Chapter 2: Training starts now!
Reji opened his eyes only to be greeted by a ray of ultraviolet sunlight pouring in from his window. “Today’s the day; I start training!” The boy thought, thrilled at the thought of all the new techniques he would learn.
The spiky red haired teenager burst out of bed with exuberant energy and bolted into the bathroom. Five minutes had past and he was fully dressed and ready to go; he slid the two Sai he got as a present from his elder brother under his blue hidden leaf headband which was tied to his waste.
"I'm so ready for training!" Reji vociferated as he lurched down the stairs and landed feet first in front of the brown door. “R-Reji, can I speak to you for a second?" Shun asked as he placed his bowl of newly mixed cereal on the gray counter.
"Oh, okay Shun what is it?" Reji retorted in a curious manner. The red spiky haired boy walked into the kitchen and offered his older brother a warm smile of excitement.
"Well, I don't think you should use the Heaven drop anymore." Shun advised in a concerned tone.
"W-why not, so far it’s my strongest move?!” The Rookie ninja shouted.
"Because it uses too much chakra," Shun explained, "Reji, I heard about yesterday and how you didn’t give up; giving one hundred and ten percent. That makes me really proud, but I just can’t allow you to put that much strain on your body at such a young age, I’m sorry.."
“This stinks…. Hold on a second, what am I saying? I’m going to became an S-class ninja no matter what it takes!” The boy thought to himself.
"Fine, I won't use the Heaven drop anymore you have my word." Reji vowed.
"Okay then that is all I wanted to say, oh yeah and good luck today." Shun replied. The high spirited boy trotted out of the door and began to head for the fifth training ground.
"This is going to be a little hard without the Heaven drop but hey, I like a good challenge." The speedy young man said to himself.
"Hey, Reji look out!" A familiar voice called out. Without at single warning the young Huuga clan child landed beside him with perfect accuracy.
"What's up?" Reji asked.
"Nothing much, I'm just so excited for today." Solrac replied.
"How about a race, to burn off some of that extra energy?” The child suggested.
"Good idea we'll start on three." Solrac said.
"1, 2, 3!" The two Gennin yelled as they took off with an incredible amount of speed. Almost immediately the two were neck and neck.
"Is this guy really trying, or was yesterday just some big fluke?” the Huuga clan boy thought.
"You're fast; just not fast enough, sorry Solrac but I’ll be waiting for you at the training field.” Reji taunted as the easily past Solrac. Out of the blue the boy bolted down the village with a burst of remarkable speed and disappeared within thin air , the TaiJutsu specialist stopped in his tracks and simply stared in awe.
"N-no way! H-he disappeared!" Solrac shouted in shock. Nearly two minutes later Reji arrived at the fifth training ground and spotted his Teacher and second comrade. Yagorobi was sparring with Spike, the two seemed in sync as the moved around throwing punches one after the other.
"Good morning, Yagorobi sensei. Good morning Spike!" The speed young boy called out.
"Good morning Reji." Yagorobi replied not taking his eyes off of Spike, the two were still going at it.
"Hey Reji!" Spike said taking his eyes off of his sparring partner. Immediately Yagorobi went in flipping Spike on his rump. Suddenly Solrac landed out of nowhere behind Reji out of breath.
"Good, *huff*, morning, *huff*, everyone." Solrac muttered out panting for breath.
"What happen to you Solrac?" Yagorobi asked in a curious manner as he tightened his red headband on his forehead.
"Nothing happen really; it's just that, Reji and I decided to have a race. But it turns out that we are on two completely different phases of speed." He answered as he sat down on the nearest tree stump.
"So it looks like there is more than what it seems, Reji might just be on his way to becoming an S-class but just by a hair. Maybe he’ll impress me some more over the time that he’s in my squad. I know one thing for sure thou, these three Gennin are special.” The teacher thought to himself as everyone waited impatiently.
"So what are we going to do today sensei?" Reji interogated.
"Today we will be working on hand to hand combat, but first I thought I would get to know you three better by asking you what your goals are." The top ranked man explained.
"Our…… goals?" Spike muttered.
"Yes your goals are the reasons why you became a ninja. Let’s start with you Solrac, what’s your goal?” The man said as if he were in an interrogation.
"Well my goal you see, is to be number one in my clan," Solrac retorted, "I know there are a lot of strong Huugas in my clan but one day I will surpass them all with nothing but my wits."
"Interesting, Spike what about you?" Yagorobi replied.
"Me um, let me think;" Spike said sarcastically, "My goal is to be strong so that I can protect the ones that are special to me, I want to protect the leaf village with all of my might!"
"Nice one, and what about you Reji?" The Jounin ranked ninja complimented.
"My goal isn’t just some simple walk in the park, I want to become an S-class ninja. No stronger than an S-class, so that I’m able to protect everyone!" The fiery spirited child said with a determined look on his visage.
"He has to be kidding me he wants to become stronger than S-class." Spike thought.
"It's impossible I don't think anyone can be stronger than that." Solrac thought with doubt.
"We have a winner." Yagorobi judged logically.
"Now let's get started shall we. Spike and Solrac you two will spar first," The teacher announced, the two kekegenkai wielders stood in front of each other ready to throw down, "the rules are simple the first one to fall loses, begin!" Almost instantaneously Spike charged after Solrac and threw the first punch, Solrac dodged and leaped over the black spiky haired Uchiha.
"Do you think that cheap shot could actually hit me?" The main branched Huuga taunted.
"Not really I just wanted to see how you would react!” Spike shouted it was just a diversion!" Spike yelled. The Uchiha flipped backwards, landing on his hands and twisting to his feet. The Sharringan wielding child darted towards Solrac and they were both first and fist. The two in complete sync with each other throwing punches and kicks.
"A-amazing!" Reji thought in awe. Without any sign, Solrac grabbed Spike by the arm and flipped him over, the rotating boy landed flat on his rump with a thump.
"You can't beat me. Sorry Spike maybe you should try again another time." The boy teased. Spike let out a loud sigh of frustration and calmly walked away.
"Alrighty then, you’re up Reji.” Yagorobi said as he rubbed his forehead.
"Right!" The speedy young child said with an exuberant aura. Reji pounced high in the air and smoothly ascended to the ground in front of his opponent. Solrac stood in a low stance with his left hand sticking straight out and his right hand drew in.
"Solrac has the advantage on balance, but my speed should counteract that. As long as I don’t get too close I’ll be good.” The boy thought as he took a step back.
“I know that Reji is fast and if he tries that TaiJutsu move on me I’m done for. So the best thing I can do as of now is keep him from using that move. I just hope that my offense is better than his defense.” The main branch thought as he devised his plan.
"Begin!" Yagorobi yelled. Immediately the two sprung backwards, gaining distance from one another.
"Let's go full out Solrac." Reji said.
"You should know I won't be holding back like you did on our race." Solrac replied. Reji grew a quick smirk and volted high within the air, somersaulted.
"I have to stop him from using that move!" Solrac yelled from inside. Byakugan wielding boy leaped high in the air and was right in front of Reji.
"!?" Reji gasped. Suddenly Solrac activated his Byakugan; his veins began to show on his eyes.
"Crap!" The boy yelled as he tried to figure out ways to gain distance in his current situation. The quick witted boy kicked the Byakugan wielder boosting him up higher.
"Did he just use Solrac as a trampoline?" Spike asked.
"Reji is unsuspecting, just like his profile said." The blue haired master thought. Solrac slammed to the ground on the ground laid down flat on his back.
"Looks like you’re out Solrac." Yagorobi said. Reji landed in front of Solrac and offered him his hand. Solrac grabbed his comrade’s hand, and was pulled to his feet.
"No way! We just started, there is now way on earth someone could beat a Huuga that fast." Solrac thought.
"Nice one Reji." Spike complimented.
"I never suspected you would do that. I mean using your opponent as a trampoline, smart." Solrac replied.
"Well my brother told me that in the ninja world you have to do something unexpected." The quick witted child retorted..
"Moving on Spike and Solrac you two will be practicing hand to hand combat for losing to Reji, and Reji I want you to follow me." Yagorobi directed.
"What!" Spike yelled.
"No fair!" Solrac complained. The Jonin and Gennin ranked ninja walked deep into the training grounds.
"So what am I going to do sensei?" the boy asked excited for his next task.
"I'm going to have you learn a special Jutsu." Yagorobi replied.
"Really!" Reji said with excitement.
"Yes! I knew that today was going to be an awesome day; now I’ll learn a new Jutsu and show everyone that doubted me that they were wrong." The energetic child thought. With an incredible amount of speed, Yagorobi made the hand signs Ram, Serpent, and Tiger. Instantly a thick layer of smoke covered the advanced ranked ninja. As the smoke smoothly dispersed there were two identical men standing in front of Zane.
“There are two of him!” He thought in mind.
“T-that was, the Shadow Clone Jutsu! I've heard that it distributes the user’s chakra evenly among the clones and creates a real copy with form and substance. The clone itself can also utilize any Jutsu the original ninja knows, when the clone finally disperses, any new knowledge it has gained is passed back to the original ninja and any additional clones. Upon impact, the clone can be dispersed." Reji informed as if he were still in the academy.
"You know a surprising amount about this Jutsu, where do you get all of that information from?" the man pondered.
"Well you see, I wanna learn about Jutsu even though it’s really hard for me to control the way my chakra flows; I got picked on a lot for it. I thought it would be nice to know everything so that one day when I am able to learn it I know the risk and how everything is supposed to function." He responded.
“Impressive, even though he can’t control his chakra properly; he doesn’t want to give up on learning Jutsu.” The man thought.
"Let's see, the hand signs required for this Jutsu are the Ram, Serpent, and Tiger." The boy said aloud. With magnificent speed the child made the hand signs almost as easily as moving through air.
"Shadow clone Jutsu!" Reji shouted! The red spiky haired, boy with a mighty amount of concentration molded his chakra and tried to split it in half, creating another version of himself.
Pooooooooof! Instantly a cloud of gray thick, puffy, smoke appeared beside the high spirited child, after a matter of seconds the smoke disappeared leaving only a pale rubber dummy laying on the ground.
“N-no way! This isn’t right I divided my chakra evenly!” he vociferated, embarrassment ruining his newly found pride. As Yagorobi tried not to laugh he placed a firm hand on Reji’s shoulder.
"I better go check on Spike and Solrac." Yagorobi said. The blue haired man leaped high in the air, ascending onto the top of a tree branch and darted in the direction of where he left the other two members of squad 11.
"I can’t, I won’t give up!" he thought. The determined young adolescent swiftly made the hand signs Ram, Serpent, and Tiger.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!” The young spirited boy vociferated. With great enthusiasm Reji molded his chakra and divided it evenly once more. Pooooooooof!!!!!!! Another cloud of dense, heavy, gray smoke appeared beside the spiky red haired boy, as the dark smog evaded into thin air two pale rubbery dummies appeared beside him.
"Well I made two but they're not moving." Reji thought trying to pump himself up. About Five hours had past and Reji was still trying to complete his Shadow Clone training. So far he’s only been able to produce two dummies.
"Five hours of this and I still haven’t created a single good clone! I'm almost out of chakra." Reji said. Suddenly Spike landed on a tree stump in a far distance out of Reji's view.
"I wonder what Reji is still doing in the training grounds." The youthful Uchiha thought.
"One more time Shadow Clone Jutsu!" The quick witted child yelled. Once again the boy made the hand signs Ram, Serpent, and Tiger he then split his remaining chakra in half and molded it into a the form one last clone. Pooooooooof!!!!! Two clouds of gray smog appeared on each side of Reji and after the smoke disappeared and two clones breathing, moving clones stood beside him.
"I-it worked! I did it!" Reji said with excitement.
"Wow so that is what Yagorobi was doing with Reji." Spike said to himself.
"It’s about time I got it right." Reji said.
"It took you long enough." The clone on the right retorted.
“Talk about the longest wait ever." The other clone said.
"I can't believe I finally made a Jutsu, this is proof that I can do anything with enough determination." He said exhausted. Reji fell to the ground in exhaustion; the two Shadow Clones disburse into smoke.
"Reji!" Spike yelled. Spike zipped off the tree stump but before he could get to Reji, Yagorobi stepped in front of him and shook his head.
"Why not Yagorobi sensei something or someone could kill him easily. He has no way of protection passed out like that." Spike said.
"It's best if Reji gets up on his own he can't rely on you or Solrac to help him all of the time. As you progress as a ninja you will understand what I’m saying." Yagorobi replied. With a nod from the concerned comrade the two left the training ground, with one last glance at Reji from the top ranked ninja the man smiled.
"Six hours is when his chakra runs out, this kid just might actually became an S-class with just enough training.” He thought to himself. Yagorobi launched himself high in the air and began to leap from tree to tree until the two were out of the training grounds.
