There's been a ton of talking about The Last, and for some reason everyone has come to the conclusion that it will be canon to the manga's storyline. Why is that? Did I miss an important announcement?
The way I see it, there is a high possibility that this movie will be something like a GT. It won't be canon to the manga, more like an alternate future or something. Think about this - why would they release a movie that's a direct continuation of the manga before the anime ends? That would just spoil the ending of the show wouldn't it?
Sure Kishi may be heavily involved in this movie, but that doesn't make it canon to the manga. Unless I missed something. If I did, please direct me to a source.
