I don't see much of a difference. The closest I can come to is the difference between Bee and Naruto; how Bee is a companion with the Hachibi, and Naruto just uses Kurama's power 100%. Either way, they have the Sage of Six Paths, who's the Jinchuriki of the Juubi; a combination of all 9.
