I agree, but that doesn't make it redeemable.

Yeah, I have a feeling as well it will be a lot more epic in the anime, there were some stuff I didn't like in the manga, then later on watching the anime portrayal, usually it's much better, e.g. Kakashi vs Obito fight. When it comes to the story, manga is better but when it comes to fighting and action, anime makes it so much better.
