Eh... suckish chapter if ya ask me lol. It's somewhat of a filler, meant mostly to give a little bit on Tenzu, and hint at some stuff. So if you don't read it, you won't be lost. And sorry I'm posting these so late. I've been telling Keotsu "next should be up today" for ages. xd Also, very short.

A Circular Path

Tenzu slowly walked through the small forest, casually looking around. Shrugging the cowl of his cloak fully over his head, he slowed his pace, seeing a small village form about twenty meters away. After taking the time to think, he figured that he should probably stop at this town, his search was failing so far, so some assistance would be necessary. He wished that he had brought a second pair of clothing, or even used the transformation technique earlier, but he figured that the guards in the watch towers that loomed above the walls had seen him long before he had seen them. So if he used it now, they’d know something was up, for once, it’d actually be safer to simply wear the Akatsuki outfit.

He noticed one guard walking towards him. The guard was quite large for a ninja. He wasn’t overweight, it was definitely muscle, but he had to wonder how the guard could move like a ninja, he figured that the guy was probably the next thing to a samurai. But he wasn’t using a katana or anything, but a broad sword was against his back. Taking a closer look around the walls of the city, Tenzu noticed, with a little surprise, that he was the only one there. They probably didn’t expect many threats to oppose this village.

Boy were they in for it.

Tenzu stopped as the guard was next to him. The guard was a little above his own height, and a horrid smell smacked Tenzu in the face when the guard was finally near him.

“’Oy, what business do ya have in the village?” he said, making Tenzu chuckle at the heavy accent.

Tenzu looked stunned for a moment after he stopped laughing. Usually, they’d attack on sight, him wearing the full Akatsuki uniform, although he was carrying the hat rather than wearing it. It took him a moment to remember that he was too far east, and north, for Akatsuki to be well known to a small village. He just left the Lightning Country yesterday, so he was almost there, if he moved fast enough, another day would be enough.
He finally answered, “Oh, nothing, just taking a stroll around the village,” he grinned at the guard, assuming that he could see his face from inside the cowl.

The guard looked at him blankly, and then he scowled, slowly realizing the sarcasm in his statement, “A funny one eh? I don’t really like the fun’y ones. Go along with your business.”

“Don’t like the funny ones? That’s ironic considering the whole medieval retired guard accent you have there. Anyway, ever hear of a guy named Shinru? If so, where’d he be around now?”

He was really looking for Riku, of course, but he figured that Shinru was keeping him a secret all these years, added to the fact that it’d be easier to capture him if less people knew about his existence. He was only told of the general location of Shinru, but it was so broad and general, that he’d passed this town a few times while searching, he figured it was about time to start asking the commoners.

The guard seemed to consider his question for a moment, and then answered, “Sorry, haven’t heard of him,” the guard seemed to quickly look down at the ground after answering.

Tenzu squinted for a moment, it was obvious to him that the guard knew who he was; Shinru was famous around here and he could simply see it in the guard’s face. Tenzu assumed that it finally dawned on the guard who he was, or what he was part of more appropriately. The guard probably guessed that he couldn’t be up to much good, so he decided not to.

Tenzu, of course, was exactly correct, the guard’s sweating hand started to creep towards the dagger at his waist. Tenzu smiled a bit, he was an amateur guard, that was for sure. Obviously, he wanted to surprise attack him with the dagger, but it was at such an uneasily accessible place that Tenzu could kill him before he even grabbed it, and from the distance they were at, he’d have to wait for Tenzu to move, and if he was to make the first move, it’d be the last. He thought it best to take advantage of it.

The guard fully grasped the dagger, when suddenly, in a flash, the guard felt a knife
pressing against the front his neck and looked to the side to see a dark sleeve lying on his shoulder. He gasped as soon as he felt the dagger, the man had blinding speed. No... it wasn’t speed. He was an amateur, sure enough, but he saw enough ninja move at great speed to know that this was something different. Teleportation? Do ninja believe in teleportation?

Tenzu’s voice broke into his thoughts in a deadly whisper, “Now, where is Shinru?” The blade pressed harder and harder on the guard’s neck with each word until it was finally so far that the slight flick of the wrist would mean the end of his life.

The guard gulped, his mouth opened, slowly at first, as Tenzu started to pull the blade away from his neck, “North... 22 miles west, 13 north.”

Tenzu smiled, “Not so hard, was it?”

The guard gulped again as the blade started to press against him again, “What else do you want?” He asked, thinking that Tenzu was going to ask another question.

Tenzu’s eyebrow rose, “What do I want? I just want you to keep this whole thing a secret.”

He nodded, and then Tenzu turned around, while fully slicing the dagger, in one smooth motion, he continued speaking, “But I don’t trust ninja very much.”

Tenzu paused and looked around and it had occurred to him for the first time that other ninja were probably watching. He waited for a second, and a bell sounded in the village followed by commanding shouts and confirmed his suspicions.

He considered teleporting away for a moment, and then walked into the village, he figured he had too much fun with that last guy to pass this up.

Tenzu watched with an awkward interest at his own work. The entire town was being engulfed in deadly flames, but to anyone passing by, it would look the same as when he had first arrived—quiet, peaceful, and the like. He placed one of the eternal genjutsu he was so well known for and which helped him get into Akatsuki.

He decided to stop congratulating himself and focused north. He narrowed his eyes at the fact that he wasted chakra on one piece of information. But none the less, it was necessary.

All of his senses honed in on the exact location... of Akatsuki’s soon-to-be recruit.
