First, let's compare Hagoromo, Obito, and Madara in their Juubi Jin mode:

1) Hagoromo:

You can see that he has 9 Gudōdama+staff, his staff has both ends that Obito and Madara had which I will call Yin-Yang ends. Please carefully notice the rinnegan-like mark on his back.

(BTW, the way he handles the staff is interesting as he switches between both ends as he talks with Naruto. Re-read chapter 670 as you might notice something I didn't catch.)

Also it's interesting that he had that staff before he became a Juubi Jin:

2) Obito:

As you can see, he has 9 Gudōdama+the Yang portion of the staff. The mark on his back is different from Hagoromo's and it shows what seems to be a Tomoe around a rinnegan.

3) Madara:

He has 9 Gudōdama+the Yin portion of the staff. The mark on his back looks the same as Hagoromo's.

Though, this scan made me wonder about the staff that Madara has:

Hagoromo is portrayed here with the Yang only part of the staff so what does that imply about madara having only the Yin-part?

4) Let me add Naruto here for comparison. Notice how the mark he has on his back is different from the rest in that it doesn't have the small lines on the sides like Madara and Hagoromo and neither has the Tomoe-like mark around the rinnegan like Obito.

Here's something else that I noticed. The rinnegan mark on Madara's back keeps changing for one reason or another:

a) Notice how the mark on Madara's back when he first became a Jin is the same as the one Hagoromo has:

b) After Obito took out a small part of each of the 1-tail and the 8-tails, the mark became very similar to the one Obito had (Zoom in to the mark):

c) After he lost 8 of his damas and his staff and was left with 1 dama, the mark becomes like the one Naruto has:

I tried to find one of Kaguya's because I suspect she has one too but couldn't.

Personally, I think that the mark on the back signifies how complete the power the user is wielding because the fact that Madara's changed twice confused me. I doubt it's a drawing mistake because Kishi repeated it more than once.

What do you think this means?

I think Naruto's markings signify a weaker variant hence why after Madara lost some beasts power, his marks resembled Naruto's marks.
Madara, upon initially becoming the jin for Jyubi was the closest to being complete, hence why it resembled Hagoromo's markings

Thanks everyone!

I wonder if he can make more truth seeking balls.

I doubt he can. He never was able to bring back the ones Minato and Kakashi teleported away.

Also, the staff is probably special. It's not a part of the Gudodama set and that may explain why Naruto doesn't have it.

That's what I'm thinking. However, the mark didn't immediately become like Naruto's. It went from Hagormo>Obito>Naruto.

Perhaps this is the reason why he's having so much trouble against Naruto and Sasuke despite them only having half the power of Hagoromo each.

After being weakened by both Obito and Minato, he was probably brought down to Naruto's current level without realizing it. (Except the Rinnegan ofcourse)

In other words, his Juubi power might've been brought down to Naruto's current level and his Rinnegan seems weaker than Sasuke's.

Being weakened to the point were he's only slightly stronger than them. Taking them both at once would give him this much trouble.

Im probably wrong though.
