If he does die, it will be after the void century is revealed. His death might be the trigger, or the finalizing event that will lead to the fall of the World Governament, the prosecution of freedom-endangering rules and the stepping stone for a better and more united world. This is what I believe in. Although in tender age, I don't really see Luffy grow old, he is more than a person, he is an ideal, and he will live as an ideal, and not as a person. I wouldn't be opposed, though, to a second time-skip after they hit the end of the grandline... With luffy acclaimed to be the pirate king by many, but not the government, and the absent time being in preparation, with the revolutionaries, to overthrow the world government and free the non-allied countries- I feel it would be epic, and it would end with Luffy's death, and the whole world believing, including the world government survivors, that he truly is, the Pirate King

Well said, Lili-Chwan. One thing I don't think will happen though, and that's a second time-skip. I already feel like the first time-skip in One Piece symbolized the end of the first of the two parts, and it would ruin it completely by making a new one. My opinion of course.

Fair point, but what I mean is, Oda isn't the type to take something special like this and just repeat it, you know? It would be cool indeed, but it's just not Oda's type of thing.

I know what you mean, and I agree, at least for what we've seen so far. Oda knows how to make new things every arc, and I doubt he would repeat the story, kinda like a loop. Of course, it would be pretty cool though, but as you said, it isn't his kind of style.

I don't need any explainations, i already believe he is gonna meet his end by willfully execution =DD

Well, it is the biggest theory on Luffy's death ;) We just have to wait and see, and there's a big chance that Oda surprises us with something pretty unexpected, like he always do.

Oda has made us cry for Going Merry, a ship. I don't know what will happen to us if Luffy dies xd

i think luffy will discover that the world government is evil, and will free the world, and become pirate king, and then either chill, or die or something, but i think he will revolutionize the world.

I didn't cry, I thought that the dramatic scene of going merry dying was pretty stupid.

I cried, and I know a big amount of the OP fans did too. I'm not ashamed to say it. Plus Luffy dying would probably become the saddest OP moment if it ever happens.

Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to spoil anything in any way. I'll be quiet about this stuff now ;)

Seems like a legit way of him dying, though I would have to agree with lili on how she views it. Would be that much more epic.

I think most of us agree with Lili ^_^ The whole series started with Gol D. Roger getting executed in his hometown, so how epic wouldn't it be if it ended with Luffy getting executed in his hometown?

I don't think he will be executed in his hometown, though he will be buried somewhere significant. Gold D Roger was executed in his hometown, the weakest of Blues, and propelled the Gold Age of Pirates. He did so to inspire other to follow his footsteps, looking for the one to carry his legacy, find All Blue, and discover the secret of the Void Century, in the proper way. Let it be noted that it was not his choice to be executed there, it was the World Government, and it was coincidental that the weakest and most peaceful of Blues would be Roger's home. In Luffy's case, there won't be a World Government, or if it is, and executing Luffy is the desperate choice, they won't make the same mistake they did in the past.

Like I said, Roger's death served to inspire others to fulfill his goal. Luffy's work will stem from that, and his dead will not propel a new Golden Age, but rather propel a new Peace Era, because it will culminate Roger's unfinished work, and bring an end not only the story but also the the huge mechanisms in motion behind the story, behind all the whimsy and quest to find One Piece, because by now we all agree there's something much deeper behind Roger's Golden Age and One Piece, and that is what Luffy's death will bring an end to

One Piece is probably the secret of the void century. I also believe that in the end, Shanks will die, right at the end though. Luffy will probably place his straw hat on Shanks' grave, when he becomes the pirate king of course. I wonder if Luffy will be buried where Gol D. Roger is. We still have many years of OP left.

Are you retarded? One Piece's many attribution to it's plot is the perceptions and conceptions of justice. The whole point of Luffy being Pirate King is to end this war against these perspectives and bring peace upon One Piece's world building.

Which is an entire different topic

Luffy can bring that to fruition but, he doesn't need to be alive after the last manga panel for that to happen

And you call him a retard ?

Your ****ing hilarious

Luffy dying is a possibility, but he won't give himself to the current government. The world government is shown to be corrupt for a reason, foreshadowing a war were it will be overthrown by the revolutionaries who possibly ally themselves with pirates such as Luffy. Dragon is the leader of the revolutionaries so why would he have his own son executed? It will go down with Luffy finds One Piece, becomes Pirate king, huge war with Luffy + Allies + Revolutionaries vs World Government + Marines + anyone else who dislikes Luffy. Luffy also gives Shank's strawhat to Makino's baby, who is Shank's son. - lol i got carried away story telling.

Besides those saying he mirrors Gol D Roger who gave himself in, there are hints in the manga that he's not dead, and hes waiting for the new pirate king at raftel. - Whitebeard telling Blackbeard that Roger isn't waiting for him and Roger himself telling Rayleigh that he won't die.

Roger was near death when he chose to give himself. reasons still unknown. Luffy wont die. Hes still very young even if lets say 15 years of his life were taken (taking into consideration the injections and his gear 2)
I think gear two doesnt really decrease his life span. The only reason he can use it is because hes made of rubber so I dont think so.
