If society wants to be civilized, then it would:

1. Need to drastically change the justice system.

2. Eliminate any and all forms of dictatorship.

3. Individuals would need to learn to be kind and considerate.

If society wants to be enlightened:

1. Eliminate all forms of crime, meaning that people simply didn't commit crime period.

2. Eliminate any form of government (including any idea of one world order); also like number 1, there would be no need for law inforcement.

3. Eliminate any form of currency, meaning that people worked simply for the betterment of society.

Will any of these happen? No, it's practically impossible. Doing any one of these is improbable at best. Nothing has changed for thousands of years, the only difference is we have technology now, so we look smarter.

Just my opinion. :p

I love how you don't take the fact that people have very different opinions into consideration.

If society wants to be civilized, then it would:

1. Need to drastically change the justice system.

2. Eliminate any and all forms of dictatorship.

3. Individuals would need to learn to be kind and considerate.

1. - In all countries? Should all countries, no matter their culture, religion, majority-opinion and history have the same set of laws? Who would make those laws? How would those laws look? SHould we go easier on criminals and try to turn them into law-abiding citizens? Should we kill them? Imprison them? What should we do about them? Should it matter that it's a vengeance-crime? A hate-crime? Should the judges and jury take emotion into consideration? Should they be cold? Should there even be a jury? Should we even have the sepration of power? We could let the Monarch/President/Prime-Minister be the judge. Should we take mental instability into consideration? Should insanity be an excuse?

2. - And replace them with what? The oh so civilized system we call democracy? Should we bury the Monarchies in bureaucracy? Should we simply remove the head of the snake and expect everything to suddenly turn Western? We did that to Iraq, look how that went. Should we even be trying to turn this Western? Why? Are we not simply attempting to assimilate everything into our Western society? Should we replace the dictators with a monarch? With direct democracy? representative democrary? How do we prevent the elections from being unfair? Do we interfere? Do we force ourselves upon weaker nations just because we demand that they become a democratic nation? Do we ignore the calls for Sharia Law in some countries? DO we support democratic minorities just because they're Western-ish?

3. - Following what culture? Should we accept everyone? Be respectful towards everyone? Murderers, rapists, too? Should we accept all cultures and religions?

All your points seem so focused on making things better from a single groups point of view by making everyone else follow that group. In a way, what you're talking about would be mind-control on a global scale, with a few nations dictating the rights and wrongs of the entire globe. Now that, that would be a dictatorship.

1. - Before you can fire the many million people in the the careers that have anything to do with law-enforcement and the military, you'll have to actually make everyone follow all laws. You'll have to use the executive power to do that, also known as, for example, the police and the army. But if they arrest people, also known as, imprisonment, isn't that illegal? Isn't it illegal to bear firearms? To 'arrest' people? The executive power fights crime by breaking laws, you can't possibly eliminate all forms of crime without constantly monitoring every single human being on the planet at all times while simultaneously having a gigantic executive branch with special privileges. Hey, wouldn't that be a dictatorship, too? Yes it would.

2. - Is it just me, or does youe entire plan seem like it needs Madara's goddamn Moons Eye plan to work? Unless you change human nature itself fundamentally, this could never work. If you remove the legislative power AND the judicial power you've effectively ruined any chance of stopping crime. Of course, the entire thing is impossible because perfect Anarchy is an impossibility amongst humans. We always create some sort of hierarchical system. We always create some type of government, no matter how simple, it's always there. Of course, removing all the three powers would result in total chaos and millions of deaths before any sense of order could be restored. Of course, those who restore the order would be a form of government, sucks for your number 2, huh?

3. - O_O Such a system cannot work, we always have some sort of currency, whether it be paper, goods, how many hours we work, whatever.

Jebus, it ain't even possible.

First off, I find it odd that you parctically had a meltdown over my opinion. Was that not stated at the bottom...I thought sure I put it there...:)

Secondly, I never said it wouldn't turn people into robots; in fact, that's the only way it would even work. Lastly, I never said it was possible, I'm just saying that this is what is required, in my opinion, to be able to call society as a whole (yes, globally) civilized or enlightened. :)

Oh, and don't think I didn't already run through the stuff you posted in my head. I took all that into consideration. I also forgot that religion would need to disappear (despite the fact that I'm religious, I don't look at stuff with the bias you might believe I do. ;) )

Honestly, change will happen when people want to change. Change wont just happen talking about it on the internet, or with our friends about how we want things to change in the world. It's actually getting up and doing it, no matter what the cost. A lot of people care to much about what others think of them, in which case people wont go against social norms because they don't want to become an outcast. Its a sad but true fact of life.

We wont change.

We're Parasites, We shall suck this planet dry and die with it, Unless we find another planet to Ruin.
All in the Name of Greed/Money

Or we shall nuke ourselves into oblivion.

Interesting perspective. If you put a man and woman on a small, tropical island alone, give them two hundred or so years, the whole place would be destroyed. No one would survive; they'd have used up all the resources and their descendants would have most likely died of starvation.

The problem is one that has been studied actually. Human nature is subject to one massive flaw; it will ignore the encroaching danger despite all the signs. Immediate danger is dealt with right away; but something that takes a while is ignored. It's compartmentalization; we refuse to see something as a problem when it's on that scale.

A disaster that happens to a city, for example a tornado that demolishes hundreds of lives and thousands of homes, is a great concern for the surrounding people; especially those that were affected. A hundred miles away from there, people are still shocked by it, but only a very small handful would ever care to assist the victims. A thousand miles away, and hardly anyone takes notice; and if they hear about, they merely feel sorry for them.

Compartmentalization. People do not want to acknowledge that they're in any danger, nor that it will ever happen to them. There's actually people that still live near Krakatoa. People actually choose to live in California. They live near oceans period; even those famous for tsunamis and such...there's still people in Japan. They choose to ignore the danger, as if it will merely glide over them...even though they know it won't.

The thing is, like the old saying goes, one rotten apple can spoil the basket. Even if everyone in the world except one person changed for the better, that one person would eventually re-introduce discord. As far as I'm concerned, Humans are evil by nature, you don't have to teach a baby to be rude, to spit at you, to slap you, to pull your hair, but you do have to teach it to be polite, to know its boundaries, teach it manners and etiquette and what not.

It's really interesting how people start talking how people are turning "bad" and "evil"; I bet that even most of you don't have a slightest idea how actually to define those words if it wasn't for a movie you saw or a book you read in which there was an antagonist. To be honest, such adjectives should not exist, they do not exist, they are just creation to put a label on people who think completely differently. So instead of doing it, maybe you should try to understand those "evil" human beings.

So, you say there's no hope in the human race because it's losing their morals, but was there hope 50 years ago during WW2, or was it there 100 years during WW1; or maybe I should go further back, 1000 years ago when there were religious wars all over Europe and the middle east, when people were killed because they were thought to be witches? So why is it there no hope? Because you read in some book of an imaginary perfect world? Well, that's not so, although there were different societies and different ideas through the history they all had their good and bad sides, and believe me some had some really bad sides.

As for the ones today, well, they might be different from the ones from a hundred years ago, but I'm not as sure as you whether they are so much worse. You just want to see the bad in the society you live in and ignore the flaws of the others. Such views have always existed, our society is the worst because we live in it, and the others were perfect. That's part of human nature, to exaggerate, especially when it's related to him.

So, all in all, you are just complaining because you saw something you didn't like and made yourself believe that you are living in the worst possible epoch.

P.S. For fuc*'s sake, stop with all those apocalyptic comments, we've already seen enough of them. Humans are as they are, as all the other animals they want the best for themselves, and if you don't want to believe it, you are just ignorant.
The end is near? Well, the end has been near for thousands of years, and we are still waiting for it. And believe me, you'll keep expecting it...

I believe that after the horrors of the last century, people in general are trying their hardest to be good. People believe that "evil" is only increasing, but I think that it's more apparent due to instant world wide coverage by the media. Drug use was just as bad, or even perhaps worse during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The two opium wars during the 19th century was all caused by opium. What major government changing wars instigated only by drugs has occurred in the last century?

As humans, we have the ability to change. How else would we have gotten here if it wasn't for the ability to change to match our environment. Sadly though, we are war driven creatures. We desire war for quick, effective change, although the price is sometimes not worth a damn thing.

Yes because there's just as much good in the world no matter how overlooked it gets. Everything has a balance.

the worst part of the human race is that we identify good and evil as having substance and form, rather than abstract absolutist concepts that wouldnt exist without us being here to acknowledge them and give them meaning , we seek comfort in these labels, because they let us think that if we make enough "moral" choices we can be labeled as "good" and vise versa if you make enough immoral choices you will be labeled as "bad" , these vagaries of perception are what delude us into thinking we must fight to defend good or fight evil or vise versa, when we only destroy ourselves in the process, there is no great battle for good or evil, there is no just cause, there are only causes, there is only existance, and the more we try to label ourselves with absolutist concepts like right and wrong good and evil black and white the more we will fall into degradation

the only answer is for everyone on the planet to share the same perspective that beliefs that dictate what is right and wrong are arrogant and fail to acknowledge that there are no certainties for us because were not advanced enough to truly understand the universe we live in, all we can do is grasp at understandings and try to approximate what the "truth" is, if everyone shared the same view that instead of believing in one thing, you should try to understand as much as you can , constantly changing and expanding your reality, what you accept as truth based on the gathering of facts and the closer approximating of that truth, but realizing that you can never reach truth because there are no certainties and no understanding will be 100% correct, so as infinity is out of our reach, so will be truth , then truth would no longer become something that would result in the deaths in hundreds of millions of people but something that we could all simultaneously move towards together with the humble acceptance we will never truly reach it, but take comfort in the fact that we would move as one, with an understanding of each other that can never be realized with the world as it is

if we move forward as a species with the idea that everything we are, that we identify ourselves with, culture, creed , religion, race, region, economic gain, political agendas, moral causes, are all just constructs of our minds and what we choose to accept, and can ultimately be changed so instead of separating us as a species, it could be unifying us under a singular understanding, that we are human beings of the planet earth in our moderately small solar system, and thats all we are, that the only thing that defines us is our existence and the fact that we can contemplate our existence , given that anything else is just meaningless, then we can finally begin to move forward as a species and truly begin to evolve again, not in a physical adaption to climate, but to the idea that were are particles, star dust compared to the rest of the universe, and we should not be arrogant about any of our understanding because it would always be grossly insufficient and result in chaos to believe weve found truth and to fight and kill for that truth when its equally as insufficient as our capacity for understanding , so the only advancement we have left is mental advancement, and the only way to do that is to evolve our understanding as one

at least thats what i think anyway

as long as youre open enough to new ideas to try and understand what im trying to say i feel accomplished :D plus rep to you too mate

edit: i guess in the end i do feel our species is nearing the precipice where we will either spring forth in a new unified understanding of ourselves and all existence and constantly try to seek the truth or well accept the flawed ideals of the past and destroy ourselves in their name

either way, im chillin
