Konoha was caught by surprise. With most of their ninjas unavailable and bad organisation skills all they really had time to do was protect civilian casualties (Sakura, Shikamaru), get the research from Shiho and Tsunade to protect all the villagers.

If Kakashi had gotten more backup or had gone in with Guy things could've seriously gone differently.

Danzo and his whole unit of elite ninjas refused to fight.
Yamato, Sai & Anko were away.
Team Guy were off on a mission.
Jiraiya was dead.
Naruto was at Mt. Myoboku.

They got trashed but with better organisation and better numbers I think that even without Naruto the Leaf IMO could've defeated Pain.

jiraya was killed by the pains so he doesnt count, team guy wouldnt make a difference nor would yamato and anko at the end of the day the village would still have been destroyd by st...btw i think 3 giant toads+2 toad sages+ Sm naruto+ intel+plot+kyuubi outbreak > team guy+yamato and anko

What Da Best Ever Said. Most of them wouldn't have made a difference. Not many knows of what kind of shinobi Danzo has under his wing. He does however have some stuff in his arsenal. He might have made a difference with KA and Izanagi but it would leave Tsunade alive and he wanted the throne.

A lot of ifs, but truth is pain was most deadliest because he had the advantage of being mysterious. The rinnegan was a myth up until Nagato got it from Madara. No one knew of its abilities. Even if Jiraiya killed the paths, Nagato would still be alive, he would just need to replace Naraka path and he would be able to bring back the rest.

I bet the 6 paths if pain.....I know the 6 paths if pain wouldn't be able to solo the . hidden cloud.
1. The A, B combo is MORE than enough to destroy the 6 paths on pain.

2. If konohamaru soloed the human path, im positive omoi could do it as well.

3. Nagato would been found instantly by Cee, who would have soloed konan with genjutsu.

4. The raikage would have soloed a sick, feeble Nagato with speed blitz, liger bomb, negative diff.
