The Debating Garage.
Brought to you by L Lawliet and Crow.

Courage and Cowardice.

The Hypothetical.

You find yourself in a subway, you're not on the train just yet, but you hear it coming fast. Faster than normal it seems. Then you hear a shriek, and another. And pretty soon everyone is gasping and yelling. You look at the tracks. A child stands. Petrified by fear. You see that he's a soccer player, he'll be missed by many. He couldn't be any older than eight or so. The train is shooting through the tunnel like a bullet fires from the chamber. There's little time.

The Choice.

-There's enough time to jump to the boy and throw him to safety. But not enough time after that to get yourself outta dodge.
-Or you can stand there, the only person willing to help, and do nothing. And lets assume that you are the only one that can help, as illogical as that sounds.

The Aftermath.

~If you chose to save the boy, you die a hero. Beloved by all, your past sins forgotten. A school and foundation are named after you. A statue is built in your image, and you are remembered as a model of pure courageousness.

~But, if you were a coward, everyone knows. No one takes physical action against you, but the same cant be said for verbal. You are ostracized and excluded from most activities. No one wants to hire a coward, so you're out of any job possibility. You live, but can you live with your cowardice?

I'd like to say that I'm a couragous knight. That I honor life and love above all else, even if its not mine. But when it comes down to it, I'm not sure. But I've not had a true test of courage in my life yet.

I personally think if I had been in a situation like that being my current self, I'd gladly throw away my life to save another's. Especially a child. I have a soft spot for kids, since I have little siblings. Death doesn't scare me as much as being alone.

I'm 100% a coward.
I don't really think it's a matter of bravery or cowardice, but more of being indifferent or having a sensible heart.

Ha. This is an easy one. I would choose to save the child.
With complete disregard of your own safety, or your life for that matter? Are you 100% sure? Not judging, just curious.

I'd never allow someone to die when I can save them.
But what about not being able to save yourself afterwards?

I never liked Soccer, sooooooooo....I go wih #2.....if I can't get a job, I can always go to another place
LOL.

Why is everyone so stuck on the kid playing soccer? I only put that there to infer that he was friends with a lot of people.... -.-'

LOL ikr? You'd think the fact that he's 8 years old outshines whether he's a soccer player or anything else at this kind of situations

This is troublesome..I want to say that I´d gladly give my life for a child, but at the same time I value my own..

And while I cannot say for sure, I´d most probably think of saving the kid first.

out of curiosity, there were other people standing there but they didn't help? and also when push comes to shove the moment would get to anyone, hesitate, lose the chance and kill yourself aswell as the child if you went.

I explained your question in the OP. But I'll say it again. Lets assume that no one else is able to help for one reason or another, whether they be old or crippled.
