Sasori of the Red Sand waited at the training grounds, using his large stinger from his chest cavity as a makeshift seat, with its coils forming a mound for the Akatsuki member to sit on.
He was expecting a new student today... he'd better not arrive late, Sasori thought. He wasn't the most patient person.

As Neji walked to the training grounds, he saw a rather interesting individual sitting on a coiled up tail.
"Hi sensei, I take it you're Sasori of the Red Sand? It's an honor to be thought by you in the art of weaponry. I hope I haven't kept you waiting."

Sasori's head turned with a jerky, mechanical movement to face Neji, proof of his puppet body. His eyes were droopy but focused intensely on the new student.
"Yes, and you've kept me waiting. I dislike that. But that's now besides the point."
"Introduce yourself and tell me about your goals and ambitions as a shinobi."
His voice had a certain aloofness in its tone.

"My goal as a shinobi is to be recognized as the best Hyuga around. I want everyone to be able to see me, or even just hear about me and think to themselves, that guy, Neji Hyuga is the best fighter amongst his whole clan, undoubtedly. That is my goal as a shinobi. I strive to accomplish this goal and I'll obtain it somehow, eventually. I just need to harness my potential and learn everything I can, and on the way, possibly create my own things."

"Kenjutsu are techniques used in conjunction to weaponry, typically swords. It's used in conjunction by either using ninjutsu, genjutsu, or taijutsu along the weapon to perform more devastating moves. I believe this is very useful, since knowing about it is essential to counter against it and a opportunity may arrive where knowing it and using it could make the difference in battle. Knowing how to use a sword for example is like an extension on your arm. Giving you longer reach to strike down your opponent."

"Alright, this particular sword is called Destiny's sword. It has been passed down for generation within the Hyuga and the reason it's called Destiny is because it shows if you either life or die with this blade. It's made from the finest steal that can be obtained from the Hyuga clan."
After showing his sensei the Hyuga's sword, Neji brings down the sword in an angular fashion while take a strong, steady stance with the sword point upwards facing his sensei.
"I hope this is a good enough stance Sasori."

(For future reference, when taking your stance, make sure you note how you're holding the sword, and where your feet are placed. Example: "I hold the hilt of the sword, right hand over left, and my legs are spread evenly apart, right in front of the left". Small details, but it helps to visualize things )
Sasori observed Neji's neutral, ready stance. The form was simple, yet functional: ready to strike or defend if needed. The sword itself was well-crafted and had a good backstory as well.

Summoning a random puppet, Sasori placed it in front of his student.
"Practice taking a few slashes with that sword and get a feel for what types of attacks you like performing. When you've practiced enough, destroy the puppet with a large, final blow."

Neji takes a stance, with his legs slightly crouched with his sword arm extending forward, half angled, pointing at the puppet and his other arm pointing downwards to the ground but also in a slight angle for defensive purposes.
Once ready, he charges forward and begins to slash the puppet a few times, going from an upward motion from his lower chest to the shoulder and another slash to the arm. With the motion going downwards from the arm he then swings across and goes right to left on the puppets chest area. With the momentum carrying over, he goes for a final slash with the speed and power he's built up from the previous slashes and goes from the left shoulder straight across his torso area down to his right leg.
After unleashing those series of attacks, Neji then stands up normally and waits to see his sensei has to say.

The puppet was cut up and fell apart, shambled. Sasori then summoned a different puppet. This one looked more feminine and was holding twin daggers in its hands.
"Next, you'll learn to integrate your taijutsu and kenjutsu together. I expect your Hyuga heritage should serve you well here. By striking your target -my puppet- with a few blows, you'll leave them open to two large slashes with your bladed weapon."
"Here, focus on your intent. For example, why do you punch your target in the stomach area? The legs? Do you intend to paralyze them, stop their movements? Take note of that while attacking. The same thing applies with your sword slashes."

Positioning him, Neji looks down at the puppet that is waiting ahead. He then runs straight towards hit, swinging his right arm towards the puppets hit, striking him on the right ear causing anyone who gets hit there to be disoriented and a left knee to the puppets stomach area, paralyzing him/her also. Seeing as the target is non responsive, Neji wields his blade and strikes down heavily from shoulder length down to the lower torso a couple times on each side of the opponent.
Neji had some decent killing intent. Sasori gave a brief flash of what appeared to be a sadistic smile.
Reaching into his cloak, he presented the Hyuga with a Tanto.
"That's a tanto... faster to wield but with less range. I want you to try it by spinning around on an axis, much like a top. Hold your blade out while doing it, allowing whatever comes in your way to be cut up."

Neji grabs the tantō from his sensei's hand and positions it outwards in a perfect horizon. Once finding the correct position, he begins to spin while remaining in place. Much like a top, he kept spinning while rapidly gaining momentum, enabling him to spin faster.

Now... this next one only works while you're in mid-air. When you're up there, point your sword down and perform a drilling motion, aiming towards your opponent on the ground.
What's interesting here is that it protects you by forcing your opponent to counter an attack rather than hit you while you're up there.

Out of nowhere his sensei's clone just walked by Neji and just grabbed him by the waist without notice. Wait....what's going onnnn.... Out of the blue, Neji is airborne and heading back towards the ground. Sticking out his sword in a straight fashion and pointed directly at the clone that hurled him into the sky, Neji would proceed to twist his body to the right while keeping the sword straight. Doing this gets him to start spinning midair on his decent down looking much like a drill. With the momentum still going the spin gets to top speed and easily drills right though the clone. After passing through him, he'd get his footing on the ground and look right back at his sensei.

While they're stunned and thrown off by that first speedy attack, follow-up with a series of taijutsu moves that finish by sending them into the air, flying in an arc. Calculate where they'll land and dash to that location. Before they can hit the ground, deliver a punch that sends them hurtling into an obstacle.
*Souji formed an Earth Wall on the other side of the training grounds, then a clone poofed by his side*
Try this combination on my clone. You may want to practice a bit, but that's up to you. If you'd like clarifications or examples, give me a call!
