Time rings ep 54
We were informed in ep54 that the colored timerings are rings formed when someone messes with history (by traveling to the past)
and the white ring is the timering to travel to the future and back.
Gowasu the yellow kai, also lends one of his green earrings to Zamasu for a moment (and with that, temporarily promotes Zamasu to supreme kai. They are both Supreme kai at that moment), because they want to check how the Barbarians are doing 1000 years later and you need to be a supreme kai to travel in time.
Gowasu says that the timering only allows to travel to the future and back and not to the past and even if it could be done, that its harshly forbidden. That history can be changed through traveling to the past and how the colored timerings are created that way. That even a few years back another one was created by someone messing with time.
Zamasu receives the green earring from Gowasu that is the same color and in the same ear as black Goku.
This thus temporarily makes Zamasu a supreme kai who can use the time rings.
It is likely that Zamasu will never take that one off and that he will take the box with the time rings.
