He did for like, a minute. Then he went right back to human experimentation and immortality. BZ is good, Kaguya is good in terms of villainy I guess, but she was stupidly underdeveloped in all aspects of character.

I was actually afraid of orochimaru when I was little, and I hated him so much for what he's done to sasuke. Kishi did a great job on his character, until he got shitted on by kishi. Honestly kishi ruins amazing antagonists. Madara, Orochimaru, Tobi, and so on.

That's the curse. The more screen time a character has, the higher the chance of him turning into a massive pile of shit.

Weren't the editors the ones that actually made it good? I mean, it was the editors up until after the Pain arc, then the main one left, and everything went downhill.

None of his techniques worked against Itachi when he was in full health due to Itachi's Sharingan mastery, so why would they suddenly work against Sasuke despite his Sharingan mastery? Sasuke replayed the memory of Orochimaru trying to take Itachi's body for reason, to show him nothing would work.

Sasuke was being modest when he said he was only able to defeat Orochimaru because he was sick, he also lied to his team later on when he claimed he only wanted to kill the Elders, despite secretly wanting to kill everyone.

But nothing really matter if he served no roles that would give conclusion. His goal for immortality doesn't pose any threat to the leaf when he want to do it for his own personal. nevermind the villain, he's no longer the antagonist when the leaf allows him continue with the experimentation under certain circumstance which made Orochimaru accept the proposal given the cooperation and he even gets along with Naruto . He send his son to konoha to befriend with others who we thought he was a spy.

We'll see the what the relationship with Mitsuki is truly like (assuming we still care) but until then Orochimaru has done absolutely nothing to show cooperation with Konoha.
