What we know:
Set three years after the manga’s conclusion, the moon (under unique circumstances) is on a direct collision course with the planet. Hanabi has been kidnapped and it’s up to Naruto, Hinata, Shikamaru, Sai and Sakura to rescue her (
(
What we can assume:
The villain of the story has been revealed!
This mysterious man (who is somehow linked to the original story/manga) is responsible for kidnapping Hanabi and most likely has something to do with the impending doom. (
It can also be speculated that Kakashi will be the new Hokage as his quote read: “I have faith in my people, But for confidence I’d never let them go on any dangerous missions, you know...”
(
(
What we think will happen:
When Hanabi is kidnapped, Kakashi assigns Shikamaru as Team Leader, Team Kakashi (excluding Sasuke) and Hinata (being Hanabi’s older sister an all) are to rescue her whilst the others try to stop the impending doom.
Is Sasuke in the village or not? Many think because of his outfit and lack of Konoha headband, that he will not, which again is most likely due to the current events of the manga.
(
"...if he isn’t around" could be referring to Naruto being away from Konoha to rescue Hanabi, leaving Sasuke to protect the one who was left behind. I believe this is Kakashi (aka the 6th Hokage). Apparently, Sasuke’s quote was directed to someone of authority or his senior (maybe sensei) which is why I suspect Sasuke’s “mission” is to protect Kakashi whilst Naruto is away.
Naruto’s quote: “I have something I absolutely must tell you, please wait for me” could be directed at anyone (
My thoughts:
So as you can see we actual know very little about the film. There are a whole lot of theories going around (some supported/some not) about the plot, characters, pairings and such. But at this point in time the only thing us fans can do quite honestly is wait and see. Maybe more will be released at this Thursday's trailer.
I do believe though, that Hinata will play a much larger role in this film then in the previous OVA's, simply because it seems to involve the Hyuga clan, her sister, along with the fact that she appeared on the “main cast” poster, her voice actor appeared excited for her upcoming role, Kishimoto’s assistance tweets about her, the delayed release of her official sketch and the theme song album cover.
The red scarf around Naruto’s neck (so I managed to gather so far) is supposed to be a major “hint” towards the plot of the story. Personally I feel it has sentimental value for Naruto which motivates him to do his best and reminds him of his goal (similar to other plot devices in Naruto which we have seen countless times).
The real question is on who gave him the scarf ? I know several people think it may have been Hinata, which is very likely. However, what if it belonged to Hanabi and Naruto (and/or Hinata) found it after she was kidnapped altering everyone to her disappearance. Now Naruto wears it until he can give it back to Hanabi after he rescues her. Both are possible, (personally I’d like it to be a keepsake from Hinata) but we can only guess what the actually reason is and speculate on the scarfs significance right now.
"The last story, the first love” (
In my opinion Naruto will not reject Hinata in this film nor will he confess his feelings for Sakura (or Sasuke...). I feel the development of Hinata’s character and in particular, her love for Naruto, has been too focused/developed for Naruto to reject her now at this stage. Whether this will be a story about canon pairings or if any pairings will be confirmed, is unclear at the moment. Though (probably with some biased) I do see NaruHina being the most likely at this point.
I think it started with Hinata’s confession, even though some people claim that’s when this ship sank (because Naruto didn’t reply), I think it was only the beginning. If Naruto had replied (I’m sure he could have found the time) he could have said one of two things: I love you too! or No way! As a NaruHina shipper, we would have been disappointed with either response. If Naruto said he’d loved Hinata in return, it would not have been believable (at that point in time). He could have simply rejected her back then though, but since he didn’t I think Kishimoto wanted Naruto to be aware of Hinata’s feelings and then slowly build on Naruto’s own feelings for Hinata. After Hinata’s confession there has been no diminish in this couples interactions/friendship with Naruto even remembering the event and the manga constantly recalling them.
A personal thank you to everyone who continued to read this really long post. If I have offended anyone then it wasn't my intention. Simply I wanted to share with you all my own thoughts on the new and final movie and put how much we know and don’t know into perspective. I don’t claim that any pairings are cannon and I hope you all have a lovely day and enjoy watching the new Naruto movie as much as we’re all hoping we will.

However, he is a part of the main cast and his quote: “If he isn’t around … I have no choice but to protect you, I guess” to me, suggests that maybe he is back in the village and fighting alongside Konoha ninja to protect everyone. ). At this point in time, it is too vague to specify who. At the moment, I feel it can’t be directed to either Sakura or Hinata as both of them are on the mission with him (therefore they don’t need to wait for him- they’re right there!) However, if for some reason they were to get separated or split up, then who knows. My thoughts:

"The last story, the first love” (

) so apparently the film is also about "first love" who knows what this could mean: parental, friendship, siblings, family, romantic, self-love all is possible! I would have to admit that this has caused the pairing war to immensely be more active as of lately. In my opinion Naruto will not reject Hinata in this film nor will he confess his feelings for Sakura (or Sasuke...). I feel the development of Hinata’s character and in particular, her love for Naruto, has been too focused/developed for Naruto to reject her now at this stage.
