This theory is based on some study of related religious philosophies, metaphysics, logic, theology, and the Naruto narrative.
Final Thoughts:
I believe this is why the emphasis was made between Naruto vs Sasuke since the beginning, and why the basis for Chakra is the symbol of Yin and Yang. I think however that Kishimoto wants to put the Narutoverse in Perfect peace through Naruto, or at least make him a symbolic monument of Peace and the will and power that accompanies it, which is Ninjutsu.
In the end, I think out of all the teachings other monks taught in SO6P’s time, his was the chosen and true one. I think there were other developments in relation to chakra through clans such as the Hyuga whose techniques curiously resemble the symbols for Yin/Yang, and because of their prowess could have been the original ones to figure out about chakra in Naruto history. This is all speculation, but I think a good case can be made for it.
However, let me know what you think. I’m more than willing to discuss opinions and facts in the comment section below.
Thanks! :ice:
| Theory-Part 1: There is an outer world that governs or, at least, intervenes with NarutoVerse. Form: Inductive Reasoning Deductive Reasoning Logic Narrative Theology Philosophy Premises: 1) The wielder of Rinnegan has the power called Outer Path. 2) Outer Path takes back the Spiritual aspect of a character and places them back in their Physical bodies. 3) The Spirit/Soul of the character carries on in this next life/spiritual world. 4) Therefore, there is an Outer World. 5) Naruto is the “Prophecy” Child. 6) Prophecy is based of divine revelation, from a transcendental source that must exist beyond the physical/material world. 7) Prophecy exists in Naruto. 8) Therefore, there are divine source(s) beyond the material world of Naruto. 9) There are various references to conceptions of heaven, hell, prayer, a god (Jashin), and demons. [Not necessarily the Christian conceptions or theology of stated places/beings] 10) These beliefs are considered truth in NarutoVerse, and are proven by active roles of a god (Jashin), afterlifes, and various beings considered demons. 11) Therefore, there are transcendental/divine beings in Naruto. 12) Therefore, it is logical to assume that other realities and transcendent beings exist and take active roles in Naruto, such as, but not limited to; Creation (e.g. Juubi as Progenitor of all things), governing of chakra (e.g. Juubi beginning of all chakra), divine intervention(e.g. Hidan’s source of immoratality), prophecies, divine revelation (e.g. Kakashi and others seeing both Jiraiya and Minato manifested on Naruto), and miracles. | |
| Theory-Part 2: Based on the former theory, I have reason to believe that the SO6P received the Rinnegan as a “blessing” from another reality, and makes the SO6P a divinely chosen being. Form: Same as former Hindu/Buddhist Traditions Presuppositions: It is clear from various references within the series that Kishimoto will take ideas from Hindu/Shinto/Buddhist traditions to incorporate into NarutoVerse and to create a unique world based on creative uses of religious doctrines and philosophies with a little mixture of other manga/anime. The SO6P did not receive the Rinnegan from the Juubi for the eye was too large to fit one man, and it was only one eye. Also, although Naruto has been shown to manifest the eyes of Kurama, this does not in anyway prove that Jinchuriiki and SO6P always manifest the eyes of their Bijuu. It does not follow either that one could attain a Doujutsu from simply hosting a Bijuu with the same Doujutsu. Therefore, it is equally plausible to assume that the Sage had his own unique pair of Rinnegan that he was “blessed” with, or at least manifested through some jutsu, genetic mutation, or family line. Premise: 1) SO6P is the originator of all Ninjutsu. 2) SO6P could not experiment with all Ninjutsu without the Rinnegan because it allows the user to access all elemental techniques and Six paths. 3) Ninjutsu was created with a will and power, namely that of Peace and responsible use of power. 4) SO6P was chosen to create Ninjutsu in order to bring the world to peace in the midst of hatred and turmoil. 5) Ninjutsu was created to counterbalance the evil/darkness in the world. 6) The basis is that of the Yin/Yang symbol. 7) The philosophy is Yin represents darkness/negative/Moon while Yang represents light/positive/energetic/Sun, and they cannot exist without the other. (e.g. Hatred/Sage, Elder son/Younger son, Uchiha/Senju, Sasuke/Naruto) 8) The Yin/Yang symbol also applies to chakra, wherein the basis for Yin/Yang is physical and spiritual energy. 9) Therefore, Kishimoto purposefully applied the Yin/Yang symbol and philosophy to develop the plot and realm of Naruto. 10) There is also prophecy in Naruto. 11) Prophecy denotes transcendent beings, or spirits of prophecy, that have power to shape future occurrences to their wills, or potentially the power to manipulate and predestine the whole of history. 12) The transcendent is possible in Naruto. 13) Therefore, the Sage was chosen by transcendent beings to be gifted with the same or similar eye to that of the Juubi, in order to subjugate and use its powers to build a world of peace through Ninjutsu in a time of hatred and turmoil. | |
| Summary: Basically, the reason the Sage of Six Paths gained the Rinnegan and created Ninjutsu, was because there is some unknown powers that chose and gifted the SO6P to create peace in a time of hatred. This could explain how and why he received the Rinnegan, and why beings like Jashin or the Juubi exist. Relevance to the current plot development: This theory could explain why Naruto and Sasuke are contemporaries and are increasingly getting stronger and involved in the important aspects of the war. While Sasuke is involved in defeating Kabuto and Edo-Tensei’s, Naruto is also fighting Obito and Edo-Madara. | |
