no he shouldnt. Gai is a side character, not like naruto and sasuke. it wouldnt make sense if the final bad guy was defeated by gai, when all other significant villains where beaten by naruto, sasuke, or both.

even i think the exact same thing...if that's the case than gai should be the main character from the begining not naruto or sasuke....
