ChernobylWell, we will never run out of energy if we shift to nuclear energy; but I don't know why the **** people are afraid from nuclear energy.
Why did you stop?
Stopped here
"If you recycle the waste, the final waste that is left over decays to harmlessness within a few hundred years, rather than a million years as with standard (unrecycled) nuclear waste. This page explains how this interesting process is possible."
"We should stop using ships because of the Titanic incident."Chernobyl
You asked why people are scared of nuclear energy, you got your answer. Got more smartass comments in your handy dandy notebook?"We should stop using ships because of the Titanic incident."
* IKR, With so many power plants, ecological foot print and space demands we have all the space in the world to have "isolated wastelands to store substances big enough to power 7 billion people's realities" :|Why did you stop?
Nuclear decays are of the order of millions of years so shortening it to a few hundred years is good.
And it's not like it's thrown into your neighborhood trash can; it's completely isolated so the radioactive particles and rays are completely suppressed.
Yeah; and I commented on that answer, like you would expect people to do on a bulletin board. You asked why people are scared of nuclear energy, you got your answer. Got more smartass comments in your handy dandy notebook?

* Tell me how easy it is to handle nuclear reactions, with tip toe precision for daily living having minimal mistakes...
* And yeah it will be really awesome to have material usable as weapons to be daily transported as country power sources

[COLOR="FF000"]Yeah; and I commented on that answer, like you would expect people to do on a bulletin board.
You didn't need to be this edgy.
- Haha, no. The nuclear waste is not that big relative to the amount of energy it generates; as compared to other energy sources.
- Nuclear reactors are not that dangerous; engineers know what they are doing. Media just spreads hoaxes.
- Not an argument. Guns are misused too, doesn't mean they stop selling it.

• The same was said about coal etc at the start of civilization, i.e. If it's not renewable and it needs waste dump land, stomp treating its limit as infinity because it can easily run shortage: coal/oil was thought to be almost unfinishable at the start of civilization, it brought something that was not calculated(global warming) before they even "faced any shortages of it", and I am sure you know how many bodies die everyday in the name of oil. Therefore many times troublesome non calculated problems might rise to nuclear energy like in coal.
• Coal and Oil Plants explode yearly with horrible damages to oceans etc because they are so common, now nuclear energy is taken with more care because of its low number of facilities. Increase the of those plants to be a daily supplier you will end facing something Much worse that what oil spills etc cause..
• I am sure a rouge country with guns is = in danger with a rouge country having nuclear weapons

I think you're overrating a bit. A certain percentage of energy generated by 1st world countries come from nuclear power, its not as far far fetched as you think it is. You're taking a very cynical perspective on this, but the pros out way the cons. Of course if a nuclear waste spill were to happen the after effects would be devastating, but they're far and in between. The last two major nuclear power waste leaks were Chernobyl and the 2011 Nuclear power plant leak after a Tsunami. This is compared to the several oil spills that we've had within the past decade.* IKR, With so many power plants, ecological foot print and space demands we have all the space in the world to have "isolated wastelands to store substances big enough to power 7 billion people's realities" :|

That's why it's important to get a POTUS and a policy that pushes more advanced energy sources now. Imagine when the time comes of the event of this thread, and the USA have already become the front runners of that said resource. It will prove to be the economical output of our future generations :axedance:One day the earth will run out of oil. And gas prices will soar, anarchy will ensue, and wars could possibly be fought over oil deposits. In our life time we will probably go from space travel to 18th-19th century style of living.
Scary huh? Are any of you guys prepared for it?
