is actually nano technology. we got the otsutsuki clan that have the orign story of the transformers and tech from wakanda. a clan which has progressed far beyond our own in technology to the point they themselves have become part beings and part machine.

i think otsutsuki clans have become so dependent and lost in power that their whole species as a whole has changed, thier anatomy and physiology are soloy reliant to the curse mark or rather nano technology. its thier only way of survival is the energy called Nature Energy. they are practically living batteries. a curse mark indeed. they must consume large amounts of energy (plant size) in order to keep living. of course all that energy could in theory make anything a god.
now this nano tech is special , it could also be organic in a sense that its like a Bacteria or virus that only can latch onto anyone with otsutsuki blood or dna.
the reason why bourto has not become a mindless world ending maniac is because hes a hybrid(human/alien) and an extraordinary one at that. he doesnt need to rely on huge amounts of energy to sustain his life. him and kawakii are of the first beings able to live without complete reliance over natural energy consumption. They are shown to have marks rather than a rinningan on thier palms because thier not completely compatible to the nano tech.,
we know thier are about 5 different marks meaning 5 different OP abilities and 5 different types of viruses. only one virus can attach to a normal lvl otsutsuki expect for the king who probably was able to obtian all five. these virus only link to otsutsuki dna.
when these marks when are close together they resonate because they are only a piece of the same pie. lets say thiers fives pies(the CM) to represent each CM , now pieces of that pie was been dispersed thur out the clans. when the same pieces come together they them self are linking to one another kind of like a cell phone network.
Now if we go back NARUTO is the body of what an all organic otsutsuki member would have been before the CM and Sasuke is the eyes (rinningan) of what a full power otsutsuki member(king lvl shit) would have been after a full planet meal, like cmon the rinningan probably has all the abilites of the CM.
