Kakashi bears a striking resemblence to his father, the famous Sakumo Hatake, commonly known as Konoha's White Fang. Chiyo of the Sand once mistook Kakashi to be his father and she was ready to kill him. Among his peers, Kakashi is known for his mask, which cover the lower part of his face and his spikey tall white hair, having been inherited from his father.
When he was a child, Kakashi was often seen wearing a black T-shirt that had white stripes running down the middle of the sleeves. Metal arm protectors covered the sleeves he had cut out from his shirt. Over his shirt, Kakashi wore leather straps, and on his back, he worehis father's keepsake, the White Light Chakra Sabre. His pants were very similiar to the pants of the standard Konoha shinobi uniform. Occasionally, Kakashi was also seen in a black sleeveless shirt for casual wear.

Personality:
As a young child, Kakashi grew up in the shadow of his father, the great Sakumo Hatake. Kakashi idolized and looked up to his father. However, when Kakashi was 8 years old, Sakumo sacrificed the completion of a mission in order to save his allies and as a result, faced great ridicule. Driven by disgrace, Sakumo commited suicide and after that day, Kakashi followed every rule and regulation of the shinobi code strictly and was uncompromising to prevent his own disgrace. Due to this rigid philosophy, he often argueed with his teamate, Obito Uchiha, who had the habit of being late and did not follow the shinobi code to the letter. Despite all of this, Kakashi felt a responsibility to keep his team members safe and had a desire to impress his sensei.
After the death of Obito, when he and Kakashi had just started to become friends, Kakashi's personality dramatically changed. He adopted many traits of Obito such as being cheerful, arriving late, and most importantly, valuing his comrades', and later his students', lives as more important than a mission. Despite these changes, Kakashi can still be very apethetic, especially when sppeaking about sensative students with his matter-of-fact attitude. He uses his calm and detached demeanour to his advantage in battle, only rarely does he lose his cool and becomes emotional and "wild."

General:
Kakashi has created a well deserved reputation throughout his shinobi career. He has such great abilities that he would have become the 6th Hokage had Tsunade not woken from her coma moments before he took office. His abilitirs also caused him to be commander of the Third Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces.
In addition to these acknowledgemets from his allies, Kakashi's abilities have also been acknowledged by his enemies. For example, during his invasion, Pain singled out Kakashi due to his concern over the danger that Kakashi posed. This concern was later validated in the Fourth Shinobi World War when Kakashi and Guy together managed to hold off several "Version 2" state jinchūriki by themselves.
Kakashi's greatest abilitiy is his ability to improve himself. The most obvious example is how he increase his chakra reserve between Parts I and II. Another example is how he could not keep up with Itachi Uchiha in Part I but he improved his speed and he could keep up with Itachi in their fight during Part II.

Kakashi is considered a genius by many. He graduated from the academy at the age of five and became a chunin when he was six. By thirteen years of age, Kakashi was promoted to jounin and he also devised chiodori, a technique equal in strength to the rasengan. Kakahi was also made a anbu captain at a young age.
At the start of Part II, Naruto claimed that Kakashi was smarter than Shikamaru Nara. On numerous occasions, Kakashi has demonstrated his intellegence in battle by analyzing his opponents and devising strategies.

Sharingan:
The dojutsu that gave Kakashi Hatake the name - The Man Who has coppied 1000 jutsu, was given to Kakashi as Obito Uchiha's final action. As Kakashi is not a member of the Uchiha clan, the sharingan always remains active and requires more chakra. Between Part I and Part II, Kakashi was able to go from using a sharingan for only a short battle to having the capabality of using the sharingan for a full day. Itachi Uchiha has acknowledged Kakashi's superior proficiency with the Sharingan compared to most true Sharingan wielders.

Background Information
As a member of Team Minato, Kakashi has completed numerous missions. Some of the missions during the Third Great Shinobi War were sabotage missions. Team Minato consists of Minato Namikaze, Konoha's Yellow Flash, Obito Uchiha, the black sheep of the Uchiha, and Rin, a medical ninja. Kakashi has the strongest relationships with Minato and Obito. His sensei, Minato, has tried to encourage a looser interpation of the shinobi code. Kakashi looks up to Minato and often tries to impress him.Despite their frequent arguments, Kakashi feels a responsibility to defend Obito. In addition to his self-imposed duty of protecting Obito, Kakashi also feels a sense of responsibility for Rin's safety. Unknown to Kakashi, Rin happens to have a crush on him.
He was present at the village during Tobi's attck with the Ninetails and for a while, Kakashi was a high ranking member of the ANBU Black Ops.
Introduction Arc
When Kakashi was given the next potential Team 7 — which consisted of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno — he gave them a bell test, requiring the three of them to obtain at least one bell that he keeps on his waist. With only two bells available and three genin present, his students believed the test to be a competition against each other and so they worked independently in the attempt to take a bell. At first the team failed, however, Kakashi decided to give them another chance and they passed because they displayed teamwork. ater it was revealed that Kakashi was chosen specifically to be the leader of Team 7 because of Naruto and Sasuke. Kakashi's duty in addition to training the team was also to keep the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox in Naruto contained, and to keep Sasuke from walking down a dark path.
Land of Waves Arc
Team Seven was originally assigned a C-Rank mission of being body guards however, the mission was far more dangerous than what they had been initially assigned (A-rank, B-rank jōnin difficulty).
Upon arrival, Zabuza, overpowered Kakashi because Kakashi was too focused on defending his team. Naruto and Sauske were able to free Kakashi and Kakashi began to win the fight only to be stopped by Haku. After recovering from overuse of his sharingan, Kakashi fought Zabuza again, this time Kakashi emerged victorious. As Kakashi was about to kill Zabuza, Haku sacrificed his life.
After Zabuza's death at the hands of Gato's Henchmen, Kakashi buried Haku and Zabuza before returning to Konoha with Team 7.
Chūnin Exam Arc
Feeling his students were ready, Kakashi entered Team 7 in the Chūnin Exams, despite some initial disapproval from other elite ninja. After discovering the curse mark, he tried to seal it off from Sauske and he personally trained Sauske after the preliminary rounds. He taught Sauske the chiodori.
Invasion of Konoha Arc
When Sunagakure and Otogakure's invasion of Konoha began during Sasuke's match, Kakashi helped release the genjutsu and fought off several invaders. When he noticed that Sasuke was going after Gaara, Kakashi sent Naruto, Sakura, Shikamaru Nara, and Pakkun to stop him and bring him back. After the failed Invasion, he attends the Third Hokage's funeral, mourning his loss, he listens to Iruka's words at the funeral and thinks how sad it would be if the Third had died for nothing.
Search for Tsunade Arc
When the akatsuki first came to the Hidden Leaf, Kakashi fought Itachi, however Kakashi fell victim to Tsukuyomi and went into a coma. Kakashi was not revived until Tsunade returned to the village. Immediately after recovering, he was sent on a new mission.
Sasuke Retrieval Arc
Before setting out on his mission, Kakashi stopped a battle between Naruto and Sasuke. Learning that in his absence, Sasuke had begun reverting to his obsession for power and revenge. Kakashi lectured Sasuke about misusing the Chidori, however, before long, Sauske met the Sound Four of Orochimaru and left the village.
When Kakashi returned from his mission, he found out that Sasuke had defected and, ignoring the fact that he had a new mission, Kakashi rushed out to track down Sasuke and the retrieval team. Thanks to Pakun, Kakashi was able to locate a defeated Naruto, with Sasuke having already left. Unable to pursue Sasuke because of a fresh rainfall and due to Naruto's current condition, Kakashi took Naruto back to the village to recover, saddened that he failed to help his students.
Kazekage Rescue Arc
During the time skip, similiarly to how each of his students were in training, Kakashi worked to enhance hi own skills. When Naruto returned, he and Sakura both took part in another bell test, this time they actually got the bell. When word reached Konoha that Gaara had been kidnapped by Akatsuki, Team Kakashi was sent to rescue Gaara. Upon arrival in Sunagakure, they are teamed with Chiyo before following Akatsuki's trail. Before arriving at the lair, Kakashi had another encounter with Itachi. This time Kakashi fought on even ground, however, it turned that he was not fighting the actual Itachi. With the help of Team Guy, Kakashi and his team was able to infiltrate the lair, where they found Sasori, Deidara and Gaara.
Kaashi and Naruto both pursued Deidara who had flown off with Gaara's body. Kakashi was able to sever Deidara's arm with new Mangekyō Sharingan and its Kamui ability despite the fact that he had aimed for Deidara's head. Deidara tried to use a Suicide Bombing Clone to escape but Kakashi used Kamui again to get rid of the explosion, saving Team Guy, who was nearby. Chiyo gave her life to revive Gaara and Teams Kakashi and Guy both return home. Because he used Kamui too much Kakashi is left bed-ridden for a week.
Sasuke and Sai Arc
After the previous mission, Kakashi is forced to remain in the hospital due to the excessive use of Kamui and therefore, Yamato goes in his stead to confront Sasori's spy.
Hidan and Kakuzu Arc
After recovering, Kakashi began training Naruto in the wind element in order for Naruto to complete the Rasengan by add a nature to it. Upon hearing that Asuma Sarutobi had been killed in a battle with Akatsuki, Kakashi decided to lead Team 10 in avenging him. When they located Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu, Shikamaru distracted the two, giving Kakashi an opportunity to hit Kakuzu with a Lightning Cutter. Although successful, it turned out that Kakuzu had a total of five hearts, and that Kakashi had destroyed only one. After Kakashi barely survived the tag team, Shikamaru led Hidan away separating the duo. Kakashi held off Kakazu until Naruto arrived and defeated Kakazu with the new Ransenshurikan. If Naruto had arrived when he did, Kakashi would have been forced to use Kamui.
At Kakazu's autopsy, Tsunade labeled Naruto's new technique as a kinjutsu and ordered that he never uses it again because of the detrimental side-effects. As Kakashi attempted to tell Naruto what Tsunade had said, Naruto interrupted him telling him not to stop him from progressing.
Itachi Pursuit Arc
When word of Orochimaru's defeat at the hands of Sasuke reached Konoha, Kakashi tried to make another attempt at retrieving Sasuke. He led a combination of Team Kakashi and Team Kurenai and almost caught Sauske, however, Tobi delayed them. After the fight, Tobi got to Sasuke first and Kakashi was forced to return home.
Invasion of Pain Arc
When Akatsuki's leader, Pain, attacked Konoha in search of Naruto, Kakashi confronted Pain's Deva Path. The Asura Path arrived to help the Deva Path while Chōji and Chōza Akimichi reinforced Kakashi. Kakashi figured out the Deva Path's abilities and almost destroyed it but he and the Akimichis were defeated. Believing them all to be dead, the Deva Path left. When he came to, Kakashi sent Chōji to tell Tsunade about the Deva Path's abilities, but as Chōji left, the still-active Asura Path launched a missile at him. Despite certain death as being the consequence, Kakahi used Kamui to destroy the missel and save Chōji. He soon found himself at a campfire with his deceased father, Sakumo, to whom he tells his life story upon request from his father.
After finishing the recount of his life, he stated that he finally understood why his father had chosen to save his friends and was now proud of him for it. Their conversation was halted when a ray of light beamed down upon Kakashi, as a result of Nagato's Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique. After the invasion came to an end, Kakashi fetched Naruto and brought him back to a massive welcoming party at Konoha.
Five Kage Summit Arc
When news reaches Konoha of Sasuke's actions in the Land of Lightning, Naruto asks Kakashi and Yamato to take him to the Land of Iron so that he can ask the Fourth Raikage to forgive Sasuke. They locate the Raikage, but Naruto is unable to convince him. During their stay at a motel in the Land of Iron, Tobi confronts Naruto. Having expected him, Kakashi and Yamato attack him. Knowing the attacks will have no effect, Tobi tells them about Sasuke's motivations, the Sage of the Six Paths, the Uchiha clan, and the truth of Itachi.
Kakashi witnesses Sakura tell Naruto that she loves him but he suspected that this was not the real reason they she came. One of Sai's clones said that Sakura was going to kill Sasuke before he involved Konoha in a future war. As Kakashi prepared to follow her, Gaara arrived and told them about the start of the Fourth Shinobi World War and Danzō's actions at the Kage Summit. He adds that the other Kage would prefer if Kakashi were the Hokage. Kakashi was able to find Sakura in time to stop Sasuke from killing her and told her that, as Sasuke's teacher, he would be the one to kill him. Kakashi made one final unsuccesful attempt to draw Sasuke away from a life of vengeance before he fights Sasuke. Their fight soon led off the bridge they were on and Kakashi received an attack from Sasuke's Susanoo forcing Kakashi to use Kamui to divert the attack. Naruto arrives in time to save Sakura, and furious at Sasuke's mercilessness, Kakashi tried to finish him off. Naruto halted Kakashi in order to speak with Sasuke and Tobi and Zetsu soon arrive. Kakashi tried to take out Tobi with Kamui, but Tobi told him that the technique would not work on him. Tobi teleported away taking Sasuke, and Zetsu left then as well.
Confining the Jinchūriki Arc
Back in Konoha, Kakashi spoke with Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado about all that has occurred. While reluctant to become Hokage, he agreed and accompanied them to a meeting with the Fire Daimyō. Before he can be appointed, news reaches them of Tsunade waking up, ending the proceedings.
Shinobi World War Arc
Kakashi was later appointed as commander of the Third Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces. As he and the other generals stood over their battalions he urged Gaara as the Regimental Commander to say a few words to them. Later on while Kakashi was with his division, he is able to save Sai, Omoi, and Zaji from danger. Kakashi then began to fight Zabua. After the previous generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are summoned to the battlefield, Kakashi was able to have Zabuza and Haku sealed away. Openly voicing his anger at how someone could toy with the dead, Kakashi lifted Zabuza's fully regenerated blade and stated that the Copy Ninja would now go on a rampage. Kakashi was later shown holding onto the Kubikiribōchō.
On the next day, Kakashi continues to fight and more swordsmen are sealed. After noticing that more White Zetsu Army clones were arriving, Kakashi noticed that they also had reinforcements after seeing Naruto's clone arrive on the battlefield. After dealing with the remaining Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Kakashi and Guy head on to save Naruto from being captured by Tobi. Attacking him once he materialised, Kakashi was able to retrieve Naruto before Tobi could warp him away. Kakashi and Guy then began to fight against many of the jinchuriki along side of Naruto. He and Guy were both saved at one point by Naruto in his full Jinchuriki form.
Childhood
Kakashi was born as the only son to Sakumo Hatake. Early in his childhood, his mother died and therefore, Kakashi was exclusively raised by his father. At the age of five, Kakashi graduated from the academy and bacame a genin. When he was six years old, Kakashi became a chunin. Life drastically changed for Kakashi when he was eight years old. His father, Sakumo, returned from a mission in great disgrace because Sakumo had decided that the lives of his comrades were more important than the success of the mission. When they located Akatsuki members Hidan and Kakuzu, Shikamaru distracted the two, giving Kakashi an opportunity to hit Kakuzu with a Lightning Cutter. Although successful, it turned out that Kakuzu had a total of five hearts, and that Kakashi had destroyed only one. After Kakashi barely survived the tag team, Shikamaru led Hidan away separating the duo. Kakashi held off Kakazu until Naruto arrived and defeated Kakazu with the new Ransenshurikan. If Naruto had arrived when he did, Kakashi would have been forced to use Kamui.
At Kakazu's autopsy, Tsunade labeled Naruto's new technique as a kinjutsu and ordered that he never uses it again because of the detrimental side-effects. As Kakashi attempted to tell Naruto what Tsunade had said, Naruto interrupted him telling him not to stop him from progressing.
Itachi Pursuit Arc
When word of Orochimaru's defeat at the hands of Sasuke reached Konoha, Kakashi tried to make another attempt at retrieving Sasuke. He led a combination of Team Kakashi and Team Kurenai and almost caught Sauske, however, Tobi delayed them. After the fight, Tobi got to Sasuke first and Kakashi was forced to return home.
Invasion of Pain Arc
When Akatsuki's leader, Pain, attacked Konoha in search of Naruto, Kakashi confronted Pain's Deva Path. The Asura Path arrived to help the Deva Path while Chōji and Chōza Akimichi reinforced Kakashi. Kakashi figured out the Deva Path's abilities and almost destroyed it but he and the Akimichis were defeated. Believing them all to be dead, the Deva Path left. When he came to, Kakashi sent Chōji to tell Tsunade about the Deva Path's abilities, but as Chōji left, the still-active Asura Path launched a missile at him. Despite certain death as being the consequence, Kakahi used Kamui to destroy the missel and save Chōji. He soon found himself at a campfire with his deceased father, Sakumo, to whom he tells his life story upon request from his father.
After finishing the recount of his life, he stated that he finally understood why his father had chosen to save his friends and was now proud of him for it. Their conversation was halted when a ray of light beamed down upon Kakashi, as a result of Nagato's Samsara of Heavenly Life Technique. After the invasion came to an end, Kakashi fetched Naruto and brought him back to a massive welcoming party at Konoha.
Five Kage Summit Arc
When news reaches Konoha of Sasuke's actions in the Land of Lightning, Naruto asks Kakashi and Yamato to take him to the Land of Iron so that he can ask the Fourth Raikage to forgive Sasuke. They locate the Raikage, but Naruto is unable to convince him. During their stay at a motel in the Land of Iron, Tobi confronts Naruto. Having expected him, Kakashi and Yamato attack him. Knowing the attacks will have no effect, Tobi tells them about Sasuke's motivations, the Sage of the Six Paths, the Uchiha clan, and the truth of Itachi.
Kakashi witnesses Sakura tell Naruto that she loves him but he suspected that this was not the real reason they she came. One of Sai's clones said that Sakura was going to kill Sasuke before he involved Konoha in a future war. As Kakashi prepared to follow her, Gaara arrived and told them about the start of the Fourth Shinobi World War and Danzō's actions at the Kage Summit. He adds that the other Kage would prefer if Kakashi were the Hokage. Kakashi was able to find Sakura in time to stop Sasuke from killing her and told her that, as Sasuke's teacher, he would be the one to kill him. Kakashi made one final unsuccesful attempt to draw Sasuke away from a life of vengeance before he fights Sasuke. Their fight soon led off the bridge they were on and Kakashi received an attack from Sasuke's Susanoo forcing Kakashi to use Kamui to divert the attack. Naruto arrives in time to save Sakura, and furious at Sasuke's mercilessness, Kakashi tried to finish him off. Naruto halted Kakashi in order to speak with Sasuke and Tobi and Zetsu soon arrive. Kakashi tried to take out Tobi with Kamui, but Tobi told him that the technique would not work on him. Tobi teleported away taking Sasuke, and Zetsu left then as well.
Confining the Jinchūriki Arc
Back in Konoha, Kakashi spoke with Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado about all that has occurred. While reluctant to become Hokage, he agreed and accompanied them to a meeting with the Fire Daimyō. Before he can be appointed, news reaches them of Tsunade waking up, ending the proceedings.
Shinobi World War Arc
Kakashi was later appointed as commander of the Third Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces. As he and the other generals stood over their battalions he urged Gaara as the Regimental Commander to say a few words to them. Later on while Kakashi was with his division, he is able to save Sai, Omoi, and Zaji from danger. Kakashi then began to fight Zabua. After the previous generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are summoned to the battlefield, Kakashi was able to have Zabuza and Haku sealed away. Openly voicing his anger at how someone could toy with the dead, Kakashi lifted Zabuza's fully regenerated blade and stated that the Copy Ninja would now go on a rampage. Kakashi was later shown holding onto the Kubikiribōchō.
On the next day, Kakashi continues to fight and more swordsmen are sealed. After noticing that more White Zetsu Army clones were arriving, Kakashi noticed that they also had reinforcements after seeing Naruto's clone arrive on the battlefield. After dealing with the remaining Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Kakashi and Guy head on to save Naruto from being captured by Tobi. Attacking him once he materialised, Kakashi was able to retrieve Naruto before Tobi could warp him away. Kakashi and Guy then began to fight against many of the jinchuriki along side of Naruto. He and Guy were both saved at one point by Naruto in his full Jinchuriki form.
