Chime extends his hand, grasping the man's hand firmly. Firm enough to show him strength, but soft enough to where the man knows he is a true friend. A small grin appears on Chime's face when the man produces an odd smile. An odd man, but odd is good. Normal is much too average. That day, I was informed I had another student, and upon glancing down upon the paper, a small smile graced upon my lips. Upon arriving at the training grounds that we had agreed to meet on, I spotted him relaxing upon the soft grass. I began a beeline towards him, my footsteps soft, yet making my presence known.
"Chime, eh?" I questioned as he acknowledged me. "Interesting name. The sound of bells always reminded me of the morning. They were simple, yet delightful sounds that always lured me from my sleep. The wind would blow gently upon the wind chime placed before the front door, just enough so that the bells tinkled against one another, creating a pleasant and arousing tone."
I smiled awkwardly, offering a hand out to him. "My name is Akihiko. Feel free to call me Akihiko-sensei. I heard that you wanted to learn Wind, and it is a very suitable element for you. But first, I'm curious."
I paused, gazing up into the clouds, where they were ever moving...slowly...yet inevitably.
"Why do you want to learn Wind? What is it that fascinates you about, propels you to use it in a battle?"
As instructed, Chime slowly shut his eyes in order to truly experience he flow of the wind. The way it rippled and folded his clothes, threw his hair back and forth with unkempt disarray, to how it howled with intensity. It was clear that Chime was in deep concentration as he furrowed his brow, gazing into the clear, blue sky. His words came out quiet, yet passionate, and it easily confirmed for his sensei his eagerness for learning.Ah, I suppose I shall switch to third person too, haven't done that in some time. ^_^
"It is good to have a personal outlook," Akihiko replied, chuckling along with Chime. "If there is anything my many training sessions taught me, it were those that thought of the box that did well, learned well. It is always important to enjoy yourself while keeping an open mind for knowledge.
Lightning is indeed a violent and unstable element, but you speak of Wind in a different manner. Close your eyes and you can feel it flowing around us - in the trees, the soft grass rustling beneath our very feet. All it needs is a slight grasp of your own chakra, and there are an infinite amount of power and creativity in your hands."
Akihiko proceeded to glance around, looking for a simple, yet deliberate way to introduce the element. His eyes fell on a rock lying upon the ground and he reached towards it, hefting it deftly within the palm of his hand.
"Earth, another element, is tight and solid, and is almost like molding a clay," he said, beginning his example. "But Wind...it is wild, yet graceful, and can bring great destruction in many ways.
Wind chakra is sharp and slicing and can easily cover a huge area at once. It is also a natural insulator, so it can easily take out massive lightning attacks."
He released his hand, allowing the rock to fall upon the ground. It clattered softly, etching into the soft grass.
"However, while it is a great element, it also gives the user a great risk whenever utilizing it. Do you know the weakness of Wind and how it is used against it?"
Chime wonders to himself as Akihiko walks away to a nearby tree. Puzzled as he plucks off a leaf from a low branch, Chime doesn't really have an idea what is in store for him. After listening to the explanation of what must be done, the pieces begin to fall together.Akihiko's gaze mingled on Chime's finger as he contemplated on his student's words, running them over in his mind. "You are indeed correct about the fire and wind combination," he began. "For example, if your opponent released a C-Rank Wind technique and you used a C-Rank Fire technique, that C-Rank Fire would overcome the Wind and would actually become a B-Rank Fire technique. The jutsu would be extremely hard to counter properly without prior knowledge of water, so please keep this in mind whenever battling."
He offered an encouraging smile, nodding his approval. "We can always emphasize later, but let us begin with a bit of simplicity. Allow yourself to become Wind, feel it around you as you did before, but then bring that very same feeling into the flow of your very own chakra, recreating it so that you are able to utilize wind Chakra."
With quiet steps, Akihiko walked over to a tree, scanning over it for a long moment before picking off a leaf and then handing it to Chime. "Attempt to cut that leaf with your chakra," he instructed. "It is a simple exercise, yet is full of meaning and experience."
Chime silently listens to the instructions, his body stiff with anticipation. He has a set grimace on his face, full of determination.Watching someone take their first steps in the training world was always a source of fascination for Akihiko. There was nothing but absolute concentration on Chime's face, reminding him of his first steps into the shinobi life. Pure determination and motivation - these were necessary for one to achieve much in this world.
The blurred image of Chime eventually straightened, snapping him back to his senses as wide smile spread across the features of his student. "Spectacular!" Chime exclaimed, opening his hand to show the result of his efforts.
Akihiko nodded his approval, reaching out delicately to run his hand over the sliced leaf. "Well done," the sensei said. "You now know what it is like to feel wind, be wind..."
With steady steps, he made his way to the stop of the hill, spreading out his hands as he did so. "As said before, Wind is all around us!" he called from the top of the hill. "Now, from your position, begin to gather the Wind around you with your own chakra. Accumulate enough force so that the dust of the very ground is also picked up. Then, send all of that at once at me over here!"
Thank you sensei.Akihiko chuckled softly at the eagerness of his student, peering down at him as Chime flung his arms out before him in a dramatic manner, perhaps to catch the very manner of Fuuton itself.
"Let the bones and the rubble from the past inhabitants of this land rain down upon you like flaming meteors!" he roared. "May this attack be the last you ever witness!"
And with those words, the Wind began to flow rapidly, collecting fallen leaves and dust along with it as the force of the jutsu began to travel towards Akihiko.
He implanted his foot firmly into the ground, applying chakra, as he raised an arm across his face in order to lessen the impact of the Wind. His ears filled with the sound of trees blowing and the air whistling.
"Remember several things!" Akihiko yelled over the noise. "First, there are three ranges in battle! Short range goes from 0-5 meters, mid to 5-15, and long to 15-25+! It is important to keep this in mind as you may forgot and use a jutsu that does not affect your opponent because it couldn't reach him!
Another important battle aspect is the sound! The sound alerts you to incoming moves, but can also serve as a distraction if you're trying to hide another one! A loud jutsu like this can allow you to sneak up on the opponent while he is distracted.
This jutsu is a short range jutsu, designed mainly to throw your opponent off balance. Furthermore, it is also to blind them due to the dust in the wind you collected. There are many ways to use this, but I am sure you have the creativity and knowledge to come up with the ideas!"
The jutsu passed over Akihiko, mingling into the air beyond him, fading away into the distance. Exhaling softly and rubbing his eyes, Akihiko stepped back down towards Chime.
"Now, do you know how a tornado forms?" he questioned.
(Fūton: Fūsajin no Jutsu) - Wind Release: Dust Wind Technique
Type: Defence
Rank: D
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user creates a gust of wind that layers an area in loose sand and dust. Doing so also acts as a sandblaster on the surrounding area. This layer of sand that accumulates on the trees during this technique makes it difficult for others to get a good footing. The initial gust can also temporarily blind opponents by lodging sand in their eyes.
Congratulations on learning your first Wind jutsu!
"Of course, I will attempt it now.""Well," Akihiko began, placing out his two hands in front of him as an example. "A tornado forms when two opposite Wind currents, one hot, and one cold, begin to rub against one another." He moved his hands in a slicing manner before him. "The warm air eventually twists into a spiral and forms the funnel cloud that we all associate with a tornado."
He stood up, indicating the space before Chime.
"Now, try and do that with your own chakra, but don't put too much chakra into it. Put in just enough so that there is a small spinning wall of wind before you."
-goes out of character-Akihiko saw the area before Chime begin to flutter as a small tornado eventually spun into existence.
"How am I doing, sensei?" Chime questioned as the jutsu was held steadily before his hands.
Akihiko nodded, taking a few steps, digging within his cloak for a weapon. "Now, keep it stable while I test it out!"
With his right hand, he drew out a kunai, flicking it rapidly at the spinning jutsu.
Describe the impact.
Chime watches his sensei suddenly begin to move and then burst up into the air, remaining there for a period of time.Akihiko nodded his approval at his student's answer.
"And if I were to punch you, then it would also result in a negative impact for me. Keep in mind what kinds of things this jutsu can defend against."
He took a few steps, testing his footing against the ground, and then begun running in a frontal direction. However, he suddenly turned back around, releasing a strong stream of Wind chakra from his mouth, aimed at the ground.
Because it was aimed in a 60 degree angle towards the ground, Akihiko was propelled into the air at that very angle. It also kicked up quite a bit of dust from the ground, misting the entire training area.
"Replicate my move!" he called from the air. "And describe what you think this jutsu might be for."
Chime listens to the words of his sensei, his cheeks flushed with red splotches from his earlier excitement. He nods in understanding as Akihiko explains what he must do next.A grin spread about Akihiko's features as he watched his student propel into the sky, an unmatched joy upon his face.
"It definitely can help you move about in the air," Akihiko stated. "If you were find yourself in trouble, such as being thrown into the air after a deadly jutsu, you can have a safe landing with this. You can also easily avoid Earth jutsus that come directly from the ground with this. And last, but not least, the dust that it kicks up, if aimed properly at the ground, can be used as a sort of smoke bomb against the opponent."
As gravity eventually pulled him back on the ground, Akihiko landed easily, finding his proper footing upon the ground once more. "Now, for this next jutsu," he said. "As I am sure you have a good feel of Wind by now, so begin by charging that chakra not out of your mouth, but into your hands.
And like pressure being built up, build the very Wind Chakra you have within your hands and clap them together, palm to palm. Then, when you feel that you have enough power within the jutsu, release it all at once!"
