The story starts a good deal before the current timeline of the Narutoverse. Keep in mind that it’s a Fanfiction so I might alter things so they don’t end up like things are in the Anime/Manga right now. If you guys like it, I will make some more chapters. I have a beginning and ending in thought, but how I reach that ending can depend on how I feel the story should evolve. I’m giving various characters names because they don’t get any in the anime(f.e. Minato’s parents/teammates).This makes it easier to keep up. Have fun reading!
Chapter 1: The days before the academy.
It’s a sunny day in Konoha. Little Minato is running around in the house, following his best feline friend “Hoshi”. His mother is making him lunch and his father just got back from his patrol duty.
Minato: Otou-saaaan, you’re finally home! Can we please go outside and do some ninjutsu training?
Hikaru: Haha, you really are energetic as ever Minato-chan! If you want to go train with me it’s okay, but ask your mother if she’s okay with it!
Minato runs to the kitchen where he almost begs his mother to let him go train.
Minato: Okaa-san, can I please go outside with dad and train so I have a head start in academy the day after tomorrow?
Asami: Ok little Minato, but be sure to clean yourself up when you come back in before lunch, ok?
Minato: Ok, thanks a lot mom!
Minato and Hikaru head off to a nearby pitch of grass with some trees where Hikaru trains Minato with the basics of ninjutsu. He seems to be very skilled, considering he still needs to go to the academy.
Hikaru: Right Minato, today is going to be a very important training, so you have to promise me you’ll do your best. Okay?
Minato: Okay dad!
Hikaru: Right, as you’re aware the things I taught you before, like making clones and using shuriken and Kunai ninjutsu are normally things you only get to learn in the academy right?
Minato: Aww dad, I don’t have to use those silly shurikens again do I? I’ve already had plenty of training with them!
Hikaru: No Minato, we won’t be doing that today, although you might need some more shuriken training after what you did to Hoshi last time…
Minato: But daaaaad, I missed the tree once and Hoshi was there, I can’t help that he was hiding in the bushes!
Hikaru: Well I suppose you’re right… But anyways, today I’m going to teach you something and I’m not sure if you’ll be able to learn it already considering you’re only on a Genin's level.
All of a sudden Minato’s attention becomes very high. He knows his dad’s voice and knows that he’s dead serious now.
Hikaru: Today we’ll do something called Nature Manipulation Minato-chan.
Minato: Nature Ma..ni..pu..la..ti..on?
Hikaru: Yes Minato-chan. Nature Manipulation is one of the things you will be needing the most in your life. Every Shinobi has an affinity for one of the five basic elements. Can you guess what those elements are?
Minato: Well... Ermm… Fire and Water seem obvious… And maybe Earth… Oh, and Wind!
Hikaru: That’s right! The only one remaining is Lightning. As I’ve said, every ninja has an affinity for one or more elements. In time, you’ll be able to use attacks based on your affinity. For example if you have an affinity for earth, you can make walls appear quickly to defend you.
Minato: OOOOH OOOOH, WHAT’S MY AFFINITY? DAD? TELL ME PLEASE!
Hikaru: Haha, I don’t know yet son, but there’s a quick way to find out!
Minato: Please dad, tell me. Pretty please with sugar coating on top?
Hikaru: Well that’s the point of today’s training silly! Alright, before we start I’ll explain what we’re going to do. You see this piece of paper in my hand right? It’s called Chakra Paper. It’s special paper that determines for which element you have an affinity.
Minato: Wicked… I hope it’s going to be water or lightning so I can use my finger as a water gun or zap some bugs outside!
Hikaru: Minato! These techniques aren’t something you can just use for fun, they’re techniques that are used in battle!
Minato: Well a water gun fight is kind of a battle… And I don’t really like bugs…
Hikaru sighs and realizes his son is still a young boy despite the fact that he seems to be very promising.
Hikaru:Okay Minato, take a piece of the paper and focus some chakra in it. You have 5 options:
If it crumbles your affinity is Earth, if it gets soaked your affinity is water, if it wrinkles your affinity will be lightning, if it burns it will be fire and if it gets cut in half, your affinity will be wind!
Minato: Okay dad, here I go!
Minato takes a piece of paper in his hand. He closes his eyes because he’s too stressed out to see the result. When he opens his eyes, he sees that…
Minato: The paper wrinkled! The paper wrinkled!
Hikaru: Well Minato-chan it seems your affinity is lightning! I guess it runs in the family.
Minato: You mean you have lightning as well?!
Hikaru: Indeed son! Luckily for you because this means I can help you train!
Minato: Alright, let’s get going!
Hiraku learned Minato about the basics of his affinity. Strengths, weaknesses, how to form some lightning sparks and so forth. By the end of training Minato was exhausted of this new training so they decided to call it a day. As they went home Minato asked his dad some questions about nature manipulation.
Minato: Dad… Will I be able to make my own techniques when I get older?
Hikaru: Well if you’re skilled enough that should be your goal little Minato! Besides Nature Manipulation there’s also Shape Manipulation. If you can combine these two, nobody would know how your technique would look!
Minato: Okay, from this day on I’ll become the strongest ninja in the village and make the strongest technique known to the ninja world!
Hikaru: Haha, don’t get ahead of yourself Minato, you still have a lot of work. Go eat your lunch, and do some shuriken exercises because you won’t have time tomorrow. And the day after it’s already time to go to them Academy!
Minato: Okay dad… Thanks for training with me!
Hikaru: We’ll continue it first thing next week, okay son? I have to get going now because I have a mission. Take care of your mother ok?
Minato: Okay dad, bye!
Hikaru: Bye son!
The next day Minato went to get a brand new set of clothes, shuriken’s and kunai’s. He went to bed early, because the next day, his life as a ninja would begin.
This chapter was actually more an introduction to the main story.
