Where did the god tree come from and who told humanity not to eat from it's fruit?

We'll likely get all answers when the Sage's backstory is given. Wish Kishi would just get to that...

Its ancient beyond ancient.
It has no definite origin as far as knowledge goes.
And you wouldnt want to eat that fruit if it was the only one you ever saw would you?
Some crazy woman decided it was a good idea, now we have Naruto where it is.

From space. It's a parasite that lives off the planet. Notice how no other living creature resembles this thing? Everything about it is otherworldly, could even be from the beginning of the universe and it evolved til a point it surpassed reality.

Notice how it can bring back the dead? Maybe the thing has lived off the planet long enough it pretty much becomes the after life. Everything comes from it now and returns to it through the earth. So just a little dna lets the Edo be accessed from it's network within the planet.

the god tree was the first living thing on earth. Wise men probably told people not to consume it

Actually I thought it was a reference to catholicism's/christianity's theory of creationism in the story of Adam and Eve. Only instead of man eating the fruit of The Tree of Knowledge, man eats the fruit of The Tree of Chakra and gains the ability to use Chakra as he wills it while at the same time releasing a great evil upon the planet (reference to Sin). The sacrifice of a single man (Sage of 6 paths/Jesus) lessens this evil to an extent that Man can deal with it on his own.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I saw a similarity between the two.
