I just read a thread where it was stated that Sasuke would take down Hiruzen - and i
think that this is simply ridiculous... :shrug:

First of:
Hiruzen lived in a time with legends such as Madara, Hashi and Tobirama -
He knew very well that they were totally overpowered and very strong,
and so did the rest of Konoha!

WHILE KNOWING THAT THESE LEGENDS WERE SO VERY, VERY, VERYY STRONG -
the people of konoha STILL named Hiruzen "the god of shinobi" because of his overwhelming powers, KNOWING that there have lived shinobis like Hashirama -- :scorps:

I know that it is hard to judge his powers because we haven't seen anything from him in his prime
but i think his title is underestimated so very much.

In fact, i believe we shouldn't put Hiruzen in any VS thread because of the missing knowledge of his "real" strength. U_U

It's funny, I have been trying to make the same point of his awesomeness. But, in my opinion (opinion, not stating it to be fact), current Sasuke could take him. I don't like saying that, because I hate Sasuke, but I can't deny it.

They obviously weren't considered when he got that title, since they were long dead by the time he was called "God of Shinobi".

Oh, Hiruzen in his prime.. He def owns Sasuke. But, old man? Remember he doesn't have the vitality like Sasuke does. I completely acknowledge that at one time he was "The God of Shinobi" but as you saw, he wasn't as strong. Pre-EMS Sasuke would lose, imo. But, now that he has EMS.. idk, man.

We've debated quite a bit on this, lol. Well, I would think it is obvious that people were alive when he was being trained by the 2 former kage and when he was in his prime. I mean, look at Danzo and the 2 advisors. They were students of Tobirama. Plus, we dont know when the title was bestowed upon him.

So you believe that when they died (Madara vanished) The powerlevel which they had shown were lost and forgotten? That people from the village forgot all about these legends and didn't compare Hiruzen to any of the other kages when calling him a god?

Most of the people who witnessed it were obviously not there.

Kabuto stated that Hashirama was so strong that his power was viewed as a fairy tale by many many people.

Hiruzen's power wasn't strong enough to be considered a fairy tale; unbelievable like Hashirama's.

And yeah, I forgot, Madara escaped.

Are you sure about that?

Hiruzen's power was great but not great enough to render it unbelievable.

And I don't see how Prime Hiruzen is underestimated considering the fact we know nothing about him.

Well it depends on how you choose to understand the meaning of a "god". I think that a "god" possess strength which is out of our imagination, it is simply unbelievable. A "god" possess a godly strength which can't be compared to anything else.
He can be underestimated when he is used in VS threads, knowing he has this title - Sometimes he gets overestimated, but it's often he gets underestimated - ... His title wasn't given to him easily..

The title obviously came after Tobirama died, during his reign as Hokage.

In his Prime he is known as God of Shinobi and the strongest Hokage; his Prime is obviously not before he became Hokage.

Tobirama died as a decoy after telling Hiruzen that he is the new Hokage, and by this time; Hashirama had already died, since Tobirama had become the 2nd Hokage.

This is the point; Hiruzen's power wasn't great enough to be called unbelievable; instead his power was at a point where people could actually believe it is true.

As for Hashirama; people viewed his power as a fairy tale, so powerful that it is unbelievable; unlike Hiruzen's.

When he is used in VS threads, it is most likely Old Hiruzen, because we know nothing about Prime Hiruzen.

When Iruka said that Hiruzen is the strongest Hokage to the Academy students. Hiruzen replied with "Hey, Iruka!! Don't use past tense!!" Hiruzen IMPLIED he that he was the strongest in his prime. Hiruzen was taught by both the 1st and 2nd. He'd probably know about their techniques and how to counter them. Heres when Sarutobi implied that before he was the strongest.

Just let the idea sink in for a minute. Even if the 1st and 2nd edos were being controlled, Hiruzen was still able hold his ground against them both at the same time and seal Orochimaru's hands in the end at the age of 69. He even place explosive tags on the 1st and 2nd without Orochimaru even noticing.

Enma asked what was wrong with him and stated that he wasn't fighting like he normaly does.
Yet he was still able to hold his ground against two Kages.

Even in his old age, it was said he was Equal to Oro, when the manga had stated many times he is far weaker than his prime.

Do you know where he stood at his prime? Since you don't know where he or Sasuke EMS would stand at 18, you sure sound too sure of yourself.
