You'd think my life is amazing,
It’s a line you have never crossed.
They say I’m on top of the world,
But they don’t know what I have lost!
Behind me lay scores of bodies,
Many friends and foes.
I see their faces when I sleep,
All victims of the path I chose.
Fate has given me great power,
And great responsibility.
But that is sometimes not enough,
When faced with such hostility.
I have risked my life so many times,
And lost more than I could afford.
Still I fight for truth and justice,
Though violence is my reward.
The battle is never ending,
And my loved ones have paid the price.
I must live in isolation,
For them, I make this sacrifice.
I hope it will soon be over,
And I shall be free from this task.
Then I can be a man again,
And throw away the hero’s mask.
