My statement is based solely on the fact that people with byakugan all share a common ancestry that can be traced to a single individual who may be Hamura. If not Hamura, then Kaguya, and Kaguya is Hamura's mother.

The only way for this to be false is if Kaguya were not unique and is a member of a byakugan-bearing race from another world and the Narutoverse was settled more than once. The Sage said it didn't matter where she came from, thus dodging an explanation for now.
