Toshiro was born in the year 30 b.a.f. (that stands for before the attack of the 9-tailed fox). He was born on December 19th, being a Sagittarius by heart. His parents were, of course, both ninjas, though ones whose fame didn't spread beyond their block of Konoha.
The first six years or so of Toshiro's life were spent in a pretty standard way; he'd hang around the house most of the time, helping his mother do chores, and playing with his toys.
When he was seven, he was enrolled in the ninja academy. For the rest of his life, he never forgot the looks and smiles of his parents as they saw him off to school, saying they'd see him at the enrollment ceremony. They were so happy.
At the ceremony, all of the genin-to-be were announced, and given certificates. When Toshiro's name was called, he looked for his parents as he walked up the platform, and saw them waving out in the crowd. Tempted to wave back, he resisted the urge and continued to the academy instructor, receiving a certificate and a pat on the head. They were so happy.
The remainder of the day after the ceremony was spent with more congratulations, and a night out at a restaurant. The happiness of that day made most of it a blur in Toshiro's memory... it was just that: a blur.
After the sun set, Toshiro's parents tucked him in and said goodnight. His eyelids closed, and the grip of sleep seized him. After what seemed to be only a little while, there was a loud crash. Then screaming, accompanied by a short struggle.
Then, the screaming stopped.
