The Era of Blood - Act 1

He gazed into the murky blackness ahead with dull emerald eyes, a surprising calmness washing over him as he turned to face what destiny had already predetermined.
The soft clatter of feet on water resounded through the dank tunnel, echoing through the darkness like a harbinger of death. The stench of the sewers filled his nostrils as all his senses came alive, his heart beating mercilessly against his chest, almost willing his limbs to move, to run as fast his lithe legs could carry him.
Every stain, every puddle and every smudge of dirt across the cold grainy sewer stone became visible to him like never before at that moment, along with the thought that he would die in such a pathetically pitiful place brought bile to his mouth.
And yet Kakashi stood vigilant, determined to face his fate head on. There would be no more running for him, no more avoiding his demons, he would fight as a true warrior should and face his death with cold steel.
A bead of sweat sprinkled with inklings of blood snaked its way down his cheek as he balled his fists and clenched his teeth, his fierce yellow hair matted down with sweat and grime.
The sound of footsteps grew ever louder as each painful second passed, the darkness shifting and turning, readying itself to present the demon it held within. Kakashi steadied himself, for he knew what was coming. He knew what had been hunting him through cities and sewers alike for the past three weeks, he knew what faced him, and he knew he stood no chance.
And yet, the blonde couldn't help but smile. This was far from the death he had envisioned for himself, lacking the war torn battlefield and the sounds of comrades beside him.
Nevertheless Kakashi waited patiently, his emerald eyes gazing at the darkness. It seemed like hours had passed before a hooded figure finally emerged through the blanket of murky darkness, a large, almost ethereal scythe balanced across the being’s back.
It’s hood obscured the creatures face with an unnatural shadow whilst it’s robe covered the rest of its body leaving only a pair of pale, thin hands visible to the outside world.
A raspy voice spoke out, tearing at the blonde’s ears and bringing forth an intense feeling of nausea, “Kakashi Hyomaru, submit your soul to judgement…” demanded the being.
The blonde scoffed at the idea as he willed the bile back down his throat, he would be a disgrace to the name Hyomaru should he choose to die with even an ounce of energy still left in his veins.
Completely ignoring the creatures demands, Kakashi positioned himself as he had done a thousand times before, raising his right fist whilst bringing his left to his back and bending his knee to attain a stance he had mercilessly practiced day after day for the last thirteen years. If he were to die, the least he could do was go out fighting as a true Hyomaru would.
Without so much as a whisper, Kakashi charged towards his opponent with a ball of sparkling blue electricity surging through his fist, his keen eyes taking in every detail about the creature’s weapon. As expected, the being raised its scythe and brought it down in a circular sweeping motion, grazing Kakashi across the knee as the blonde leaped above the deathly arc to deliver a bolt of lightning induced energy into the being’s chest.
However, the attack did nothing to harm, not to mention stop the creature. A shadowy blanket of darkness began to creep up his arm as Kakashi pulled his hand out through the creature’s chest; the large gaping hole formed by the blonde’s strike slowly repairing itself as shards of black covered it once again, as it had done several times before.
The creature swung its blade once again, missing by mere inches as Kakashi regained his balance and barreled backwards. None of his strikes worked on it though he was sure a strike through the heart would have felled it, and to make matters worse, he was drastically low on essence. He had neither the strength nor the willpower for a prolonged fight.
He had only one option left to him. Pulling out his blade, Kakashi summoned every ounce of energy he could to his legs and arms, his eyes closed as he concentrated the energy before diving into a furious assault on the being, shredding through its robe with an almost animalistic vigor as he attempted to tear the being to pieces before relenting and retreating.
The creature however seemed unaffected, or even unaware that it had been struck, its lithe form slowly continuing its silent march through the dank sewer water towards its unwilling prey as the various gashes across its body faded into darkness.
Kakashi could feel the strain on his body as he fell to one knee, the last of his energy draining away. At the back of his mind he could feel the weight of his father pressing on him, demanding that he not fail and besmirch the Hyomaru name. However, Kakashi hadn't the energy left to care, his limbs slowly going numb as the strain of his assault took its toll. "I'm sorry mother...father, it seems.....I've failed your sacrifice..."
Was this the end, hmph, how anti-climactic. Despite wanting to go out with a bang, the blonde hadn't even the energy to light a spark.
‘Heh…..well…..this is it……for me….” muttered Kakashi as he closed his eyes and let the melodious call of unconsciousness take him far from his dismal reality.

Yo! This here is my very first original story! I've finally gotten off my lazy bum to do this....go me! xd Anyways, no, this isn't a Naruto fanfic. The only thing from Naruto here is the name Kakashi which I've used for my character here...and the fact that he uses lightning based attacks...Kakashi is awesome!
Helpful critiques are requested.....no....they are demanded! Next chap up in a while which basically means whenever I feel like it xd
