Hey everybody, I kinda interested in joining the military and I want the skills in weaponry, pride, duty so I would be able to protect myself as well as my mother and my little brother for life when I am done doing my 20 years. Well, at least that is my plan if my SAT and ACT scores are not to well. I already have responsibility skills and can follow directions the best of my ability but I can not swim for the marines but nevertheless I still feel like joining.

So just give me your 2 cents on what I should do.

I know right....

Air Force. Perhaps you could control the drones that kill many middle eastern citizens. Given that its drones, you won't gain PTSD and you can achieve that false pride that you desire.

Sounds to good to be true by I actually want to have skills with guns and hopefully.... hopefully don't have to kill the good middle easterns. The bad ones can perish for all I care

hey man, i am actually currently servin in the marine corps. I'm want to know why exactly your limiting yourself to these two branches. if i could rewind time i would have done the navy. The marine corps has a tremendous amount of pride but we are the least funded and chances are your recruiter is going to put you in a job you dont want. In the navy you can pick a variety of jobs that you will recieve degrees in, as well as recieve the experience. the mliitary isnt for everyone, and you may plan to do 20 years now, but what if once your in you hate it?? if you go navy you will atleast have the training and a degree so you can get a decent paying job once you are out. plus the training is like a month shorter to becomea n e-1 in the navy. if you want to go marine corps still, i can answer all your questions about that.

1. You can't just join wichever you want.

2. You need a high score to fill in one of them, I don't remember but is something like this:

From highest to lowest:

- Coastguard

- Airforce

- Marine

- Army

3. Why serve them? the government is so corrupt.

you are an idiot
ive been a marine for 2 years and have yet to deploy to afgahnistan. it all depends on what you pick as a job and timing. only certain units that meet required traning will deploy.

I did consider many other branches but the thing with the navy is that I can't swim and I also heard it takes long to get promoted from like an e-2 or something. But tell me how is your experience with the marines and what made you join in he first place bro? If you don't mind.

although i agree about the government there are lots of benefits

Tuition assistance, so you can get a degree for free while serving in the military and earning a solid paycheck.
free housing and food.
job assurance
full health benefits to include free surgery, they even pay for eye surgery to correct vision.
montgomery GI bill, after 4 years of service you can get out of the military and go straight into college paid for by the government, and they attach a housing allowance to that as well so you can provide for your family and go to school without working.

if you play your cards right while your in, you can milk the military for all its worth. you sacrafice 4-6 years of your life to be in the military and have to abide by their rules and regulations, you deserve to utilize the perks they provide.
