, lets just say he has a hair style problem. Skulduggery saved him from Billy-Ray Sanguine who was working for the Diablerie this time, they took him back to suna to be looked after by Kenspenkle grouse who was later raided by Jaron Gallow, Gruesome Krav and Murder Rose; or for short the Diablerie. The crew escaped, but the enemy had another plan they kidnapped the Kazekage, this gave Skulduggery no choice but to hand over Fletcher Renn in exchange for their Kazekage which took place at a bridge in the Bird Country outside of sunagakure. Skulduggery tried a double-double cross where they would acquire both Renn and the Kazekage, but it didn't work out as the enemy had reinforcements and they acquired Fletcher, taking him to Aranmore Farm with the grotesquery where they prepared to bring back the faceless ones.
Skulduggery, Valkyrie, Tanith, Ghastly go to Aranmore Farm where they are instantly attacked by Murder Rose and Gruesome Krav. They take cover in the farmhouse only to be attacked by about 200 hollow men, though they may be easy kill there numbers made them annoying. Tanith Low is saved by the White cleaver before Murder Rose can kill her and Mr. Bliss, China and some cleavers arrive as reinforcements for Skulduggery. Paddy the farmer is being protected by Valkyrie only to find out later on that he person not capable of moulding chakra, was the leader of the Diablerie and her knocked Valkyrie out. Fletcher was saved by Skulduggery, but it was too late the Faceless ones has been released and the three monsters appeared from the seal. The first faceless one kills Gruesome Krav and another kills Murder Rose, Valkyrie wakes up to find that Mr. Bliss is dead and so is Paddy. Skulduggery runs over to her as the three faceless ones slaughter cleavers and hollow men, China brought with her the sceptre of the ancients which now works again the only weapon possible to kill the Faceless ones. Valkyrie being the only one able to use it kills two of the faceless ones, the sceptre being taken by Jaron Gallow and hidden; the last faceless one gets lured into a trap where Fletcher Renn seals it into it's dimension. Skulduggery is grabbed by the last Faceless one and is dragged into the sealed dimension before Fletcher could stop it, Valkyrie went cold and screamed...
Chapter 4 : Dark Days
It has been Eleven Months since the Battle at Aranmore. Vakyrie, Tanith, Ghastly and Fletcher have all been searching for Skulduggery's 'Skull', which was a special Token that allowed Fletcher to use so that he could open the portal again. Thanks to a man called Caelan, Valkyrie was able to set up a meeting with the trader Thames Chabon who sold them a Fake Token - he was captured by the team and interrogated, telling them that the real Skull is held by Davina Marr, Sunagakure's new Detective.
Meanwhile an old prisoner, Dreylan Scarab is released from Iwagakure's Prison, he forms the 'Revengers' Club' with his son, Billy-Ray Sanguine. They recruit Springheeled Jack, Dusk, Remus Crux and Vaurien Scapegrace. However, Sanguine and Scarab realize that Scapegrace is useless and kill him and revive him using an virus, who had the job of recruiting others to their little club by biting them and spreading the Virus.
After learning that Davina Marr has the skull, Valkyrie and the others form a plan to steal it from her. It goes horribly wrong and they are thrown in a cell, Valkyire manages to escape during the interrogation using powers from her ring on Marr and frees the others. Fletcher and Valkyrie manage to Steal the skull and escape from the Village Hidden in the Sand. Back at Aranmore Farm, Fletcher uses the Skull to reopen the portal which allows Valkyrie to get inside and find Skulduggery, though she doesn't have much time. Skulduggery is hidden in a cave in this new world and Valkyrie manages to find him and convince him that she is not an hallucination, using his newly gained Curse Mark they both escape from the Faceless Ones' dimension in one piece.

I Visited Finbar Wrong with Valkyrie, he took us to another Sensitive called Cassandra Pharos, and interesting Woman. She shows us both a vision she had of the future where this woman called Darquesse Destroys the Ninja World. This Woman also kill's Valkyrie's Parents, she has been affcted by this ever since so I'm keeping an eye on her.
The Revengers’ Club infiltrate Sunagakure and steal the Desolation Engine, an extremely dangerous explosive device. The Kazekage orders the gang to look for the members. Valkyrie and Skulduggery visit the Midnight Hotel, which is run by an old friend of Skulduggery, Anton Shudder. They believe that the Club will steal a Remnant, which is something that can possess people. Sanguine checks in the Hotel as a guest, but because of the Hotel’s rules, Skulduggery cannot arrest him. But Shudder finds out that Sanguine is here to steal a Remnant using the Soul Catcher, giving Sanguine none of the Hotel's Privileges. Sanguine tells the three that there is a horde of mercenaries outside the Hotel, and unless they allow him to take a Remnant, they will die. However, the mercenaries had found out they weren't being paid, and went on a rampage to try and kill anyone in their way, especially Sanguine. The four manage to defeat the Mercs, but still Sanguine manages to take a Remnant.
At the Hiberniain (a safe haven for the gang in Takigakure), Kenspeckle Grouse is kidnapped by the Revengers’ Club. They also manage to kidnap Tanith. The Remnant is freed and possesses Kenspeckle, who fixes the dreaded Desolation Engine, and makes a copy. The Remnant is then given Tanith, which the Remnant could possess. Skulduggery and Valkyrie visit another information broker, Myron Stray, who has had his career ruined. The two find out that the Club are operating at Serpine’s old castle. Skulduggery, Shudder, Ghastly, Fletcher and Valkyrie go to the castle and manage to rescue Kenspeckle and Tanith and retrieve one of the the Desolation Engines, but the Revengers’ Club escape. China Sorrows then uses her Fuuinjutsu to force the Remnant out of Kenspeckle. Later on, China shoots Crux after she learns that he has told her secret that she killed Skulduggery’s family.
At the Hibernian, the gang, including Shudder and The Kazekage whose name is Thurid Guild, figure out that the Revengers’ Club had made a second Engine, and that they are planning to use it in a small Village, killing 8,000 people. They all make it to the Village, and they find the rest of the Club. Dusk manages to injure Valkyrie, but lets her live as he saw something strange in her and because of this, he stops his revenge. The Kazekage manages to get the second Desolation Engine from Scarab, but Scarab tells him that he will blow up the Village. When Thurid refuses, he tells him that unless he blows up the Village, his family would be killed by Sanguine. Guild reluctantly accepts this, but before he drops the bomb, Fletcher stops him and takes it himself and deactivates it. Valkyrie finds out where Sanguine is keeping Guild's Family. Her and Sanguine have a fight, and Sanguine wins. But instead of killing her, he keeps her alive, telling her that keeping her alive would be more fun. Sanguine leaves and Valkyrie returns to the Village. She finds out that both Guild and Fletcher are both alive. They return to the Hibernian, where Valkyrie kisses Fletcher. It had been revealed that Guild - The Kazekage had ordered the assassination of Esryn Vanguard after he attempted to bring the war to a truce. Guild accepts responsibility for his prvious actions, and allows himself to be taken to prison for his War Crimes.
Marr, who was jealous of Skulduggery, takes the first Desolation Engine. She tricks Valkyrie and Skulduggery by telling them that Guild wants them to escort him to his cell. She uses Myron Stray to smuggle the engine into Sunagakure's Sanctuary. Using the Engine, Myron is forced to blow up the Sanctuary, killing himself, Pennant and many other sorcerers. Skulduggery manages to escape with Valkyrie and Guild. At Valkyrie’s home, Valkyrie is woken up by a dream. The dream was about the time when she fought Serpine at the Repository. She had looked at her name in the Book of Names. She realizes that she is Darquesse.

It's a shame that the Sanctuary got destroyed, not we are going to have to relocate and we are also going to have to elect a new Kazekage.

Chapter 5 : Mortal Coil
The Man Solomon Wreath of a cult called the 'Necromancers' had actually been teaching Valkyrie how to use a Ninjutsu only they new, they also gave her the ring she used to defeat Davina Marr. Solomon Wreath also helped Skulduggery battle the Faceless Ones at Aranmore Farm, he now decided after meeting with the rest of his cult that Valkyrie would be considered as The Death Bringer, someone their cult believed could allow the dead and the living to live as one. The Remnant that was used to take over Kenspenckle Grouse was now sealed inside a Scroll called the Soul Catcher, a Scroll that Wreath now has and uses to take over Finbar Wrong's body; the Remnant tells Wreath that Valkyrie would also be the Darquesse of the future that would kill the world. The Remnant used Finbar's body to break free of Solomon, escaping in search for Anton Shudder's Midnight Hotel.
Meanwhile, Skulduggery and his partner Valkyrie were searching after Davina Marr, who was responsible for the destruction of the Sunagakurian Sanctuary. They weren't the only two looking for Marr, so was the Iwagakurian Assassin - Tesseract, he was highly skilled Kekkei Genkai user that wore a metal mask and chased Marr. Skulduggery was able to rescue Marr from her Assassin and instead of giving her up to Suna, they questioned her beforehand.
The 'Zombie King' Vaurien Scapegrace was still alive, after Scarab had been captured before blowing up the village, he had managed to escape with the rest of the Revengers' club, but went their seperate ways. He was falling apart, the Virus he had acquire to keep him alive was slowly disappearing and his body was deteriorating. He managed to find the location of Skulduggery's House in The Village Hidden in the Sand and took this to Roarhaven - a small Village within the Land of Wind, but outside of Sunagakure, Further South. Vaurien gave the information to the Tesseract, who set out to capture and Kill Davina Marr.
Valkyrie manages to tell Skulduggery that she is Darquesse, he promises to keep it a secret and promises her that he will help her no matter what. They Find Scapegrace being an idiot after the Tesseract attacks them and kills Marr, then leaves to collect payment from the Torment - The Torment actually tries to kill him, but he escapes only to be possessed by the Remnants. Skulduggery takes Vaurien to Kenspenckle Grouse who tries to stop him from Deteriorating.

It seems the Remnants have been lets out of the Midnight Hotel, I don't know how it happened, but we need to stop them before they take over more and more people. I need to contact Anton Shudder...

Grouse tells the gang Skulduggery, Valkyrie, Ghastly, Tanith, China and Billy-Ray (Decided to join them to hunt the Remnants) about a Giant Soul Catcher in The Land of Fire, which they all set off the get. China and Ghastly are actually possessed and attack the group, Skulduggery has a hard time trying to fight his friend without hurting him, but Tanith and Bill-Ray tell him to get to the Giant Soul Catcher and that they will hold them off. Once at the Soul Catcher with Valkyrie, she becomes possessed and turns into the powerful Darquesse, killing many Konoha and Suna Shinobi that had come to their aid; Skulduggery manages to persuade her to stop and destroy the Remnant her. They both turn on the Soul Catcher and it sucks in all the Remnants all over the world - except for the Tesseract's, who possesses Tanith Low.
The New Sanctuary is built within the Village of Roarhaven, Erskine Ravel becomes the new Kazekage, with Ghastly and Madame Mist (One of the Torment's Children) as his advisor's. Tanith becomes permanently possessed by the Remnant and visits Valkyrie, telling her that she now has Billy-Ray as a boyfriend and plans to lead Valkyrie to becoming Darquesse - she leaves to Kumogakure with Sanguine.

I Managed to track down the Tesseract, he was chasing down the Torment and managed to find him and Kill him in his own house. I tried to arrest him but a Darkness I knew had appeared once more and mortally wounded him - it was Vile...he had come back to try and kill Darquesse. I managed to regain control of myself, Tesseract wanted me to take him outside to see the sunset, so I did and sat with him on a bench - he died, trying to smile.

Intelligence
Skulduggery like a lot of the members of the Nara clan have a great mind, he is a quick thinker and can deduce things easily, hence the nickname 'Skeleton Detective'. He has been complimented within Sunagakure, solving crimes to keep the village a safer place.
“So that plan worked out well."
Skulduggery, your entire plan consisted of, and I quote, "Let's get up close and then see what happens."

Fire & Wind Specialty
Skulduggery's Great Mastery in the Fire Element has taught him how to perform fire with only the one hand seal needed. Skulduggery's Great Mastery in Wind has made him able to perform any Wind jutsu faster than normal.
Dark
Skulduggery has the ability to use a Dark release and found this out whilst in his 'Lord Vile' state - later on he found training for this Kekkei Genkei. He is now a master of it and can use it well.
Taijutsu
Skulduggery has always been a keen fighter, he never hesitates to get close to his enemy and punch them. He trained under his friend ghastly who was a specialist in the art. His great mastery in Taijutsu has given Skulduggery the ability to be faster than most taijutsu users.

Skulduggery has traveled the Ninja World a lot and has been to many places other shinobi don't even know about. On one of these ventures he founded the Scroll of the LonelyAssassin inside of a cave inbetween Konoha and Suna. Skulduggery spent a couple of weeks going back to that cave to learn his secrets.
Fighting Styles
Skulduggery was taught Football arts by his friend and fellow Dead Man, Vex. He knows how this style works and can use it pretty well - Skulduggery has the initial version of the Footballs used for the Arts which are tiny and stored in his pouch before use.
Skulduggery was taught Impact Arts by (Shady's bio) whilst he was in Sunagakure - Skulduggery replaces all his shuriken with boomerangs the same size as them to fit this custom fighting style.
Katana
Another Sword that Skulduggery now has after he lost his second one also - Instead of getting his men to forge one for him, he took this one off of an enemy he had defeated.

Cursed Mark of Earth
Skulduggery gained this Mark when he was trapped inside the sealed Dimension and had it given to him by a Mysterious Shinobi of great power and it drove him slightly insane. The Marking is only at Level 1 State at the moment though.
