I've been thinking about the ending lately. When I read it I was kind of sick of Naruto and was just glad that it wasn't crap. Now I've seen some earlier episodes again and read some of the early manga, and my interest in Naruto is back.

Some things really bother me with the ending. First of all, who cares about a hokage summit? That is the most uninteresting way ever to end the series. I know they put it in so we could see the other kage successors but I personally didn't care that much about them. We have the skyscrapers as well which is so retarded that I'm not going to address that.

I don't really mind the children, even if some of them look creepy as hell. But the need to show the individualism of every children of every character from the original genin felt forced.

I don't like that Bolt is like young Naruto. It goes against the very think that Naruto was acting out because he was alone.

Naruto and Hinata never talk. Couldn't they at least say hi to each other or something? A "welcome home from work" to make their marriage look even remotely believable?

The way I see it you can do an epilogue in two ways. The vague one with a narrative and the more detailed one with full closure. This was somewhere in between, and didn't nail either one. They tried to give full closure, but in order to do that the epilogue would have to be way longer, and more about the interactions between family and old friends.

If they would go with the vague narrative epilogue they should have showed us when Naruto became hokage. The entire epilogue would build up towards the "coronation" of Naruto. Everyone is talking about it. We see all the characters, and their kids sure, but it not that much about showing off the personality of every kid, and more about everyones reaction of Naruto becoming hokage this day. It would be a happy, everyone is together for a big event, kind of epilogue.

An epilogue is important since that is the last we will [probably] see of the characters. If we see that Naruto and Hinata have kids, but never talk, we think that they probably don't have the best marriage. If we see that Narutos son is exactly like young Naruto we will believe that Naruto is a bad father, or that mischief is in the genes and not due to feeling alone. A vagueness in the epilogue would make us imagine these things ourself. But if it is explicitly shown, like in the ending, we need more than just 20 messy pages.

But those are just my thoughts

Kishimoto said in an interview he wanted to end the series with Naruto's son playing pranks, so he did that for a reason. Everything else you stated is pretty bland in terms of the ending, like who cares about how people interacted? Most of the pairings in this manga barely have had conversations with each-other that involve a simple hello and goodbye, or just talk for a while.

The real mysterious are plot driven, and those are not.

Why wouldn't you care? Interactions show you what the characters are like, what they think about each other

Because pairing development always lacked in this manga my friend, and I feel indifferent towards your post because it as if you are bashing Naruto and Hinata especially, and yet they have had conversations with each-other, and/or cared about each-other. Despite the lack of romantic development needed, I assume a large amount of people thought their relationship would happen and it looks more believable to me, I mean the Last did a pretty good job showing them as parents in the end.

They never talk in the epilogue. And the Last doesn't matter, it should all be in the manga. I'm definitely not bashing Naruto and Hinata. I just wanted to see them at least smile to each other in the epilogue to make it look real.

That's why I don't understand your post at all. Because where was Sasuke or Sakura's talk in the epilogue, Shikamaru or Temari's, hell where was Choji and Karui's interactions at all in the manga?

If that's how you want it to go, it is canon so I take it below the manga.

I already responded to you in a pm but here we go. Naruto is the main character, it's his story. That is why I only talked about Naruto and Hinata. Every pair in the epilogue showed zero chemistry, but it doesn't matter because they can't go into detail with every single relation. Just Narutos

a kage meeting was the best way to really make an impactful showing that Naruto finally reached his dream of being Hokage and is being acknowledged by everyone in the world. I loved that it ending with him going to a kage meeting.
