Mind elaborating on #2? To me Madara only appears in the manga now to be a war asset, doesn't seem like he had much more influence than any other jounin in his time considering his clan abandoned him. :/

This is not my list but I agree with the original poster. Madara was a co-founder of Konoha, former controller of 9T, and without the fight between him and Hashirama none of the story would have taken place. His Edo appearance is not what makes him influential - it's what he did while still alive!

Ah, good points. You actually may be entirely right, we don't know who Tobi is but if the half Madara / half Zetsu just prior to Madara's death theory is correct He'd be by far the most influential. Thanks for commenting.

Well, if it wasn't for Madara controlling the Kyuubi, the 2nd wouldn't have had the Uchiha made head of the Konoha Police department of the village and kept under surveillance.

Then, the Uchiha were sanctioned off after the Kyuubi attack. Because of Madara, it became well known knowledge that the Kyuubi could be tamed by the Sharingan. This lead to the Uchiha clan uprising and their downfall, which is why Sasuke is on a spur of revenge against Konoha.

Madara potentially almost created a Fourth War.

Another good point although they took care of the Uchiha before it escalated to that point. I wonder how different this series would be if the second hadn't held Madara's actions against all of the Uchiha.

Madara is worth a shout too actually. The mention of his name got everyone so scared they started a war and he also started Konoha too. He is also the key reason for the Uchiha hatred from those at the top of the Leaf that caused the massacre too.

interesting;

1) 3rd Hokage-he's basicially responsible for the development of most shinobi (that we know) in the village, such as; THE Sannin, Naruto, Minato, etc. Unlike most before him he didnt has any special doujutsu or anything giving him an advantage, but pure talent and hard work. This IMO set the village as whole into motion and being the best they could be, whether they were talented or not.

2) Jman- was the mentor of Naruto, Nagato and Minato. He usually got those he was seen as weaklings but helped that craft the abilities and motivated them to be their best.

3) Orochimaru- had an influnece of just about anyone lost in the world, from sound shinobi, Kabuto, Anko, Sasuke, Kimmaro, Guren, etc. Not only this, his experiments and intelligece has motivated and influenced situations beyond our beliefs.

4) Tsunade- influnced the role of having medical ninja, and this is an important factor for battle and weak/useless shinobi like Sakura and Ino

5) Madara- I would say Tobi, but tbh if people didnt know of him being Madara I doubt he would have had much influence on anything/one.

8) Killer Bee - Taught Naruto how to contorl 9 tails chakra, helping to defeat Tobi, stopped Raikage from killing Naruto, escape from Sasuke stopped Akatsuki from gaining another Bijuu, becames friends with Hachibi who influenced the Kyuubi to change
9) Kabuto - Helped with the war, perfected Edo Tensei, brought Madara back past his prime, powered Zetsu army etc
10) Jiraiya - got info on Pain and Akatsuki, taught Nagato, Yahiko, Naruto, Minato, his book made Nagato change etc

He founded Akatsuki using Madara as an alias, his accomplishments didn't have much to do with the name he gave himself - it was his own actions that led to what happened.

For me it's definetely Orochimaru-from the start of the series he had a huge influence.

He killed the third Hokage, took Sasuke which made Naruto chase after Sasuke for almost the whole manga, has spread his cells all over the cursed people, although being sealed by Itachi he is "reincarnated" as Kabutomaru, he helped Danzo implanting Senju-DNA into his arm, he created Yamato, knew something about Tobi/Madara and Zetsu, first showed Edo Tensei which is now a major role in the war, left a scroll behind that could change the war, etc. ...

Orochimaru has the hugest influence in the manga, others like Hashirama may be stronger but we didn't see him influencing the people that much except giving the villages Bijuu and Konoha the Will of Fire.

I see people have hash and madara in from but honestly i believe its oro. Im not an oro fanboy. The reason i say that he should be on top is because even tho hash and madara were the most powerful. Oro changed the structure of the leaf and the sand by killing both the third and the sands kazekage. Ke changed sasuke. Made naruto a factor by giving him a reason to be stronger. Is the reason kabuto is a main character now. Why danzo had his powers. Without edo there wouldnt be a war. Technically without him taka wouldve never been formed. Sasuke wouldnt have gain the power to kill itachi. Never gaining ems. Giving sasuke no reason to leave the village. So no reason for naruto to train which wouldve never led to naruto meeting bee and learning to control the fox. Without him there woukd be no story

Tobi plays a "pivotal" role here for many people, but particularly Minato and Itachi, such that I wonder if my inclusion of Tobi leads me to leave them out. Without Tobi, Minato and Itachi never play the critical roles of hero, nor do they play the critical roles of shaping the future of the two main characters, Naruto and Sasuke. Thus, I ponder if a list that includes Tobi and also includes Minato/Itachi is just redundant or simply reflects the person's view of that shinobi's singular contribution while accounting for the role of Tobi by taking into account how significant he has been across a number of events. I suppose the same might go for Nagato. Just something that came across my mind, not necessarily correct of course by any means, and I'm curious to peoples' contrasting opinions.

Completely agree with your list. There is nothing to be made there, i guess you should exclude these 5 too, since they're actually the ones that completely influenced the Ninja World.

Excluding them, i would say.

1. Kisame Hoshigaki
Stole Samehada, the most powerful sword of them all. He is also a well-known criminal and was feared of due to him owning the previously mentioned Shark Sword. Managed to escape from Ibiki, kill his comrades so they wouldn't be catched and forced to reveal secrets, kill himself in order to not to reveal his own secrets, and sent Intel to Tobi. If not for Kisame, Yamato would be still on the island.

2. Hiruzen Sarutobi
Being called God of Shinobi is not something every ninja can achieve. We don't know how powerful he actually was in his prime, and sometimes it's even said he was the strongest out of all Kages.

3. Kakashi Hatake
Known around the whole Ninja world as the famous "Copy Ninja" (Zabuza, Itachi, Pain are proof). Mastered 1000 Jutsu, great candidate for next Hokage

4. Tobirama Senju
Created Edo Tensei. Without him Kabuto wouldn't even be important or be able to convince Tobi into forming an alliance with him. The war would be complete different thing than we see now, if not for Tobirama Senju.

5. Kakuzu
For all the money he stole. Because of him everyone in the Naruto world is poor. And we all know that when you have the money, you can screw the rules.

Mostly for being able to use all Five Elements and battling Hashirama with coming back alive out of this mess. That gives him respect.
