The Byakugon Is Unimpressive

I've never felt like the Byakugon was an enourmous threat.

Unlike it's distant and much more useful cousins, the Byakugon only retains the ability to see chakra networks and see chakra from a distance, as well as see chakra through objects. Two of these things can aleady be accomplished by the other eye techniques.

But that's it. No jutsu, no other capabilities come from the Byakugon; it's almost depressing. As the supposed parent of the Sharingan, you would think it would be able to access some OP techniques as the Sharingan does. But, as we know, it does not.

I would love to see some sort of Byakugon upgrade, so it can take its place among the greatness of its cousins.

I think it had the potential to be much better than what it is now.

I have a feeling Kishi wanted to expand upon it more but realized how Haxxed it was in Part 1 and anything else would have made it OP in Part 2. It's sad really. I kind of wished it had more to it.

Sharingan cannot see for kilometers, through objects and at 360° nor does the rinnengan. Both rinnengan and sharingan can see chakra but can't distinguish the network as good as the byakugan can. As far as combat goes, the byakugan is inferior to the other two, but it is way superior in scouting.

Also, consider that the byakugan is commonplace among Hyuugas whereas not all Uchiha have the sharingan and only ONE person, Madara, awakened (and passed on) the rinnengan after the Sage of the Six Path himself. Which means that the byakugan is the only eye technique who has been studied, refined and used to the point that a whole fighting style is based upon the properties it grants. The fact that the byakugan is so common and utilized is what makes the Hyuuga a force to be reckoned with.

If you look at this carefully, the byakugan isn't that much of a bad deal.

I agree that it could do with some bulking out in terms of what it can do, but don't confuse usefulness with power. Just because its not overpowered doesn't mean it's not useful. It is clearly one of the best forms of sensory Jutsu in the series. It's deemed useful enough for two other countries to attempt to steal it.

People underestimate it because it can't control a bijuu or because it can't perform haxx abilities, the same happens with medical Jutsu.

only one Byakugon user (i don't remember his name) see through Shisui Uchiha's Genjutsu.
u forget that. i don't think that a Byakugon user can be easily catch under genjutsu.
