Thanks. :) And I am took my name from here : :) Not quoting everything to prevent stretching.

You first say that the Three spirals are Sun, Moon and Void. They together form the Kotoakatsumi. But then you say that the Void existed before Creation and from Creation was formed three gods, i.e; the Kotoakatsumi. That confused me. Lol I would assume in total, there are four forces :-

Yin (Sun,Physical), Yang (Moon,Spiritual), Shizen (Star,Nature/Cosmic) and Void (Tomoe).

Also, in the Last, someone said that Naruto was able to use Sage Mode (Which requires Natural Energy by the way) in outer space on the Moon. This proves Kuruma's statements that Nature Energy exists throughout the Universe and a better word for it would be Cosmic Energy.

Orochimaru being the Final Villain of Part 3 has been pretty much confirmed :-

Quoting some old posts :-

One :-

Two :-

And some knowledge of Gold : Never trust a snake. Lol
Daybreaker has his doubts. Orochimaru was in IT. LOL. For a "big" villain how did he turn into a fodder?

You need to realize that when Orochimaru was first revived, he clearly showed no interest in the war to throw off suspicion from him.

You must be registered for see images

Notice how casually he says that, even though Orochimaru was the prime suspect for manipulating the three most important figures of the War : Kabuto (Orochimaru indirectly controlled him), Obito/Tobi (Kabuto used Edo Madara as blackmail under Orochimaru's control) and Black Zetsu (Co-operating with Kabuto to give Madara's corpse to use for Edo Tensei). (Read Previous posts)

When IT is casted, Orochimaru does fall under it, but there is a possibility that he tried to bide his time till Kaguya's revival. Notice the Rinnesharingan (It's not Sharrinnegan by the way) reflecting on Orochimaru's eyes.

You must be registered for see images

He was perhaps not able to act because Kaguya switched dimensions along with Team 7 ruining his plans. Orochimaru had no way to penetrate Kaguya's dimensions and as far as Hagoromo goes, he was off limits for Orochimaru. (I find it funny that Orochimaru never met Hagoromo even though the Four Edo Kages were Edo-Tenseid by him Lol )

When IT breaks apart, we see that Orochimaru has a very annoyed look on his face as if whatever he had planned failed catastrophically. This was also the last time we saw him in Part 2.

annoyed face? that is stretching. He doesn't look annoyed. He looks relieved as if he just woke up from a pleasant dream.

I don't think it suits Orochimaru's character to stretch or be relieved after a long dream (Unless it was a Pedo Sasuke Dream Lol ). He would have a normal expression or would have smiled that IT finally broke apart (If he was on Shinobi's side). Instead we get a face which clearly shows that he is annoyed/In deep thought over his plans.

Yes, they are similar and both show annoyance. Considering that panel of Orochimaru was his last appearance in Part 2, it's a given that Kishi would have focused a lot on it. Also, Orochimaru is in the Foreground to capture the Reader's attention and make him/her think "Why is he not smiling ? Lol " whereas Kabuto, Jugo and Suigetsu are in the background.

Kabuto has a suspicious look as if he suspects Orochimaru of something while Suigetsu and Jugo are completely indifferent as thier characters. Lol

I wonder though why Karin was not shown, Suigetsu and Jugo seem to be concerned over something, could it be Karin ? What happened to her ?

I don't know about this, I inspected a few panels and studied them closely after my above discussion and I reached a shocking revelation Lol . Now, generally, I would pass this off as over thinking, but considering the huge amount of attention and symbolism that Kishi slips in his manga, I think this could possibly be logical ?

The Rinnesharingan's Light

When Mugen Tsukuyomi is first casted, Everyone is Orochimaru's group except Tobirama falls under it. Now while this might not be a big incident considering Kaguya's revival minutes later, a close study of the panels shows otherwise.

You must be registered for see images

This is the positioning of the characters that I am concerned with.

You must be registered for see images

Tobirama - Silver Box.
Kabuto - Blue Box.
Karin - Red Box
Jugo - Orange Box
Suigetsu - Green Box
Orochimaru - Purple Box

Tobirama leaves the scene after Kaguya gets revived and realizes that Madara has Disappeared. This leaves us with Kabuto, Suigetsu, Orochimaru, Jugo and Karin in that area.

You must be registered for see images

When Mugen Tsukuyomi is casted, The Rinnesharingan on the Moon emits a Light/Glare.

You must be registered for see images

This light comes down from the sky as a ray here. The Purple circle.

You must be registered for see images

Suspiciously this is the same spot where Orochimaru moves to/is at when Mugen Tsukuyomi dissolves. He is in front Of Kabuto when he should be at the Left of Kabuto. The Ray of Light from the Moon was in front of Kabuto.

Positioning of Orochimaru after dissolution of Mugen Tsukuyomi in front of Kabuto.

Ray of Light in front of Kabuto.

The Original Positioning as they got caught in Mugen Tsukuyomi.

When The Shinju traps it's victims under Mugen Tsukuyomi, it incapacitates them and makes them unable to move as Minato himself gives testimony and even Hinata refers to it.

Minato :-

Hinata :-

You must be registered for see images

It seems Orochimaru broke out of Mugen Tsukuyomi (If he couldn't break out, how did he move ?) and did something to Karin (Just beside Kabuto) as she did not wake up after Mugen Tsukuyomi broke apart. This causes Jugo and Suigetsu to go and check her condition and we also see Kabuto's suspicious look at Orochimaru.

You must be registered for see images

We see Orochimaru looking Skywards at the Moon. And Perhaps glancing at Kabuto's suspicious look.

You must be registered for see images

This is the movement of the characters after Mugen Tsukuyomi dissolved.

You must be registered for see images

So why is Orochimaru looking at the Moon ? What's the true reason ? I will try to explain why. When Madara casted Mugen Tsukuyomi, I believe he casted it from the First Moon of NV.

You must be registered for see images

The First Moon of NV is where the Original Daemonic Juubi which consisted of Shinju, Kaguya and The Demon was sealed away by Hagoromo and Hamura.

You must be registered for see images

When Mugen Tsukuyomi was casted from the First Moon, The Sealed Daemonic energy of the Juubi got released (Only some, not all of it).

You must be registered for see images

And came down as rays of Light (Note Madara's Daemonic Expression).

You must be registered for see images

Orochimaru was having a sun bath of Daemonic Energy, literally. Lol

Kaguya's Duality

Here, I will be making a close study of the Manga Panels concerning Kaguya from the Beginning to the End showing her duality in personality. These two extents of her personality and the sudden changes in personality show that Kaguya was being controlled by The Demon.

Kaguya's kindness shown on being revived. (Kaguya)

You must be registered for see images

Kaguya's hatred on seeing the Seals. (Demon)

You must be registered for see images

"It's Hagoromo who gave you those techniques/seals". This raises the question as to where is Hamura's Techniques ? As I theorized before, Hamura's Star Seal was not present there.

Kaguya/Juubi was sealed by both Hagoromo and Hamura.

Kaguya's Kindness for the Earth. (Kaguya)

Kaguya shows her remorse. (Kaguya)

Black Zetsu under the influence of the Demon twists the story by making Kabuto into a Puupet, even though it was the opposite. Black Zetsu co-operated with Kabuto under Orochimaru's control (The Demon) to blackmail Obito. (Demon)

Kaguya gives a sorrowful look as she realizes that Obito has Low chakra and would die stopping her. (Kaguya)

Kaguya hesitating at killing Naruto for she wants him to live, until Kaguya submits to the Demon. (Kaguya/Demon)

Black Zetsu is overjoyed at Naruto's fake death. His daemonic smile shows the Demon's control. (Black Zetsu/Demon)

You must be registered for see images

Kaguya gives a sorrowful look at Obito's approaching Death. (Kaguya)

You must be registered for see images

Black Zetsu under the Demon's control gives a gleeful smile. (Demon)

Kaguya giving in into the Demon again as she adopts the Snake Genjutsu Pose. (Demon)

Kaguya gives an intense look of pain and sorrow as she gets hit by Kakashi's Kamui Raikiri. (Kaguya)

You must be registered for see images

Kaguya thinking about Ashura (Naruto). (Kaguya)

You must be registered for see images

The Demon is shocked at it's Defeat. (Demon)

You must be registered for see images

Now, this pretty much shows that Kaguya and even to an extent Black Zetsu were controlled by an evil entity, The Demon. A final point that I would like to raise is that The Gedo Mazou is not Kaguya's Shell/Body. This reasoning is supported by two points.

Point - A : Kaguya, the Rabbit separates from the Gedo Mazou when the sealing activates instead of staying inside the Gedo Mazou hinting that the Gedo Mazou is not Kaguya's body.

You must be registered for see images

Point - B : Black Zetsu used Madara's body as a vessel to revive Kaguya. Why did he not use the Gedo Mazou if it was Kaguya's body ?

You must be registered for see images

Hope you liked the theory ! :)

Hello Rabbit teth.

Kishimoto drew parallels:

Can you explain those or give them more depth?

Hey Davidou,

Ah sure… well, at least I can give it a try. There’s a lot of stuff I can talk about regarding the importance or possible importance of certain colours. It’s probably something of an oversimplification to draw up a colour chart and allocate meanings without context. In certain circumstances colour can add an extra layer of meaning that is not always obvious. A lot of the imagery that Kishi draws upon is religious in origin and colour is often used to convey specific meanings in religious art. Here are some collected ideas on what colours might be important and why. I'll do a follow up on some other colours that I think are important (Black and Blue) next time.

ROY - G - BIV Part 1
Some people dismiss colour as something completely unimportant in Naruto. Maybe they’re right, colour should really have no importance in a monochrome manga whatsoever. Even in Black and White though, Kishi still manages to insert a lot of symbolism into his colour scheme. Sometimes specific colour choices are purely stylistic, other times they hold deep religious significance – mostly I think it depends on the context whether a colour is important or not.

Orange / Dark Blue or Purple
Before I get into the Yin and Yang intricacies I’ll cover some of the basic reasons why Naruto and Sasuke mostly wear Orange and Dark Blue. Sasuke has been less consistent in Naruto in the colours he wears. Mostly Sasuke is pictured in dark blue but in the Anime his Susanoo is shown as being purple. The original design for his Susanoo in the Manga was actually Dark Blue. Particular shades are not that important but these two colours do tie in with a lot of their family history.

In interviews Masashi Kishimoto has gone on record as saying he chose Orange as Naruto’s main colour because it made his character pop on the page. Kishi tends to try lots of ideas, keep the ones that work and discard the ones that don’t. Orange suits Naruto even though the colour is probably the least practical thing an actual Ninja would wear.

The colour Orange is an integral part of the character from start to finish. Naruto’s Parents each had their own primary colours. His father was known as the yellow flash:
You must be registered for see images
While his mother was known as the Tomato or the Red Hot Habanero (a red chilli):
You must be registered for see images
From the time of his birth Naruto has had Kurama (the Nine Tailed Demon Fox) sealed within him. If you’ve ever seen a fox (I’ve got a family of them in my backyard at the moment) then you’ll know their distinctive orange and black coat:
You must be registered for see images
Orange Kurama
You must be registered for see images
Kishi himself probably just likes the colour and it’s worth noting that Jio Freed from 666 Satan (the comic written by his twin brother before Naruto) also wears the same colour combo:
You must be registered for see images
Sasuke’s Dark Blue probably has something to do with his belonging to a clan tasked with being the village police force:
You must be registered for see images
Police forces the world over tend to wear Dark Blue. The idea of a police force was started in France but the standard Dark Blue uniform was first introduced in London for the Metropolitan Police. When Sir Robert Peel first established the Metropolitan Police a committee decided that Dark Blue was a suitable colour for their uniform. The thinking behind this decision was to distinguish a civilian police force from martial law (where the army controls the streets). The British Army at the time wore Bright Red and so Dark Blue was seen as less intimidating for the public.
Peeler (an old term for a policeman … so called because of Sir Robert Peel)
You must be registered for see images
Sasuke’s Susanoo was originally displayed as Blue or Dark Blue in the Manga
You must be registered for see images
Over time Purple has been adopted for Sasuke’s Susanoo in the Anime but there’s not really all that much of a difference in appearance.

I tend to think that the colours chosen for Naruto and Sasuke also underline a religious message about Yin and Yang that has been developed throughout the manga. Neither Orange nor Dark Blue / Purple on their own hold any religious significance but when Naruto and Sasuke are juxtaposed with each other then you should start to see a Yin Yang theme being developed within the manga connecting Sasuke to Yin and Naruto to Yang.

Yin and Yang represent a philosophy about the natural order in the world encompassing a variety of extremes that only exist in relation to one another. Originally they were used to describe Night (Yin) and Day (Yang). In China the two principle heavenly bodies, the Sun and Moon, are referred to as Taiyang and Taiyin (“Tai” meaning great). There is no scientific basis for Yin or Yang but as a philosophy the two concepts are used to provide a framework for helping to understand the world (at least that’s how I understand them … I don’t follow the Tao / Buddhism so maybe I’m not the best person to explain them).

Naruto and Sasuke as the heirs to Asura and Indra have each taken on the mantles of Yang and Yin:

You may not have picked up on it but over time Kishi has been using subliminal messages in the manga so that we associate Naruto with sunlight:

and his Chakra is Warm:

… While Sasuke always seems to be walking off into the dark:

Throughout the series you may have noticed how various pairs of characters have been juxtaposed with each other within the framework of Yin and Yang. Occasionally characters are superimposed with the Imagery of the Yin Yang Symbol (the Taijitu)…

Orange and Dark Blue reinforce this imagery when used to represent Naruto and Sasuke. Orange is a warm bright colour, Dark Blue and Purple are Cold ones. This has very little to do with their actual temperature and more to do with our colour associations. We tend to associate bright colours with the daytime and darker colours with nighttime. If you spend too much time out in the sun or get too close to fire you’ll burn and turn red, if you freeze to death your body turns blue and your lips purple – I wouldn’t advise testing it out though.

These associations have very little to do with actual temperature and more to do with day to day experience. If you look at the temperature of flames and stars then the opposite is actually true but for most of human history nobody would have ever seen a blue flame.

As far as the spectrum goes the dividing line lies somewhere in Green – which can be either warm or cold or neither. Red, Orange and Yellow are considered Warm, while Blue, Indigo and Violet are considered Cold. Go searching on google and it’s easy to find color wheels displaying the basic division:
Warm / Cold Colour Wheel

Kishi seems to frame important pairs of characters such that they evoke a sense of being two halves of a whole. The moral of the story isn’t that one is necessariy bad and the other good but that these two forces when working together can achieve great things but when they fall into conflict terrible destruction can ensue. This is the message of Hagoromo’s Tablet:
You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images
Black Zetsu, on the Demon’s behest (at least that’s the theory I’m developing – I can’t say for certain whether it’ll end up being the case), sought a different vision where such pairings would fight each other to the death for dominance. The Uchiha were/are not inherently evil. They have just been led down the wrong path by outside forces:
You must be registered for see images
In short I don’t think it’s entirely accurate to say that Orange=Yang and Purple=Yin but given the right context and when framed in the right way I think Kishi does use these colours to evoke the forces Naruto and Sasuke are said to wield. These are not the easiest concepts to grasp … nobody is supposed to fully understand the Tao, it is said to elude any kind of comprehensive definition … also I could be entirely wrong but this is how I would interpret Kishi’s Yin Yang Colour Scheme.
Pink
Sakura’s pink hair is easier to explain. Her name is Sakura. Sakura is a type of plant also known as Cherry Blossom. When the Cherry Blossom blooms in Japan it is a big event every year (something I’d really like to see some day).
Sakura Real Life

The Pink hue of the plant in blossom is enough on it’s own to explain Sakura’s hair colour, however it might also provide a connection to Kaguya and her descendants on Asura’s branch of the family tree. Sakura for instance might be another of those distant relations to the Senju just like the Uzumaki are. Pink Hair is not that far from Red Hair, pink is really just a shade of red after all.

Sakura has two other possible connections to the Senju and Uzumaki. She picked up a technique passed down the Uzumaki to Tsunade (a quarter Senju and a quarter Uzumaki) very quickly. Maybe she had a natural affinity for using it – Shizune is one of the most skilled Jonin around and she couldn’t manage it:

I say that the Yin seal might be a gender specific technique also in part because Hashirama has the opposing mark on his forehead when he activates Sage Mode and he is described as only being able to use Yang…

You must be registered for see images
If the women of the clan inherit Yin then the men might inherit Yang – at least that’s my thinking. Which brings me to Sakura’s second connection to the Senju Clan. That mark on Hashirama’s forehead is also the Clan Symbol for the Haruno Clan (Sakura’s Clan).
You must be registered for see images
Sakura’s pink hair might indicate that Sakura comes from one of the branch families on Asura’s side of the heirs to the Ootsutsuki. Senju are not necessarily the only clan to have been born of Asura’s loins. Asura came from the Ootsutsuki clan. We don’t know whether Asura started the Senju clan himself or whether lots of clans emerged from his ancestors. The Uzumaki, the Akimichi Clan, the Haruno Clan, Gaara’s Clan and the Senju might all be legitimate heirs to Hagoromo and his younger son if red hair is at all important.
Purple
This is one of the two main colours of Hinata. I’ll get to the meaning of Hinata and the Hyuuga Clan’s White Eyes in due course (White Eyes being the literal meaning of Byakugan) but for now I thought I’d dip into a bit of History to explain the importance of Purple (and not the Dark Blue variety of Sasuke). Both in the Anime and the Manga Hinata tends to wear purple (or lavender as the Wiki puts it)
You must be registered for see images

You must be registered for see images
When we finally get to see Hinata’s Chakra manifest during Naruto: The Last her natural chakra colour reveals itself to be Purple
You must be registered for see images
In Hinata’s case this purple is probably intended to be a reflection of her Royalty. Purple is traditionally the colour of extreme wealth and status – all around the world including in Japan. In the Roman Empire, you could measure a man’s status by the amount of purple he wore. The wealthy and senior officials (senators, generals…) would wear a Toga called a Toga Picta that was mostly purple with a gold trim (the gold was the cheap part), while the Emperor and any statues to gods would be dressed in an all purple toga called a Toga Trabea.

In the time before synthetic dyes, purple cloth was extremely expensive to manufacture. In order to capture the colour purple, thousands of special snails or shellfish needed to be collected, then each creature had a tiny gland surgically removed and these glands were then mashed together to produce the colour. This was ridiculously time consuming, labourious and most of all expensive. Snails are extremely small and hard to farm while Togas were made from very large pieces of cloth). In Japan too, purple is associated with wealth and power, probably for similar reasons.
Toga (for those who don’t know what I’m talking about)

The proof of Hinata’s Royalty though is in her White Eyes, which I’ll try to explain in due course. The White of the Hyuuga’s Eyes ties into a goddess who deserves closer inspection, but first I’ll tackle the importance of White to Orochimaru.
Milky White
Orochimaru is the one who is associated with the Void, not Hinata. The Void is Orochimaru’s Ring in Akatsuki and it’s something that has it’s own significance which I go into in an earlier post (page 9 – The Downward Spirals). The Void has little or nothing to do with Hinata or the Hyuuga as far as I’m aware.

White is important to Orochimaru for other reasons. It is the colour of his skin, it is the colour of the symbol for his bodyguards and it is the colour of a substance he amasses in his own personal dimension. This White could be characterized as Milky White for reasons I’ll get into as opposed to the Pure White of Kaguya’s Eyes and her descendants. I think this colour connects Orochimaru to the Juubi Jinchuuriki throughout the generations and to the army of White Zetsu.

Orochimaru’s White Skin is distinctly white, almost unhealthily white. This being a Black and White manga it is next to impossible to tell when a character is “white” as in Caucasian (which is really closer to pink) or “white” in the sense of an A4 sheet of paper. Naruto may as well be Caucasian with his blond hair and blue eyes. Orochimaru is white like a sheet of paper. The Juubi is the same variety of white and each of the Juubi Jinchuuriki that we’ve met so far (Kaguya, Madara and Obito) have all shifted to white when they absorb the Juubi:
Kaguya

Obito was white like a sheet of paper from the moment he absorbed the Juubi:

…and at a minimum Madara’s hair bleached from after he absorbed the Gedo Mazo and all nine Bijuu:

There seems to be a colour shift in characters who absorb the cursed chakra and are unable to control it. It’s unclear what happened shortly before Hagoromo died but it would seem from Tobi’s account that Hagoromo too started to lose control of the Juubi’s chakra and I would expect this to have been reflected by a change in Hagoromo’s appearance shortly before the end…(Hagoromo’s death hasn’t been shown yet but I expect it to be shown in Part 3)
Hagoromo’s struggle:

This shade of white is sinister. The colour reflects the Chakra of the Juubi and the White Zetsu that are made from it. It or They are made from the bodies of dead ninja who have been killed and consumed so as to grow the Juubi’s chakra (Little Shop of Horrors style). This is what White Zetsu is made from:

This White Chakra is what Hagoromo took from his mother and reformed into the Bijuu. Kurama is made from the same stuff as White Zetsu but with Hagoromo and Naruto’s help, this chakra was reforged into the bijuu we know today:

Orochimaru is connected to this chakra. We don’t know for certain how or why yet but his immortality is reliant on it. Orochimaru does not have a body to speak of. He transfers into the bodies of others and uses them until they get worn out or until he finds a better vessel. Any injuries he suffers are sustained by his host. When Orochimaru gets his face burnt off by Sasuke, his arm chopped off by Itachi or his body ripped in two by Naruto – these are of little impediment to the immortal Snake:

All that happens when Orochimaru gets knocked about is that his host’s body gets worn down until it’s time to move onto the next more powerful body:

I think that he might have started transferring bodies during the time of the Shinju. The orphan he grew up as in Konoha might just have been another host – former hosts in Orochimaru’s Dimension

Orochimaru inhabits bodies by means of transmigration, something that only Indra and Asura do besides Orochimaru:
You must be registered for see images
The Transmigration Ritual that Orochimaru uses to transfer bodies reveals a dimension full of the same material that White Zetsu is made out of. This sea is a sea of souls:
You must be registered for see images
This sea of souls is something that comes from Hindu beliefs in Shesha – the Snake God or Prince of the Naga who serves as the counterpart to Brahma. Where Brahma is credited with creation, Shesha periodically destroys everything so that it can be built anew. This rather strange relationship is depicted with a lot of arresting iconography that Kishi borrows from – this is Shesha and Brahma on the Sea of Milk (source of the elixir of life for the gods)

Here is Vasuki (a different Naga) being used by Indra (Prince of the gods or Deva) and the Asuras (a race of animal spirits or gods) to churn the sea of milk in order to extract the Elixir of Life (the key to immortality for the gods and what Orochimaru covets):

In short the Milky White of Orochimaru, the Juubi Jinchuuriki and White Zetsu represents the immortality of the gods. We have only just been introduced to a family of gods - the family of Kaguya – and I imagine we have much to learn about their history in Part 3 or future movies. Orochimaru appears to be related to this family in one way or another. Depending on which stories Kishi borrows from (there are many variations to choose from), I imagine Orochimaru could end up being revealed as either Kaguya’s father (the King of the Ootsutsuki) or her husband (the father of Hagoromo and Hamura). I would rule out Orochimaru actually being Hamura since we finally got to meet him in Naruto: The Last and he’s not evil as far as I can tell.

This brings me to the Symbol of the Sound Five, Orochimaru’s elite bodyguard, as seen in the symbol on Kimimaro’s tunic:

This symbol represents Yang devoid of Yin
You must be registered for see images
This might essentially be what makes up the White Zetsu. They are essentially reconstituted bodies. Yang traditionally represents the body in contrast to Yin, which represents the Spirit. The White Zetsu could simply be characterized as digested dead bodies refined into pure Yang – we’ll have to wait for part 3 to learn more and find out for certain though...

The Yin Yang symbol with just Yang with no Yin apparently represents a world out of balance. Yin and Yang are supposed to work in harmony. This symbol according to the wiki represents nature out of order. This fits with Hagoromo’s message to his sons (see above) of getting opposing forces to work together in contrast to what Madara and Indra attempted which was the conquest of one force over the other. This vision of nature gone awry is illustrated by Madara’s rebirth and the Hashiboob, which was the handiwork of Kabutorochimaru (Obito’s Partner):

Pure White
I distinguish pure white from milky white because I think the meaning behind the colour of the Byakugan is entirely different to the meaning behind Orochimaru / the Juubi Jinc / White Zetsu’s pasty skin. Even though you’d be right to think that white is white, the meaning that attaches to any particular colour really depends on the context in which it is used. For the Byakugan, I think that Kishi has combined two different ideas. The design of the eyes is based on an old obscure horror film but the way they operate and to some extent the meaning behind them is more religious.

The horror flic is a film called Scanners. It was made way back in 1981 (before I was even born). It is an extremely dark and violent film about two brothers who develop mind control powers (kind of like the Sharingan). Kishi more or less ripped off the entire appearance of the White Eyes with Bulging Veins directly from this film. He also more or less copied the relationship of the two brothers but that’s a whole other conversation. If you’re old enough to watch the film, I wholeheartedly recommend it, but I doubt it will be to everyone’s taste. Here’s Michael Ironside using the forerunner of the Byakugan:

There is nothing pure about the eyes in Scanners. I use the word “pure” to describe Hinata and the Hyuuga’s White because I think there might be a religious undertone to the way the eyes are used. The ability to see in all directions at once without impediment ties into a goddess popular all throughout Asia. The goddess in question is the inspiration for a lot of techniques in the manga – here is a statue in the manga that is typical of real world statues to this particular goddess in Japan:
Tokyo Bay Kannon… in Futtsu City, Chiba:

There are only a handful of significant statues in Naruto and this is one of them. It sits outside the location of where Madara and Hashirama first made peace (at least it looks like the same building in the background but the roof's been repaired):

Statues erected years later:

I think that the Statue on the Left might represent the Demon. I’ll cover this statue next time in a follow up on the possible importance of Black and Blue. The Statue on the Right though looks like one of 33 incarnations of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. These distinctively white statues of Kannon are referred to as a Byaku Kannon. The White represents the pure aspiration for enlightenment. This particular incarnation is prayed to in order to ward off sickness, grant fertility (Hinata is the mother of Naruto’s kids after all) and to help raise children.

You will notice the marking on the forehead. This is the same marking as found on Sakura and Tsunade’s foreheads. The technique despite being called a Yin Seal and appearing Black is actually called the Byakugou which translates as White Hair. The White Hair is something monks would wrap on their foreheads to symbolize a third eye. This Third Eye is supposed to be able to see beyond this world into the next.

Kannon uses her Third Eye to watch over the Six Realms of the afterlife in Pure Land Buddhism. These Six Realms are the Pure Lands of the Samsara, the “cycle of suffering”. Kannon aids those caught up in the cycle of suffering to break their cycle in order to reach enlightenment. I think that in the Manga, Kaguya effectively represents Kannon. She too has a Third Eye and she too governs the afterlife – though Kaguya is currently evil (I expect that to change in Part 3 but I may be wrong). The Six Realms in Naruto correspond to the different dimensions Kaguya travels between during their fight:

Each Realm is named after one of the Paths of Pain:

These Realms can be seen on religious paintings of the Samsara (the cycle of suffering):

The Byakugan though represents Kannon’s true power. In India she is known as Avalokiteśvara which translates as the Lord Who Regards All (avalokita = observe, iśvara = unimpeded). Her current day names in both Chinese and Japanese mean more or less the same thing. Her name in Chinese, Guanyin is actually short for Guanshiyin, which means "Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the World". Likewise the Japanese Kannon is an abbreviation for Kanzeon 観世音 which translates as the one who constantly surveys (kan 観) the world (ze 世) listening for the sounds (on 音) of suffering. I think that the Byakugan effectively represents this ability to see suffering wherever it exists.

The Byakugan can see in all directions and through any object. Their eyesight is sharper even than the Sharingan. If Kaguya represents Kannon then the inheritance of the Byakugan is her true legacy. This is what makes the Byakugan Princess so important:

I think the “Sound” of suffering is where Orochimaru’s Village takes its name from. His village is nothing more than an army of guinea pigs and test subjects that he uses and tortures to help find stronger hosts or to make prospective hosts even stronger:

It’s not hard to see how Orochimaru accumulated so much White Zetsu Material…

The Hyuuga are not the only clan whose power derives from Kannon. The Senju take their name from one of the more famous depictions of Kannon known as the Senju Kannon. The Senju Kannon is a 1000 armed manifestation of the goddess of Mercy. Although Kannon was always atuned to the suffering of others it is said that she did not always have the capacity to do anything about it. In order that she might better serve those in need, she is said to have been granted 1000 arms by Amida in order to help others out. The Senju Kannon is the model upon which Hashirama’s Wooden Buddha is based…

The current manifestation of Kaguya is probably based in part on the wrathful Kannon, known as the Bato Kannon or Hayagriva. This incarnation is dedicated to curing sickness and diseases caused by the Nagas.

This angry manifestation of Kannon is probably also the inspiration for Spiral Yamato’s version of the Wooden Buddha. The Five Skulls on Hayagriva’s head are supposed to consume the “five poisons”

The Moon’s Eye Plan might be an indirect reference to another of Kannon’s incarnations – the image of Guanyin staring at the moon on the water is an icon across China and Japan, known as the Shuiyue Guanyin (Chinese) or Suigetsu Kannon (Japanese – NB also the member of Team Hebi). Its message (as far as I can make out) is that you shouldn’t be fooled by appearances – at night the moon looks like it’s on the water but it is only a reflection.

One final connection between a specific Hyuuga and the pure white of Kannon is the birds that Kishi uses as a metaphor for Neji’s journey. For most of Part 1 Neji behaves like a monster because he resents being forced to be subservient to the Main Branch of the Hyuuga Clan - who he mistakenly blames for his father's death. The Marking on Neji’s forehead is called the Bird in a Cage Seal in the manga, which is used to prevent rebellion by branch family members and to seal their Byakugan into the Tenseigan (something revealed in Naruto: The Last). The Main Family likely developed the Seal in order to prevent repetition of the destruction of the Main Branch of the Ootsutsuki Family by Toneri’s Branch family.

On death the Byakugan are sealed by the marking on their foreheads which looks like a Swastika but is actually another symbol associated with Kannon known as a Hōin 宝印 which represents possession of all virtues and devotion to Buddhism):

Neji is bitter and angry until Naruto defeats him. Naruto shows Neji that he need not be defined by his inferior status within the Hyuuga clan. Neji is released from his cage by this defeat as illustrated by the birds flying off:

... after Neji’s wing’s get clipped his death inspires the Shinobi Aliiance and his “will” gives shape to these feelings as the giant bird that takes down the Juubi (at least temporarily):

This might be a bit of a stretch but given all the other connections to Guanyin / Kannon, I think that this might in part also be connected to the association of Guanyin in China with the Dove (which represents peace and fecundity):

I'll have to cut it short here. I've put in too many pictures to go any further. I'll do more next time on Black and Blue.

Very nice effort RT! I waited for this so long nice read! :)

But why Orochimaru lost in hiw own dimension to sasuke? Or did he do it on purpose? Why did he let things go like they went, without more plotting.

Kaguya's Husband (?)

For me, this was always a major question, even after the series ended, "Who was Kaguya's husband ?". A few people said that he was either a tribal warrior or was not relevant to the story. But, I highly doubt that as Kaguya, Hagoromo and Hamura are historical figures who laid the basis of the story.

Kaguya, the mother of Hagoromo and Hamura ate the Shinju's Fruit.

And was the Juubi.

You must be registered for see images

The Juubi was sealed by Hagoromo and Hamura.

You must be registered for see images

Hagoromo was a Legend (Sage Of The Six Paths).

You must be registered for see images

Hamura was not able to become a legend because of Black Zetsu's intervention. Black Zetsu changed the text on the tablet and removed Hamura's mention as he does not appear in Madara's re-collection which came from the tablet.

All three of them pretty much laid the basis of the story. To say that the Husband of Kaguya is not an important character doesn't sit well with me. Then who is the Husband ? Well there is a certain common behavioral pattern which connects Kaguya and Orochimaru mysteriously...

When Kaguya is revived, she mistakes Naruto for Hagoromo and Sasuke for Hamura.

You must be registered for see images

She cries when she thinks of Naruto as Hagoromo and Sasuke as Hamura.

You must be registered for see images

This does not make sense, since Naruto is Ashura (Yang) and Sasuke is Indra (Yin) both of which are Hagoromo's inheritance.

You must be registered for see images

So why did Kaguya connect Sasuke with Hamura ? I think the answer lies in her memories as she was sealed by two people, her two sons. I think Kaguya subconsciously connected Sasuke with Hamura and Naruto with Hagoromo.

You must be registered for see images

We see that Kaguya has a certain bias against her sons. When she sees Naruto, the representation of Hagoromo, she gets filled with Hatred and Rage.

You must be registered for see images

Kaguya even tries to mercilessly kill Naruto (Hagoromo) multiple times.

You must be registered for see images
You must be registered for see images

Kaguya/Juubi was easily enraged by Naruto/Hagoromo's power.

You must be registered for see images

But, the same cannot be said for Sasuke, the representation Of Hamura. Kaguya teleports Sasuke (Hamura) away to another dimension to take him out of the picture while she engages Naruto (Hagoromo) directly.

Kaguya also seems to be nostalgic when she looks at the Wat Arun Temple where Hamura's soul; the RDS is sealed.

Similarly, Kaguya/Juubi casually flicked away Sasuke's Amaterasu without paying any attention to him.

And once again when Sasuke used Amaterasu.

It seems that Kaguya had a more loving connection with Hamura over Hagoromo. Strangely, this pattern is reflected in Orochimaru also.

Orochimaru considers Naruto (Hagoromo) as not only a threat but also a burden. He engaged him in Part 2 in Naruto's Four Tail Form and had a very stormy relationship with him. Naruto pretty much had the same attitude against Orochimaru of Rage and Hate.

You must be registered for see images

While Sasuke (Hamura) is the jewel of his eyes. Orochimaru wants Sasuke's Body and Sasuke pretty much had a Neutral/Ok relationship with Orochimatu.

Perhaps this attention of Kaguya and Orochimaru could be Sasuke/Hamura's connection to the Void/Star ?

I think these similar behavioral patterns hint that Orochimaru is Kaguya's husband and the Father of Hagoromo and Hamura ?
