The future of Boruto's anime only characters

From what I can gather we have Sumire, Iwabe, and Denki who despite being in the anime are not in the manga (I most likely missed a few more). This makes no sense to me. Personally, I like these characters and think they are good additions, especially Sumire. Why would solid characters like these only appear in the Anime as if they are only filler characters? Does this mean they are destined to leave the anime? For the manga and Anime to be so different already in terms of the character line up boggles my mind. Is there more to the story? What do you guys think will happen to these characters?

Maybe Momoshiki kills them, that would be an effective say to create drama in an arc that originally has no deaths while retconning characters at the same time. 2 birds one stone.

Recent episode about the 5 kage summit already contradicted the manga by having the Hokage defacement play out a lot differently.

That's because the Anime is filler. I keep telling people this but no one listens :lol

The academy arc is questionable but it isn't 100% sure since those characters aren't even in the manga yet

How is this a contradiction? The kage meeting was very well done. If anything these changes are important to match the timeline and events that happened before

As of now, only the Academy Arc is canon, since from what I've heard, Kishimoto called it legit like he did with the Bolt manga as a whole. Though I've never seen a source for the bold.
