Fight scene. ^_^
Syrus was the first to rush in; his bronze hammer and golden, double-sided axe each dragging along the ground behind him as he ran. He quickly brought his hammer up, meeting thin air as Riku crouched low and swept his leg across the ground. Dodging the kick, Syrus slightly jumped while bringing his hammer back down onto his bounty?s head. Rolling to the side, Riku put his arm up, deflecting a more discreet strike with his opponent?s axe, using the metal bracers on his arms, hidden by his cloak. Riku allowed himself to gradually get up while rolling, ending in another crouching position, but on one knee this time.
Syrus twirled his axe from one side of him to the other as he walked towards Riku, beginning to speak, ?Well this isn?t very fun. Not sure why you?ve even got a bounty on your head in the first place.?
Riku didn?t do well hiding his surprise, his eyes popping open suddenly, ?Bounty?? he whispered to himself.
The sound of an axe sparking against rock once again awoke him, making him instinctively bringing his blade up, blocking another overhead strike. Using the momentum of his charge, Syrus quickly pushed his arm forward, pressing on Riku?s blade while flipping over him. Landing behind him, back-to-back, Syrus spun his body 180 degrees while swinging his double-blade axe around. Riku decided to flee upwards this time, boosting his jump as much as he could to finally land upside down on the side of the tunnel.
?Why are you here!?? he yelled down to his opponent.
?You act as if you don?t know,? Syrus replied in a grim tone, seeming almost offended by the obvious question, while throwing his hammer towards Riku.
Riku was almost confused for a moment. As the hammer flew towards him, it seemed like it was literally flying, as he looked at it, the head of the hammer and the pickaxe on its other end flickered from the heads of a hammer and pickaxe to large, bronze wings. Another weird thing; the hammer wasn?t spinning, at all. It was flying straight towards him. There was a needle on top of the hammer, flickering from needle to beak. In his thought, he just barely regained composure to drop down from the ceiling, while flipping over to slowly descend back to the ground to dodge the very hammer that had him captivated.
As he rushed back in towards Syrus, he suddenly heard the parting of wind behind him. Turning around, he found himself now facing not a hammer, but a fully grown, giant eagle. It?s beak was thick and powerful. He spun around and put his blade in front of him, and just as the bird?s head was merely a mile away from him, down it swooped, burrowing into the ground. Riku turned back to Syrus, a confused look on his face.
Syrus simply half-smiled in reply, gripping his axe with both hands now. Riku, not sure what to focus on, held his blade in a defensive position, waiting for Syrus to attack. As he waited, he could hear the earth beneath him crackling. Thinking quickly, he jumped into the sky. And as he went up, looking to the top of the tunnel, he suddenly found himself staring at the beak of the great eagle once more, coming from the top of the tunnel.
?So quickly!?? he thought to himself, surprised that the bird who at first was definitely coming from under him, now came down above him within a matter of seconds.
Riku, quickly thrusting his blade upwards, cut cleanly through the eagle. Too cleanly. And not a drop of blood spilled. He turned his head as much as he could while going into the sky, seeing the bird in two halves, still flying, and suddenly converging back into one, giant eagle once it was fully past him, and continuing to sink back into the ground.
?Shape shifting?? He thought again, still too fearful of sharing any of his thoughts aloud.
His eyes jumped back to Syrus, who still wore a wide, crazy grin on his face. He suddenly remembered that this was a complete tunnel after hearing the earth rumble behind him. Quickly turning, and of course facing the large eagle, he swung his arm wildly backwards. The eagle swooped around him, and Riku suddenly felt a massive pain in his side as the bird slammed into it. Taking a deep breath, he rolled over the bird, taking the hit stubbornly, and put a foot in front of him while twisting, allowing him to land smoothly on the side of the wall. Riku immediately came to the assumption that he would need to get out of the
cave.
Two kunai suddenly produced themselves from Riku?s sleeves. Using those kunai as an appropriate distraction, Riku threw them quickly and began a series of hand signs. A blue veil began to form around his arms, and as the jutsu came to its completion, his normal human arm was replaced by a clawed, bestial one. While throwing several more kunai towards Syrus to keep him at bay, Riku dug his claws into the roof of the tunnel as a collaboration of energy surged through the arm. The end result was an explosion inside of the tunnel of ice. Forcing Riku to put the arm over his head to cover it, and then allowing him to jump through the large, newly formed hole.
?He broke that entire section of the tunnel? Pretty good...? Syrus muttered to himself.
Riku jumped high into the sky, expecting the bird to pop up from the top of the tunnel while performing several more seals.
?Water Style: Waterfall Basin!? he yelled, as a large volume of water appeared from thin air in front of him. The water rushed into the hole, making water drop inside as it filled the tunnel in between its walls.
Only a second after, Syrus came from the inside of the tunnel to the outside, waiting for Riku to descend before speaking, ?Not half bad. You survived pretty long. And nice thought coming out here, though you didn?t exactly think it through completely...?
Riku didn?t have much time to ponder the statement, as the earth bird came up once again this time from behind Riku, not trying in the slightest to conceal its presence. Riku did, however, notice that its wings scraped against the ground. He took note that it couldn?t fly as well or as high in an open area, probably another reason why Syrus had closed off the tunnel. However, this information did him no good as the eagle began to shift its form again, turning into a hammer once again as it flew towards Syrus, spinning right into his grip.
Syrus rushed in towards Riku as the hammer returned to him, and while jumping over the hole, he threw his axe so that it twirled so high into the sky that it was barely visible, though its form could no longer be determined at all. Syrus spun while he threw the axe, allowing him to chop Riku from overhead as he went over him and land right next to the boy on the other side. Riku just barely ducked away from the overhead chop and went right into a horizontal slice with Soul Eater, only to dig it into the ground as Syrus tapped the blade downward with his hammer. Riku let go of it while placing his hands in back of him, allowing him to flip himself backwards, kicking Syrus in his chin and landing on his feet when finished. He jumped back as his ears perked upwards.
?Wind...?? Riku questioned silently attracting a wicked smile from Syrus. Riku could hear the parting of wind, gradually coming closer and closer to him. The axe! It finally occurred to him.
He looked above to see just what he expected, a large bird. But this one wasn?t an eagle; it was a falcon, red in color. It swiftly came down towards Riku, its curved wings seeming as though they could slice steel and its beak as though it could pierce the toughest of metal. The way it descended, so perfectly in balance, not moving in the slightest way except down towards Riku was a sight to behold, nearly making Riku forget to roll out of the way. As he rolled, the falcon almost effortlessly changed its direction. Instead of slamming into the ground, it came to a sharp, yet smooth turn to go straight past Syrus.
Riku began panting, it was becoming too much. He wondered for a moment, the bird can act on its own accord... and while it can stop itself smoothly, it only does that when it sees the blatant need to. His eyes shifted to the hole he had made. The last bird couldn?t fly well in the air... so perhaps this one...
Riku?s thoughts were interrupted as the bird came back. Instead of dodging, He jumped backwards over the hole while rising up his arm, just barely making a shield of ice that covered both in front of him and over him. Just as he expected, the bird swooped down. Not having time to determine if his plan worked, Riku stuck the clawed hand into the wall of ice in front of him as a blast of ice came forth, shooting towards Syrus who jumped up into the sky, just as high as the bird had before. He made a quick handseal, and the falcon was suddenly back under him. Riku took note that his plan must have worked if Syrus apparently didn?t have time to wait for the bird before he hit the ground, and he stored
that information in the back of his mind, saving it for later.
As if he would need it.
The falcon swooped down as Riku pointed his blade to the sky, as ice began to form around it as well as wind, sharpening the sword, tired of dodging and ready to finish this. Syrus neared him as Riku, a determined look on his face, tightened every muscle in his body, prepared to slice through the bird as cleanly as possible. In the distance, he could hear another sound though. Lightning? Syrus turned his head as well as the bird began to slow, but still going quickly enough. The sound was getting closer and closer...
Bang! A shot of lightning scurried across the battlefield, the lightning seemed pointed out like a giant fang at the front of it, the side that slammed right into Syrus. The scene was too difficult to be made out at that point to Riku, but it was satisfying none the less. Syrus and the bolt of lightning both slammed into the top of the tunnel, sliding across it afterwards. When the abundance of smoke cleared, Riku could clearly see a figure standing in the midst of it, brushing off his cloak as Syrus coughed up blood. He wore a long robe, from behind it seemed as though it was open, as it flew back on both sides of him as the wind blew against him. His feet were solid on the ground. And he wore a hat... Riku remembered that it meant something important...
The man swept Syrus from his feet, grabbing him by his collar as lightning began to surge around his free arm. Syrus, his eyes still open from the mere suddenness of the entire thing and coughing up blood as well, managed a rueful smile.
?Looks like you got lucky kid,? he said, letting more blood escape his mouth.
The man cocked back his arm, and brought it forward, and just has he did, Syrus exploded into dozens of birds, all flying closely together in the same direction as the falcon quickly scooped the hammer in its talons and began flying away with them, eventually taking the lead.
The man turned around and Riku suddenly remembered as the man smiled at him. He uttered the words under his breath, ?Yondaime Raikage...?
