Tis a sad day that the Jets lost.
But in every cloud there's a silver lining.
Constantly people talk about how anything less than a championship is a failure. But I am I firm believer that that mentality is nothing less than bull****. For years now, the Jets have been an afterthought. The AFC east has been the Patriots. Nothing more, nothing less. They have been the team to beat. And this year, they were beaten. The Jets, despite the embarrassing loss, have dethroned the Patriots as the team to beat in the AFC east. They have asserted themselves as a legitimate super bowl contender. When Rex Ryan stated that the game against the Pats was the 2nd biggest game in Jets history, he wasn't showboating. It really was that important. It told teams "The Jets are real, and we're here to stay".
If you look at the Jets, they're a relatively young team. Outside of Santonio Holmes, LT and Jason Taylor, they don't have any big names who are old.
The biggest hole I saw with the Jets this season was the pass rush. It was non-existent. How many times did Big Ben extend the play? Rush for first downs? Rush for touchdowns? Have all day to pass? It was unacceptable. In my honest opinion, if the Jets improve their pass rush, they will be the best team in the NFL next year.
