I saw a thread and it got me thinking...
Who is indeed stronger? Gaara of the sand, The Fifth Kazekage Or Sasuke Uchiha, the last remaining Uchiha
For starters lets look at Defense
Gaara
Said to have the ultimate defense, It was revealed that he does not have to control the sand as the will of his mother does that and provides quite a remarkable defense as seen when Kimimaros Bone spear broke and couldnt get through and when Gaaras Mothers Sand defense was shown. It seems chakra infused sand doesnt get the effects of being heated up (so it "wont turn to glass" -As seen when he blocked amaterasu)
His sand cone and sand shell are jutsus he uses to protect himself. Seen to be really resilient to taijutsu (seen when he fought Lee) and explosives (seen during his fight with deidara)
Sasuke
His main defense is evasion (speed) he is shown to be quite fast (seen during his fight with ITachi) Should his speed not be enough He has Susanoo Which is indeed strong but a flimsy defense (the user could draw them out of susanoo, could approach from underground or with enough force break susanoo)
Sasuke in general is more of an aggro character
my opinion:
Defense goes to Gaara why?
lets look at it from a 360 degree perspective
Gaaras defense is self moving (requiring little from gaara) it protects him from all around and based on the fact gaara can infuse his chakra to crush earths minerals i have to assume gaara could defend if he knew his opponent was underground
Sasuke on the other hand uses speed and evasion his tank defense is flimsy at best as it is mainly offensive
my vote goes to Gaara
Offense
gaara uses his sand as offense. Most commonly used is sand coffin/sand burial in which he restrains his opponent with sand and uses pressure to basically crush them.
He is seem being able to use massive amounts of sand to even change a forest into a desert like battle field and use massive sand burial. His ability to manipulate sand to do anything and even levitate in the air is indeed remarkable.
Sasuke uses Susanoo( sharingan techniques, fire style and lightning style.
Susanoo is a huge automaton made of chakra that fires arrows and can fight based on sasukes whim very fragile defense but one hell of an aggro offense but cost the user massive chakra.
His genjutsu is remarkable as seen when he used it against danzo. fire style mainly seems just a part 1 thing but he can still use it xD the biggest thing is his chidori variants. Mainly being a lightning style user he can use all sorts of chidori attacks and even neutralize earth style.
My opinion
Based off what i have seen they are both remarkable in offense but my edge slightly goes to Sasuke. Gaara uses sand and i have to assume that is an earth style technique, so sasuke has the edge here, The genjustu, susanoo and fire style are all just added bonuses
How i personally feel:
I feel this fight may go to Gaara. Gaara has a way to evade all of sasukes attacks. For chidori he simply levitates out of chidoris range and pelts sasuke with sand. Should sasuke bring out susanoo then gaara just retreats farther back and sasukes demonic bloodlust would keep him in a susanoo state, and we have seen sasuke not be able to keep susnaoo sustained for as long as itachi.
Gaara could also counter susanoo with a massive sand pyramid burial and crush susanoo (this is just speculation as it took Tsunade a bit to crush a rib on susanoo so i only assumke gaaras sand burial is enough pressure to do so)
If sasuke is still in susanoo he can funnel sand underneath sasuke and pin him.
Should the fight take to close combat Gaaras sand shell would have little to know defense against a Chidori however first sasuke would have to get past the massive sand defense.
This is all conjectures i assure you and i apologize for it being hastly written i have work xD
