the older son inherited the eyes and yin but not yang, since he didn't inherit the yang I think it gave him some kind of mangekyou or eternal mangekyou sharingan instead of the rinnegan
as you can tell it's a swirl pattern

I'm thinking that since the older son's blood thinned in order to get the same eyes as he had (mangekyou or eternal mangekyou) that's why a uchiha would get the mangekyou and his brothers mangekyou and combine them to equal the eyes of the older son and perhaps adding senju's yang to turn them into the rinnegan.

maybe that's why minato sealed the yang half into naruto
naruto already being an uzumaki and kushina's son had incredible life-force and this boosted it up more

sasuke with his mangekyou added another mangekyou to make his eyes like the older son
naruto already having yang chakra got more yang chakra to equal the younger son

this is so... good theory! It does make naruto look alot like the younger brother! as the blood thinned, so did the chakras.. the kyuubis part of the same chakra only strenghtens narutos and thus.. new younger brother is born.. in a way.. cool!
