In the scheme of things, there has been one highly unanswered, highly mysterious, perhaps even hidden ideal.
The Hyuga clan.
This clan here, is a doosy woosy. They are considered to be ancestors to the Uchiha, and I think this is a very high possibility in truth.
Kishimoto has written in a plot hole in which he can exploit for the final chapter, the last jedi to say.
Whenever we see an animated, drawn, hyuga technique, it displays the Yin and Yang symbol in the floor in the center.
The eye itself is that of power and wisdom. This eye allows you to see the charka channels of ones enemy even better than a 3 tomoe sharingan, however it's been noted that MS and EMS are on par, or even more eagle eye'd than this.
However.. the SO6P has been declared for the MOST part by this website as an Uzumaki due to Sir Derp Obito's threads and very good likelyhood of proof and evidence. However, I'd like to throw in a possibility that perhaps some of you would like to entertain.

so what happens? the fruit mutates the byakugan into the rinnegan, its a possibility that creating the rinnegan, which has TWO ways as stated by madara. This to me would imply childbirth.
So, we have two people who fit this bill pretty much dead on, we have Neji, who was the best byakguan user of the clan at the time, then Hinata.
Why would kishimoto need to kill off Neji, of all people? Well it's because he only wants Hinata to be in the spotlight for the big unveiling.
The Hyuga clan also impose a cage upon the lower branches of the house to keep the doujutsu in check with the clan, they did not want this power to get out at all because well, if the hyuga are older than the Uchicha, than it's a possibility that what happened with the Elder Son is as follows.
The SO6P after defeating the juubi, uses Uzumaki seals to become the first jinchuriki of the beast. his then mutated byakugan, the rinnegan, (byuakuGAN, the rinneGAN) (smiles), he then has two children.
These two children being kind of split in the way their charkas were created. the Spirit, and the Body, commonly used words in today's base. However, when the so6p chose the younger son, the curse of hate was activated, in which the Juubi's eyes manifested its hate of the so6p and his likelyhood into the Sharingan, a mirror of emotion, the elder sons eyes reflected the hate he had. Now, this would lead to a long cursed line of hate and demise.

Now, now now. The Byakugan hasn't had an escalation of power, or evolved form one could say, this is due to it already being the pure sharingan, without the reflection of hate.
So, after the priestess (hyuuga) had the so6p, her clan still continued on without the so6p to taint the line with the impurity of the tailed beast. This is where the Hyuuga is an ancestor to the Uchiha. Then you have the SO6P with an Uzumaki father, and a Hyuuga Mother, this would imply that he was taught the needed tools to defeat, seal, and destroy the juubi.
I however think the SO6P didn't develop the Rinnegan as opposed to sealing the beast, then obtaining it.
Why? because the SO6P pretty much invented ninjutsu, his mothers clan was using their fists as fighting tools, and his father's was using sealing techs. However, to be a bit more plausible, it could be that his mother was an Uzumaki, and vise versa.

tl;dr Byakugan is a Yin Yang release doujutsu, that during primitive times before ninjutsu, the clan members would use the Gentle Fist style, however upon contact of massive power, the Yin and Yang part became amplified and caused the Rinnegan's "mutation" to happen.
It is very possible that it goes Sharingan, MS, EMS, -insert senju/uzumaki-, Rinnegan, then Byakugan -> Rinnegan as the hyuga way.
The clans were of course never fully entermingled, the only time the four clans, would ever come together would be in the one time the SO6P had children, and his mother. Basically, Uzumaki + Hyuga = Son with byakugan, + being direct son of the priestess, Rinnegan development, Yin and Yang powers released upon this.
