Kakashi for me. For me, Kakashi fits the bill of a true shinobi better than most in the series. The man has endured through so much in his lifetime, disappointment after disappointment yet he never swayed from his path. Kakashi lost his father a young age, his comrade who gave him his eye and was his best friend, who's dying wish was to protect his love, who he was forced to kill! Then his sensei gets killed and he later finds out it was from his best friend who he thought was dead.

Can you imagine the grief this man must have felt through his life? This including the fact that his student goes rogue and he feels the regret of being a bad sensei. Yet in every incident he came close to death, it was to protect the future generation (Choji, Naruto, etc). Rather than taking a dark turn, this man (even though he faltered at times) never swayed to wrong the world for his misfortunes. Instead, he chose to attempt to make the world brighter by protecting what he felt was the spark (Naruto) at every chance he could get. Just so that people wouldn't have to suffer themselves.

Sorry for the long text but for me, Kakashi is easily one of the most respectable characters regardless of strength. His resilience is one to be admired and ironically, should have been copied by other shinobi and perhaps human beings in general.

Wow! I really forgot about him. This guy deserves to be respected so much he should be on my list!

I could write an essay on quite a few, but I guess these are the top 3 in no order:

Lee- Hardest working individual in the manga
Nagato- Offered a different view to obtaining peace
Itachi- Very selfless and has clear/pure wisdom

Hiruzen. He mastered the five elements without a rinnegan and was a ninjutsu encyclopedia. On top of that he was a true shinobi that ignited the will of fire.

1. Kaguya- the Originator of chakra, can use any technique and kekkai genkai she pleases(in her own way).

2. Minato-fast as f*ck, very resourceful.

3. Tobirama-Able to keep up with his brother, invented moves that can kill just about anyone.
(Earned the utmost respect)

4. Ms Tobi only- the respect doesn't go off to kamui, but the abilities he obtained after being synced to Gedo mazou by Madara.
And didn't have the rinnegan

5. Blind Madara/Rinnegan Madara- Blind Madara same boat as ms Tobi, while Rinnegan Madara soloed all nine bijuus two being perfect jinchuuriki's.

6. Pein-just...wow

7. Hashirama-potent cells

8. Itachi-Solo king

^^No particular order^^

But Hinata and Sakura are crappy characters? Why do you like them?

I admire how Hinata A). Remained herself though out much adveristy (being rejected by her father, constantly reminded if her inabilties ect). Even though she got 100x strong she lost track of who she was. B). She loves Naruto for all the right reason and not based off shallow ideals (no shots at Sakura).

Sakura A). Started off as a absurd child who was obsessed with Sasuke and dismissive of Naruto (shallow) but she matured greatly and began to genuinely love her teammates. B). She recognized her shortcomings and the burden/dead weight she put on her team then decided to change that. C). Her skills greatly improved from part one to two through hardworking.

Itachi and Nagato.

Itachi was the epitome of sacrifice and working in the shadows. Not once did he ever look back at what he did, convinced it was for the good of Konoha, until he spoke with Sasuke as an Edo Tensei, where he admitted he might have been wrong about leaving Sasuke out of the entire incident, and that he could have helped Itachi to change the Uchiha. Itachi murdered his flesh and blood for the purpose of saving those that were not.

Nagato had a very horrific life on the battlefield of the Second Shinobi World War. He didn't lose anything because he didn't have anything to begin with. The only things he did have were ripped from him when he was only a child, and there he discovered his power, the Dōjutsu that was stained with blood from millennia before his time. With his other friends, Yahiko and Konan, he forged an organisation that would assist in his goal of destroying the tyranny in Amegakure, and the long-term one of creating World Peace. Unlike the others who wished to create this so-called "World Peace" through the Mugen Tsukiyomi, Nagato wished to show humanity the folly of possessing the power of a Bijū, and usher in an age of peace using that fear of the Bijū's power. Up until the very end, he was convinced his way was right. It wasn't; his motives were pure, but his methods were not. After being demonstrated that, he left the task of creating peace to Naruto.

^This. Not to mention, he lost his mother at a young age as well. I'm surprised he hasn't walk down the wrong path after enduring so much. It's what makes him the finest shinobi. After all, Kishi defined shinobi as those who endure.

Hiruzen, the God of Shinobi.

The Professor never borrowed or stole powers, yet in his prime was the strongest
