Introduction

Chapter 1
(Lost Souls)

Who am I?
An essence thought to itself. Better yet, what am I?
All around it was nothing but pure darkness, it remembered once having a form, but at the moment all what it was, was nothing but a golden mass of murky liquid floating in the middle of nothingness.
Did I die? No thats not it, it thought once more to itself. Why am I without form?
“Welcome Lost Soul to the land of View, you have been chosen to take place in the war of endless Tears.” A booming voice resounded around the essence, it came from everywhere, and nowhere. It's voice was reassuring and was like that of a supernatural entity. “You must have a lot of questions, about what you are and what you will be, however it all shall be answered in due time, for now let us concentrate on creating a physical avatar for your soul.”
Is this god? The essence asked itself quitely.
“I am neither God nor the devil, I am simply a being that gifts the Lost with avatars to roam about in the land of View.” The voice responded to the essences thoughts, “However like like those beings I exist on a higher plane of existence then you pitiful souls, your comprehension of the universe is nothing to our understanding, our thoughts are far beyond yours. In that regard allow me to craft you a body so that you may transpire through the land and begin your war.”
Before the essence could even thing of a reply it felt a physical force engulf his golden mass shrouding it in a blanket of a muscle tissue, flesh, organs, blood, veins, and hair. In less then a second it was over, standing alone in the darkness was a well toned adolescent male with thick dark curled hair, blue eyes, a stout nose, red lips, and set cheekbones. A white turbin covered the youth and a white sash garnered his waist, piecing together the youth's design.
“Before you go, you must have a name, one so that you may identify yourself, as you move throughout the land.” The voice boomed once more making the youth's flesh dance with vibrations.
The youth's blue eyes stared directly ahead, and said in a soft whisper, “Call me Sparrow”
“VERY WELL! SPARROW, GO AND MAKE WAR, AND COME BACK ALIVE!” and with that command, Sparrow began to fall, he was coated in a golden sphere surrounding his body shielding him. He felt his stomach turn circles as he descended from the heavens. As he fell his thoughts were running wild, lost soul? Land of the View? War of endless tears? Avatar? What does this all mean, what am I? The thoughts swam around the youths head creating an endless cycle of questions as he continued to descend unto the fast approaching earth. Raising his hands, to protect himself, he noted the surrounding below. There was a shimmering lake, some rocky mountains, and a large grassy plain.
Thanks to the golden orbs protective shell he was unable to direct his fall, so he just waited to slam into the direct center of the grassy plain below him. Turning his head, his jaw dropped as he saw thousands of other golden orbs falling from the unending darkness.
Despite his confusion Sparrow knew one thing and one thing alone there were thousands just like him, and that thought, both frightened and comforted him.
-
Surprisingly there was no impact when the orbs touched the ground instead mere inches from the earth's surface they levitated, and then with enough care to not even bother a sleeping infant the orb made contact with the Land of the View.
Saphire blinked in surprise at this, the way she was falling she could've sworn she would've met her imminent demise. A blue turbin covered her sleek form, she was a young girl with an average height, long golden brown hair, deep blue eyes, and soft cheeks. All around her were the other Lost Souls that had fallen from the void of darkness. She blinked softly as she stood on the side of a grassy field. She surmised quickly that it wasn't wise to stay here for to long so she began moving carefully as she saw the other figures slowly examining their new avatars for their souls and were looking despairingly around them as if they couldn't comprehend the reality of the situation.
So these beings are like me, and I am like them? What did the voice call us? Saphire thought to herself as she continued to stalk away from the massive crowd of people. She then touched a hand to her heart and realized there was something beating inside of her, What is this thing inside me that beating? I don't understand the meaning of this avatar, it feels confusing. Exactly what am I?
A being with a larger avatar moved towards her, in its eyes she could nothing but despair, “What are we?” it asked pleadingly dropping to its knees, tears appearing in its eyes. She raised her hands as if to ward it off and side stepped the crestfallen figure.
She noticed another bright sphere in the sky filling the entire area with light, illuminating the grass and casting all lingers feelings of darkness. For a moment she allowed herself to allow the golden rays to fill her and calm her entire being freeing her mind from the dark void her Soul had been sealed inside. The thing in the sky, whatever it was it would be a symbol of freedom and beacon of hope for her.
Letting out a sigh, she took her eyes off the sphere and then she froze as she noticed all noise had ceased, and the movement of the billowing masses had ceased, avatars were frozen midstride, in mid air, or even halfway falling down.
Only one figure moved, it slid its way towards her, it was cloaked in a blue and silver robe, it wore brown boots with gray straps, and had a hood covering his features. It was being with a firm chest, standing at least a head taller then her and possessed a very muscled body. Along its waist was a belt with a blue diamond in the center, and rested around his neck and draped upon his chest was a medallion of a shape she couldn't comprehend.
She took a step back knowing instantly that this being was in a whole new league entirely. It moved with precision and full of confidence. Whatever it was it knew what it was, and she could only hope that she could one day possess the power of this figure.
“Greetings Saphire,” It said inspecting her blue turpin, “ah a Hiyzoden female, impressive,” Saphire began to move her mouth in awe of the strangers words, what was this thing that spoke so confidently and had so much certainty in its words and deeds, and female? Hiyzoden? What were those things?
It held up a hand to her, “Don't worry I will explain everything as we go along, there are a lot more people to gather and a lot of questions to be answered, and rules to be explained, but first things first.” It reached forward and grabbed her forearm, before the beings immense pressure she felt riveted to the grounded powerless before this beings power. There was a flush of pure white pain as she felt her body burn, she felt air, smoke and liquid start flowing out of her mouth as the hand on her arm began ot create a chain reaction filling her with pain and making all the questions and thoughts within her mind cease entirely, as her world was once more filled with blackness and she collapsed into the shadows soft embrace.
-
When she came to she was surrounded by about eleven other Lost Souls as well as the being that had caused her to pass out. She forearm still felt like it was ablaze with fire, but there was no flames, just one her arm was the insignia of a diamond with the outer design of a silver coloring and the insides a clear white. She placed her right hand over her left forearm, but suprisingly the insignia shown through her hand. In shock she felt herself scream and toppled over landing forcibly on another being behind her.
This being was unmoving and was of shorter stature, however like her it had a similar sleek form, and long silver hair, and on its arm was an insignia of yet another diamond, it as well radiated with the white light that shone through the other beings face.
A soft ring of laughter surprised her as she moved off the still being, there standing with about four other being standing or slouching behind it was another tall being, it had dark red hair, a thin physique, and lonely brown eyes. It's lips were twisted in the same fashion as the being that had wounded her arm. It wore red pantaloons, a brown sash, and blackened thin clothing around its torso revealing bare arms and nimble fingers.
It took Sapphire a second to realize that her and the group were sitting in the center of an veranda. They were surrounded on three side by light grey walls with green tendrils of the odd vine breaking through. In the center of the sides was a singular green door with no visible décor except the obvious smell of pine, that had remained despite the green paint that had been used to change the doors color.
However it was the view of the lake that took Sapphire by surprise. It was truly a moving view, she could see odd winged being swooping high in the air and crying out odd screeches. Then there was the apparently never ending expanse of blue. It was a truly beautiful sight. The golden sphere in the sky had its rays collide with that of the waters giving off mini flashes of lights that looked like tiny sparks. Another figure a younger looking avatar with short hair, darker face, white turpin, and a silver sash with brown sandles with golden straps moved past her and stared in wonder of the beautiful scene before them.
Sapphire then turned her eyes and saw another figure in the room, this figure was different then the others. It was dressed in black cloak with silver trimming along the sides of the figure as well as silver woven bars running from tip of the hood to the bottom, revealing well studded black boots with white straps. The figures face was hidden from her by the hood however she could see blue eyes glinting from beneath the hood. Whatever figure this was, it brimmed with a silent strength, that was rather hard to see, and unlike any other figure it had a calm presence to it, as if it was indifferent to the situation entirely. The figure leaned against the wall hands resting on its sides, head bowed, and to the not to the casual observer’s eyes could've passed for a being that was resting. However Sapphire saw past the ruse and quickly discovered that he wasn't resting in fact it looked like he was preparing for something that she couldn't even imagine yet.
The being lifted it hooded face to her, revealing a slightly hairy face, collected features and a soft expression. Sapphire blinked at the being, what is this thing?
-
Winter groaned as she slowly struggled past the last visages of sleep and into the coolness of the waking world. She tentatively batted a string of her silver hair past her eye and saw the other Avatars before. Silently she felt a sense of dread being near so many of these beings, but shaking herself, she felt her lips rise, thinking the feeling was natural she slid towards the tall Avatar with red pantaloons, passing another Avatar with golden brown hair.
Gathering herself she whispered, “What are you?”
The larger being looked down on her with its brown eyes that seemed to twitch with an odd glint upon noticing her. Before It could speak, a bell sounded.
-
“Welcome one and all, I see that you all must be wondering who, what, and of course why you are here, as well as what are the objects in the sky and on the ground. All these questions will be answered in due time, however before I begin to explain these simple realities, I must order you all to stand firmly before me, be calm, I will not harm you, just stand before me.” Gabriel said to the Lost Souls standing before him. Each of these beings, were in their infantile stage, unaware of nothing and yet possessing the will of a child.
As the Souls slowly stood and lines up before Him, Gabriel, noted that Sapphire was looking at him nervously, gently touching the insignia on her arm. Gabriel reached up and removed the hood from his head revealing long white hair, a thin silver beard and solemn white eyes. “I am the Hajah Gabriel, a Scholar if you will, a being that has been sent to you to prepare you for the long quest ahead of you and to teach you in all things, from art to fighting, to literature, to poetry, to weaving, to treating wounds, to survival skills and most importantly who and what you are.
The Souls looked at him bewildered and were all apparently in awe of the clarity in which he spoke, Gabriel cleared his throat, remembering this was the same reaction to what had had last time when he had gathered the previous number of souls before him. A well built lanky male with red eyes cooly cut a jibe at him, “Can you repeat that? I don't understand a lick of it. Nearly all the souls were nodding in agreement to the males coolness.
Gabriel shook his head, “Sam, you are a male Icoden, this means that you are naturally quick to anger and very powerful in physical combat. In other words, you are a berserker born and bred. Training you will be as difficult as training a fish to fly.” Sam's face turned downwards into a frown and he backed off chest puffed out indignantly.
“Male? What is that?” A female named Elizabeth piped up confidently, she was a women of short stature but possessing tight arms and a taunt body that promised quickly and stealthy attacks. She will make a good assassin, Gabriel noted nodding.
Gabriel nodded, “Good question, Reuben, Benjamin, Sparrow, Sam, Itachi, Cody, and Victor, move to end of the verenda.” As the males moved away from the females, Gabriel spread his arms wide. “Winter, Elizabeth, Sapphire, Silvia, and Minx you are all female, while ones at the end of the veranda are all male.”
The two sides looked at eachother noting the differences between eachother and exchanging odd glances of confusion and slight understanding with eachother.
After some time Sapphire looked at her hand examining the Insignia and raised her hand, “Gabriel what are these marks?
Gabriel, held up a hand, “I will get to that but first must explain what you all are.” pausing again he spoke, “Sam, Minx, Silvia, and Reuben you are all Icoden, what this means is that your special power is the ability to posses immense physical power, and or immense speed. Benjamin, Cody, Winter and Elizabeth, you are all Slicoden, which means your ability is the ability to blend into the shadows and make sneak attacks, you will all be diligent and effective arches and will possess a wide knowledge of battle tactics.” Gabriel swiveled his head and took a few steps foreward before continuing, “Sapphire, Victor, and Sparrow, your gift is perseverance and a never giving up will, you are all Ashcoden” Gabriel then moved in front of Itachi, “You are this groups Sanoden meaning you are this groups leader, you have a deep wisdom and a long suffering heart that will and can endure more suffering then any in the group can endure any problem and then rise above it, it won't be an easy task, but you must take this position without shame, and persevere through everything that will come at you.”
“With each position will come weaknesses and through overcoming these weaknesses will be what makes you stronger” Itachi said in a whispered thought, catching even Gabriel off guard.
Victor shook his head with anger, and thrust his fist at Gabriel, “Why must we listen to him? Why must we lower ourselves beneath him?”
Gabriel shook his head, “That is his burden, as your burden is to persevere and protect everyone, we are all called to our duty, and it takes true courage to obey our duty faithfully, now this leads me to to the answer of Sapphire's question. The purpose of your insignia, or to more of a point your Morality.”
“Morality?” Silvia asked. She was a fine cut figure with a luscious blonde hair, soft cheeks, blue eyes, a green turbin, red sandals, and a crown of fig leaves were around her head.
“Yes,” Gabriel said, “The war of Endless Tears, is not just war against others, but it is a battle of Morality. In other words you all will be tested. The Morality or as the device is known as the Serif. For each sin you commit a black color will taint your Serif. As you all can see your serif currently filled with white, if you can surive the war with some white left in your Serif, you will indeed leave the Land of the View, which once you complete that task, I will meet up with you once more and you will be guided into a place where you will belong.
Cody, a slim figured male, with sharp yellow eyes, firm jaw and dark tinted skin, raised a hand with a red ring on his pointing finger. “Gabriel, what is sin?”
Gabriel frowned, “sin is a disease that infects all of you, when you were born in this world you were already infected with sin, and the only way to survive in this world is to escape it before being overcome by sin.” A smile slowly lit Gabriels face, “but take heart, this is a war of survival, work together love eachother and show compassion to eachother, follow the book of Tess, and you will all make it out.” raising his hand, Gabriel allowed a pure golden light to appear, and with the muttering of some incoherent words, twelve books were quickly crafted and placed into the hands of the Lost Souls. “Before I leave you, I must say that this book, is your only hope of leaving this place, put your faith in it completely, if you don't you will be overwhelmed and you will die” he hesitated a moment before rasping, “or something worse will happen.”
“Your leaving?” Winter said bewildered, “We need you!”
“Yeah!” Minx added in, “We know nothing without you, and we still have more questions, why are we called Lost-”
Gabriel raised a hand, “I leave you now in Itachi's hands, all of you I charge you under the heavens to make it through this journey alive, none of this will be easy, but I know you can do it, I will return from time to time to ensure that you stay on the thin trail of righteousness and allow yourselves to live for eternity and not for temporary gain.” a tear slowly fell down Gabriels face. Then he transformed and was transfigured before them, his face became like that of a divine being, a pure white light swept through the room, making the Lost Souls scramble backwards, “Go forth and emerge victorious!”
And with that command the group was gone leaving Gabriel standing alone. “Good luck to all of you” he whispered softly.
A wind blasted Gabriel making his blue cloak flap, he raised his hand above his eyes shielding his gaze from the sun as he saw storm clouds approaching.
“Dear friend, you did well” A voice behind Gabriel spoke softly.
Gabriel turned and saw the figure of the Golden-eyed man. “I am surprised you show yourself to me, usually at this time you are busy meeting the Lost Souls and preaching the Word”
The Golden eyed man looked at him, “I have already encountered Rin at the Time of the Falling. This time around I want to make sure there will be survivors and not all being served to Rin on a platter.”
Gabriel shook his head, “I know, but all we can do is wait and pray for a miracle, and hope for the impossible to happen.
“I will not let them fall this time, I will succed this time” The Golden-eyed man shouted, “Some of you will live this time!!!”
