Here's part of a interview that was conducted 2006 in response to SJ asking how he will end it.

Masashi Kishimoto: Yes, I have the last episode
clearly drawn in my mind. I've already decided on
the layout, text, and scenes. Not just the story
ideas, but the visual ideas are solid.

All I have to do is just head toward the ending I
have, but there are still so many things that need
to be resolved before reaching that point.
Maybe I have thrown in too many ideas, so I need to wrap them up neatly.


He planned this fight head to toe since 2006, he has been developing everything to this point.

This battle will be 100% pure planned out, no asspulled improves..

That interview was nearly ten years ago, his views have probably been altered somewhat.

I had also read this, but I didn't know it was THAT long ago.

OT I doubt that WSJ would allow long chapters when they could stretch it out instead. We can always hope, though.
