In a world filled with magic and wars, there is only one place to train to defend yourself and others, the Black Academies.
Filled with all sorts of knowledge including Magical Arts, War strategies, and different forms of self-defense and weapon craft, as well as survival skills; these schools are known throughout the world and their graduates are commended for surviving the grueling 4 years of studying.
There are currently only five of these academies around the world.
The Russian Academy: Snow Wolf Academia. A military academy is known to send all the graduates straight into the workforce of the Russian Military. Located deep in the arctic circle, this academy is known for their survival skills and magic controlling golems made of ice and snow.

The African Academy: Silver Lion Academia. Known as a school filled with survival specialist, and those who can befriend and control nearly any animal in the world. Located in a small village in the middle of a great forest.

The American Academy: Nicholas Flammel University. Named after a great alchemist this school focuses mainly on Alchemical Magic, and the creation of medicines and potions to help or deter in the battles of the war. Located in Brooklyn, the building looks like a simple apartment but is a portal to a remote island Academy complete with its own farms, city, and dorms.

The Japanese Academy: Black Sakura Academia. A school focusing on technological magic, as well as ancestral magic. Located off the coast of Japan, surrounded by a veil of mist and fog that barely lets the shape of the island visible wherever you view it from.

The Lost Academy: Lost Academic Library. Also called the Grand Magical Library, this academy has long since lost all of its students. Having no need for a physical location the magical school has taken to creating its own dimension to reside in, and to set up waypoints to it throughout the world, sometimes closing and opening them at random, sometimes closing all of them for centuries. This Academic Library is known to have only a few humans employed as volunteer librarians, taking care of the maintenance of the books and allowing them to be viewed by those who come to visit. The Academic Library is home to a number of spirits who have devoted themselves to learning all they can and have forsaken the material world.

Feel free to study to your heart's content at any location you would like. There are multiple wars happening so missions out to fight other students are possible. Death is an end all, the only way a character can remain is if they are forced into the Lost Library where time is frozen, meaning no death but also no healing, ultimately a stasis zone, with time fluctuations.

Academy: Black Sakura Academia Magic Specialty: Ancestral Magic: Umbrakinetics Non-Magic Specialty: Techno-Advanced Kenjutsu Familiar: Black Fox Sprite Background: Born to a family of nomads, Haru was taught at a young age that he was a protégé. He was raised to respect the world around him, and to respect those who respect him. He was taught how to use a blade at a young age since he was the only one in his family with any form of magical power. He became a master in a form of Kenjutsu called the Yukimura Frozen Blade style.
On Haru’s 16th birthday he was awoken by the Elder of his nomadic tribe and sent into the woods to defeat the Spirit Beast terrorizing the nearby town. This beast ended up being a large Black Kitsune spirit. After watching the spirit for a while Haru realized that it was just an injured and scared spirit, and went to help it. Once the spirit had been calmed down it decided to contract with Haru and become his familiar, shedding a part of its power to create a smaller clone of itself for Haru to travel with. Once he turned 18 joined the Black Sakura Academia to learn to control and use both his Kenjutsu and Ancestral Magic to protect not only his small nomadic tribe but to also protect those of the world who are either in trouble or hurt. Haru is currently a freshman in the Black Sakura High school division, after a year of supplementary magical courses required for all students.
Haru sat outside his room, on the balcony facing the mainland. His familiar asleep on his pillow, his music playing in one ear through the earbud. The smell of the ocean spray against the rocks of the shore a few miles from the Academies dorms strong in the air.
Haru's room was furnished simply, with a black desk and chair against the corner closest to the balcony, his bed adjacent to it on the opposite corner. One one side was a small dresser and nightstand, on the other a ceiling height bookcase half filled with books, and half filled with miscellaneous items from his tribe back home. Haru has a restroom connected to his room, and there is a cafeteria on the base floor of the dorms.
In the basement of the dorms is a lounge for students to be able to hang out together, and to also study together.
